I am the oddball that loves to make new recipes for holidays and family gatherings! I've always been of the belief that if something isn't to my liking, the more people at the house, the higher chance there will be of someone who loves it! As for a dish we'd never change, our family is a bit weird there too! A few years ago we decided we wanted to try something new for holidays so now we have themed dinners. I believe last Thanksgiving was tex mex and everyone brought their best Tex Mex dish!

Cranberry Relish , so simple , but so good . 1 can whole cranberry sauce , 1 can jellied cranberry sauce , 1 can mandarin oranges drained , zest of an orange , juice of 1 orange , 2 TBS of honey - mix all ingredients , I use a crystal bowl ( so you can see the pretty) garnish with mint leaves and chopped walnuts . Lip smacking good . Hope you try it and hope you enjoy it - very refreshing 😁

I did this technique with peanut butter instead of pumpkin. Then I added the chocolate shell toppings to the top (completely covered) then before it’s set add chopped peanut butter cups and drizzled melted peanut butter…ahh talk about cheat day lol or holiday decadence 😊

I make green bean bundles each year. Simply wrap a few green beans in a half slice of bacon. Poke a toothpick through to hold them together and place in a casserole dish. Once you get your desired amount of bundles placed, heat some butter and add brown sugar and a touch of garlic salt. Pour that over the top of your bundles. You can refrigerate overnight or go straight to the oven. 350° for 30-40 minutes.

Our tradition growing up was always tamales, tacos, enchiladas, Spanish rice, Queso, Guac, Refried Beans, Chips, Salsa and Elote. Then I got married and they had all the things that you mentioned. Growing up in Texas my grandma always made those for Thanksgiving and Christmas well actually she made the Queso and she had someone else make everything else because she did not know how. My mom did but not my grandma on either side. Now that was my dad's side. As far as my mom's side for Thanksgiving we had Ham, Broccoli with cheese, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, sauted squash and zucchini , rolls and gravy.

There is such an easy way to cut oranges cleanly, leaving no pith. Wash and rinse the outside of the orange, then slice the slightest amount off each end. Then take the remaining orange and slice it into 3 pieces, they will be round disks. Lay each disk down and cut it into fours which will give you triangle pieces. Then it's very easy to cut the orange away from the rind. I cut mine that way when I want to eat an orange, I just don't to the final step of cutting from the rind because I use my teeth to pull it off.

Oh my goodness, this just brought a core memory to mind that I have not thought about for a long time. My dad (who passed away when I was 6) used to have a glass of buttermilk with his cornbread crumbled up inside. Thank you! 💕 My mom’s sweet potatoes is something we will never change about our Thanksgiving meal. She passed away in March of this year so this will be our first without her. I do my best but they will never be as good as hers. 😢

My Mommas Cornbread Dressing, Granny Cake (her own recipe she came up with), Banana Puddin, her Mashed Potaters, well everything was out of this world good! My Momma was a Georgia Southern Cook and there were some recipes she came up with herself and those will never change at our Family Meals! My 2 sisters and myself cook like our Precious Momma did. Daddy had special things like her Sweet Potater Coconut Pie with Pecan Crust that could never change! When we cook, Its like being at home with us all gathered around the table again! Nothing will ever change! Traditions and Blessed Memories with Family, is what Thanksgiving is all about! God Bless 🙏🙏❤❤👏👏🇺🇸🇺🇸

I make a simplified version of this where I just open a couple cans of fruit cocktail, add the mini marshmallows, chopped pecans, and then mix in Cool Whip, instead of the sour cream.:) It’s always a hit! My Grandma used to make it with all fresh fruit, but I’m definitely too busy on Thanksgiving for that, and this is a short cut that I learned from my mom. I don’t know if it’s a Northern thing or what, but we seem to prefer the little bit of sweetness from the whipped cream. 😊

I am 59 years old, and I grew up with my moms stuffing every year and will NEVER change it... EVER! It's relatively basic, but it is amazing! My mom died 😢in 2004, and when my extended family lived nearby me, all I would have to say was that I was making Mom's stuffing and everyone came to my house for Thanksgiving . I now live with my sister, and even though it's just the two of us now, our Thanksgiving table will always have this on the table. I'll post the recipe here. Thanksgiving Stuffing 2 loaves of white bread, cut or torn into approx. 1 in. pieces. 6 T. butter 2 C finely chopped onion (about 2 medium onion) 1 C finely chopped celery (about 2 - 3 stalks) 1/4 cup dried parsley 1 tsp dried sage 1 tsp dried thyme 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1 to 1 1/2 cups chicken stock 2 eggs, beaten 3/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Preheat oven to 400⁰ Butter a 9x13 casserole dish and set aside. In a VERY large bowl, tear or cut bread into pieces and set aside. In a medium pan, Melt the butter over medium high heat. Sautee onions and celery until soft, about 8 minutes. Stir in the herbs, nutmeg, salt, and pepper and cook for just 30 seconds more. Add the celery and onion mixture to the bowl with the bread pieces and toss together. Stir together the chicken stock and eggs, then pour onto the bread mixture and stir to distribute evenly. (Depending on how firm you want the stuffing, etc, you will need to add more stock until its is lightly moist but not soggy or packed together). Spread into casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake 20 minutes. Remove foil and then bake another 25-30 minutes or so or until golden brown. NOTE: If prepared the day ahead and refrigerated, some of this can be stuffed into the turkey, and it is amazing!!

Oh, I'm all about the buttermilk! (A perfect lunch is liverwurst or Braunschweiger sandwich, banana and tall glass of cold buttermilk!) Those potatoes sound delish. Don't really have long-standing recipes for holidays but love a good dressing - heavy on the cornbread - with good seasoning and something extra; maybe diced apples and/or pecans, or craisins. Of course, the main use is for leftovers the next few days; sammiches made with thin slices of dressing, turkey and cranberry sauce. That is my big indulgence -- the leftovers for several days.

One thing my family has always loved on thanksgiving is congealed salad. We do a lemon-lime and a strawberry every year. It’s 2 small boxes of jello (either 1 lemon and 1 lime or 2 strawberry). A can of crushed pineapple in juice. Cool whip. Cottage cheese and crushed pecans. You put the pineapple into a saucepan and add the jello mix and stir frequently until it comes up to a simmer. Then let it cool completely. In a big mixing bowl add the jello mixture, 8oz cool whip, cottage cheese (measure with your heart but I use about half of a large container of small curd) and crushed pecans (again… measure with your heart but I use about a cup). Mix it all up and refrigerate it overnight. It’s SO GOOD!!! We have this instead of cranberry sauce.

It has brown sugar, condensed milk, obviously, brown butter, pumpkin pie spice, slow roasted sweet taters, vanilla and 1egg+ 2 egg yolks makes it super creamy! My tip is anytime that you are making pumpkin or Sweet potato pie, blend the living chucks out of it! I pop mine into my blender until it's velvety smooth! I always hated the stringy taters in pie until I tried processing them in a blender! OMG!! It's so smooth and melts in your mouth! I top mine with cinnamon whipped cream:)

I bet that pie would be good with a pecan crust and a little toast pecans sprinkled on top. 🤤

Scalloped corn, corn pudding, or corn casserole. It has several names but it's not Thanksgiving without it! Family tradition! Usually no leftovers 😂😂

One of our favourite sides is dressing made with apples, walnuts and dried cranberries. Very traditional, but we love it! I am looking forward to trying these recipes, Mandy. Thank you so much! Cole, your sandwich would be my husband's sandwich! 😊😂❤ Have a great week!😊

Pam here….the best glazed carrots i ever had were made with Dijon Mustard. OMG …Butter, Brown sugar, honey, Thyme, Dijon mustard salt and pepper. INSANE and was a great contrast to the other heavier flavors of the meal.

Sweet potato casserole is a must at our house. One year I didn’t make it and every single person complained. It will forever be on our menu.

Several people in our family don't love turkey, so we also serve fried chicken 😆 it's become tradition so i guess that's a must these days.

Mandy, I have that cube steak recipe in the crockpot but I changed the beef for a chuck roast, I didn't have cube steaks in the freezer. I don't think it will matter. Happy Halloween.

My must have dish that will never be changed is veg-all casserole. My husband loves it so much I couldn’t disappoint him and not serve it. I used to do broccoli casserole but vegetable casserole for the win.
