The more a man can learn about what it's like to be a woman , the more he can understand his lady . Thank you for the education . I've never been able to understand men who don't want to understand the real life experiences there lady must deal with . You can't sympathize , with what you know nothing about ..

insider tips from a long time cup user: you won't lose it up there, i promise. if your pelvic floor muscles are strong you may be squeezing the cup and it won't feel circular. don't worry, there's not a gap between your vaginal walls and the cup unless you feel an actual gap (this was one of my concerns lmao i guess i'm just super strong). make sure the lube you are using is water based! other lubes can ruin the cup. a more natural method is coconut oil. to find your cervix height just put your finger up and feel for a marble-with-a-dent thing. when you find that, check how far your finger is. if it's at the knuckle near the base of your finger, that's a high cervix, middle knuckle is a middle height cervix, and if it's at the top knuckle it's a low cervix. i'm going to assume you have a high cervix since it drifted up high. when you use the punch down fold (which i find is the easiest, it's the one on the diva cup box that's not a C shape) make sure you punch down over an air hole at the rim, it helps it pop open better. you also may not feel a pop, but it probably is open, just run your finger around if you aren't sure to check. when you are taking it out, bear down and reach as much as you can, and pinch it with two fingers and walk it down (pinch to break the seal, and keep holding that pinch until it's completely out so there's no spray). the diva cup tells you how many fluid ounces you bleed which is fun to compare day to day and month to month. and then dispose of the contents and rinse :)) these are my insider tips on menstural cups. ive been using them since i was 12 years old and i feel like i know a lot of tricks since it was very difficult for me at that age. at age 15, i'm super happy and comfortable using them and hope you continue to enjoy menstrual cups.

I'm 14 and use a cup so, obviously, I'm a strong believer that anyone of any age can use them. So happy this will give them the publicity they need. I'm hoping it will become one of the most used menstrual products for women. You should try cloth pads (all brands are good) and for your lighter days i would recommend the sckoon cup which i use on my lighter days and use the moon cup on my heavy days (just in case you want to test put any others!).

Raquel Farré why does it make a difference seeing you exact amount of blood? I have a very light flow throughout my period ( i could theoretically leave a mini tampon in all day and it would leak) and i can realise that i don't have a lot of blood without a mc.
@Raquii98
@Raquii98 7 жыл бұрын
Jessy Lou well, then maybe in your case it doesn't make a difference, but in most people the amount of period blood changes throughout the days and the menstrual cup can help to know your body better, as you can see in the video

I already posted this comment as a reply to someone else but then I kept scrolling and saw so many people worrying about the same thing so maybe if I post it again everybody can see it. Anyway, here are my tips for those people who are still young-ish, don't use tampons (because they're scary af) and/or are virgins, but want to give menstrual cups a go: I was in a similar situation (I'm 20 but also a virgin and I've also never used tampons, only pads) for basically a whole year since I first heard of menstrual cups until I finally bit the bullet and just bought one a few months ago. It took me about three cycles to fully get the hang of it but now it's the most wonderful thing in the world. My tips: Find the right folding technique (I recommend the origami fold; if I fold my Meluna cup like that it's even smaller than a normal tampon) and give yourself time. Have some spare pads at home in case you just don't get it in (happened to me the first two times). Once you got it in make sure it's opened up properly (aka stick a finger into your vag and push away the sides a bit - they're really soft and flexible, it won't hurt - so the cup has enough space to open) and don't panic if you don't get it out! For me that was never really a problem but it's always helpful to know that you have a shit ton of muscles in that area so you can actually easily just push it out (some say it helps to imagine trying to poop, although it's different muscles). Once you get hold of the bottom of the cup squeeze it a bit to break the vacuum and then just pull it out. It might hurt a bit (it does for me) but honestly it's maybe a 2 on the pain scale and it's over in less than a second. I really hope this hasn't made you even more scared but from the bottom of my heart I can promise and guarantee you that it is not bad at all and in my opinion three months of being a bit uncomfortable because you haven't quite figured everything out yet is so worth the months and years to come where I can just completely forget about my period for 12 hours straight. Menstrual cups are truly wonderful! Good luck!

I love that I can actually use it in my lighter days as well, cause it doesnt matter if the cup is empty when you take it out (comparing to taking out a white tampon, that hurts!) And I love I only have to empty it two times a day; mornings and evenings, and the rest of the day I cant even remember having periods! And also if you are not quite sure if your periods start today or tomorrow, you can still put the cup on today just in case and it doesnt do any damage (like drying you too much the way pads and tampons do if you use them without your periods). Love these videos!

I just bought and started using a Lunette and I LOVE IT! It always took some struggling to get my Diva Cup to open, so I looked for a firmer cup that would open more easily, and the model 2 (larger) Lunette is it. I was afraid at first that the model 2 would be too wide and it would be uncomfortable, but since I was looking for one about the same length as the Diva Cup I went for it. I'm very happy with it and I can recommend it to everyone. I've also heard good things about the model 1 (the small one).

As a transgender nonbinary person who gets periods, my menstrual cup is one of my favourite things ever! I don't have to worry about the dysphoria that comes with buying menstrual products, I don't have to worry as much about finding gender neutral bathrooms throughout the day (because I don't have to empty It nearly as often!), and you can't feel it. It makes it so you don't really have to stress or really even think about your period. I'm just really really glad I tried it!

Menstrual cups are the best thing I ever did for my periods, I use alongside fabric pads because I have endometriosis & adenomyosis so I'm super heavy. They do take some getting used to but once you have got the hang of it it's great. I find it holds way way more than tampons, and also collects the clots rather than letting them build up behind a tampon. I also find them way way comfier because they sit around the cervix rather than jabbing against it. I advise watching lots of tutorials and stuff to get the jist. It can be a bit uncomfortable removing it if you don't release the suction. I find the best way is to pinch the bottom on it, wiggle it and pull. When I'm out and about I take wet wipes with me. If anyone is struggling I suggest persevering as once it clicks it's great x oh also I would normally bleed through a maternity pad and jumbo tampon in 1/2 an hour, but with the cup I can get up to 2 hours on good days.

I found myself watching one of your videos as a recommendation from KZbin, and I've now watched many more. I can't tell you how much I love your presenting style . You have an attractively open face, which predisposes your audience members to attend to what you say and to engage with its content and meaning, and you are so straightforward, funny, and utterly natural: I imagine I would enjoy watching you comment about anything... it wouldn't matter what. In this case, I was gripped, fascinated and entertained by your hands-on (in?) approach a topic that many people still find it difficult to discuss. By the conclusion of the video I knew more than I did at the start - win!. Thanks.

I am so glad you love the cup! People need to become more aware of how amazing they are! I also love how much you learn about your body when using a cup. It is important to figure out what height your cervix is at on your period because it can change. If you have a low cervix you will definitely need a smaller cup. There are some great videos online about finding the right cup too!

Hi Hannah! I´m totally impressed and grateful for your hormone diaries! Love it!! To the Menstrual Cup! I started wearing it 6 month ago and never ever want to go back to tampons. My first thought was to do something for the environment, but now I also do it because it makes my life so much easier! My tips for anyone who wants to try: It will take time to get used to. I tried both techniques and I prefer the "pinching". After I pinched it, I put a tiny bit of lupe on the top. When putting it in, I angle to the back, not up. And for taking it out! Squatting and pushing the cup down with your muscles. Works like a charm! Glad there is a place for us women to talk about things like that! Thank you so much! Anna

When I tried a menstrual cup the first time - and also now if im putting it in - I find it waaay easier to just squat on the bathroom floor and put it in, i. e. not sitting on the toilet. The risk of it dropping into the toilet is eliminated this way. Also, I prefer the cup to be a little wet from the water I washed it with instead of using lube. So I wash the cup, shake it firmly, dry my hands if they're too wet, squat, fold the cup, put it in, give it a control-swirl with the moist finger to assure it folded correctly and maybe push it up a little further if necessary - and I'm done :) Oh, and regarding the emptying: I always just empty it before I go out or when I know I don't really will have the opportunity to empty it. And because it doesn't absorb anything that's not a problem, even if I haven't bled too much into it. And btw - I don't know if anyone else has this - but I can feel when the cup is close to being full, because I can feel the blood in the cup sloshing around my cervix. Although I couldn't empty it instantly one time when I felt it being full, it didn't overflow until I got the chance to empty it about 1 or 2 hours later.

I think thinx and a menstrual cup are just the perfect period combo :) As you are looking for a smaller cup: Maybe try the Intimina lily Cup? It's special because it's collapsible, which is great for travel, because if you don't need it, it's only realy tiny.

That's the lily cup compact you're talking about (the regular one isn't collapsible) and it is awesome! Though, a word of warning: it is made of a softer material so it's a bit mor delicate to make sure it unfolds fully once it's in. But I'm absolutely loving it!

Wow Hannah, this episode was amazing! Like, I don't think I realized how much I wanted to review/frank discussion about period products and experiences until you started this series. This episode has certainly convinced me to try a menstrual cup! I am quite poor, and I hate having to buy new pads and tampons, not to mention all the things you said--the smell, the waste, the clean up, the hoping nothing clogs my toilet! And please PLEASE do a video about Thinx underwear. I started seeing ads for them on my Facebook, and I've been SO intrigued by it. Basically, bleeding kinda sucks, and I want it to suck less. I truly appreciate that you're making it suck less for people! THANK YOU!

@Erica Sure! As long as you empty and rince it regularly (about every 12 hours), it is perfectly safe to have a cup inserted whenever you want. I always put it in one or two days before I'm about to get my period, so I don't have to go run to the bathroom the moment I feel it started.

I had the exact same experience with my cup the first time around! Got it too far up and at a weird angle and I for sure thought I was never gonna get it out again, but it's been smooth sailing ever since. I personally don't think you need a smaller one for lighter days though -- it's not like tampons and pads where the size is dependent on your flow. The size of your menstrual cup is dependent on your vagina. But it's always a good idea to try different things!

I looove that you love Menstrual Cups ! :D I've adopted it 4 years ago. My best friend also uses it, and now I can't go even one period without it (I did once, and I hated going back to tampons and pads, so uncomfortable and gross). I now have 2 of them, one I prefer using, and one I have always in my bag, in case I forget the other while travelling. The only thing is, I have some difficulties to change it at uni : few toilets have sinks in them. I don't like using water bottles... But this is a minor inconvenience :D

also hearing the cries of first time trying to get it out = super relatable. i try not to put it up too high, but it just sort of shimmies up there of its own accord if i leave it in there long enough. but the squat and relax advice is so helpful - you will feel the cup move low enough to grasp it. and the comment about 'weird angles' is v. relevant - some friends and i were discussing the whole process of getting to know your body through this experience, and many of us reported having discovered that the cup needs to travel at an angle that is more skewed left or right than we had imagined. comparing notes on this funny little piece of silicone has felt like a mini sexual revolution in my life, and i love it! this vid brought me joy
