Let's meet the Leia Cup - a new menstrual cup line designed by an OB/GYN to work for those with a low cervix or weak pelvic floor muscles. It has 3 size options and I tried the size Large for my review.
While I think this brand needs to polish their rough edges (figuratively) to stand out better against more established brands, the cup design itself is a good one. And if you watch my review portion you will see that it worked perfectly for me. I'm mostly "Team Disc" so that's a rare accomplishment for cups these days.
Thanks so much for being here! Remember to follow along on social media and here on Shorts for content between long video uploads. I had to channel my girl boss EH pose for this thumbnail.

The real question is why do so many cup/disc brands begin with the letter L
@jeopardy60611
@jeopardy60611 Жыл бұрын
It's probably the same reason why so many pad/tampon brands end with the letter X. Tampax, Kotex, Playtex.

@@MzShonuff123 perhaps these brands use the same letter so they can be similar enough and gain the same recognition without infringing on a trademark.

The bigger story with this brand is that the co-founder and designer’s real first name is Lena. Which is already a cup brand. So in this case the brand has a similar name to the founder but couldn’t use her real name.

The “x” ending is a studied branding technique. You can find a lot about why online. It’s why Spanx went with that X. Then Thinx.

I love all your video reviews! I don’t need another menstrual product but I still enjoy the content. You’re doing a great job. ❤ I think I would have loved the Leia cup a few years ago, but I’ve converted to discs for the time being. 😅 Im using the hello disc this weekend. ☀️

I get the impression that cups are easier than using disposable stuff, because you don't have to keep changing stuff, and a cup lasts 12 hours before you have to take care of it. You are probably not nearly as stressed, not worrying about having enough stuff and not having to run to the bathroom as often.

I don't use a cup, I use a disc. Though, you are correct. I'm not running to the bathroom every 4 hours anymore to change my tampon. Also my disc self-empties which is nice.
@PeriodNirvana

My #1 reason for using a cup or disc is related to the convenience factor. I can wear any cup or disc the full 12 hours meaning I only have to think about my period first thing in the morning and before I go to bed. It means a very stress free period as long as I'm using a product I trust. I test a lot of products so not every period is easy, but if I didn't do that I could use the best product for me and always have an easy period :)

Less stressful? Yes. But if you have a heavy period, you still have to visit the bathroom to dump the cup/disc multiple times a day. For me, the magic combo has been disc and reusable period underwear. The disc is much less likely to leak than a tampon because it has higher capacity (I’ve gone through a super tampon in a hour many times). But if it *does* leak (rare), I don’t panic, no matter what position I’m in, because the period underwear gives me full coverage. I can lie on the couch without worrying about how long ago I put a tampon in or whether my position, the pad’s position, and gravity will all play nicely together. My periods are so much easier, it’s anticlimactic!

In case you’re wondering why a man would post on this video, I got concerned with feminine care when I was 17 and we were on a road trip and we had to keep pulling over so my mother could do her feminine care. I felt bad for her because I thought she was stressed and embarrassed because she couldn’t get to a bathroom when she needed to.

I tried a lot of menstrual cups , but all of them have a common problem, my cups tend to slide up in my vaginal canal as a result of which they start overflowing even when half full , my physical activity majorly includes regular household chores , walking and gentle streching . What do you suggest for this ? I have tried changing sizes also but same issue pops up always . TIA !!

i was wondering do you happen to have any theories about what causes different discs/cups to stain quicker (like are there different types of silicone?)? i kinda thought maybe the reason my hello disc stained so quickly was due to something i was doing but it's reassuring to hear other people had the same thing happen haha so ig it must be to do with the material? (genuinely curious i honestly don't mind the staining at all)
@PeriodNirvana
@PeriodNirvana Жыл бұрын
It’s most likely about the texture/finish in combination with the color. I’ve used many cups over the years and some stain faster than others. There are different class of “medical grade” silicone. Hello Disc uses the highest class. Ironically, it is a brand that shows stains faster. But my guess is on the finishing texture.
@sosos4306
@sosos4306 Жыл бұрын
I've noticed that the stain on my hello disc follows some kind of pattern on the bottom, which makes me think that it might be the thinnest part of the material that stains quickly?

I’m unsure if this is the right video to comment on but I need help with my menstrual cup I’m a 13 year old (female of course) I’ve had my period for 1 almost 2 years and I’ve only used pads (I’ve used those teen tampons twice so I could go to the pool but I did not insert them right I knew this cuz I could feel the tampon) and I found menstrual cups and I didn’t like them at first but after some convincing I gave them a try fast forward a few days ago I got my period and for the last couple of days i’ve tried to put my menstrual cup in without any luck I’ve used the punch down fold and I’ve used plain water as lubricant and it goes well a little bit of pain but I can move it up or tilt it more (I may have moved it left or right or down a couple of times i’m not sure) but when I get to the base I feel quite a bit of pain and moving it in any direction doesn’t help so I immediately just take it out and I feel very shaky after I’m too scared to put my finger up there to try to find my cervix I tried but it felt so gross I just really really couldn’t it makes me so uncomfortable I’ve watched so so many videos on menstrual cups and I’ve taken your quiz and it suggested the organicup small I think it was I really hope I can get some help I really wanna use cups because i’m so so sick of pads and menstrual cups seem amazing Thank you in advance for any replies!

If the pain is due to the suction of the cup I would recommend using discs instead! Though it might take a bit of trial and error to find the right one- some ppl say firmness doesn't matter but I found I am really sensitive and have to use a softer one. Now I use my disc a lot more than my cups so maybe discs would feel more comfortable! It's also easier for me to remove bc I don't have to care about breaking the suction. Good luck finding one that works for you!

@@PuffyPrincess484 no problem! also just 1 more add on, a lot of ppl seem to like the hello disc + on average they don’t have high sensitivity issues, so that might be a good start. it was my first and how I found out I needed softer ones but if I didn’t have that problem it really would’ve been perfect! (kim has a vid on that if you haven’t seen it already)

If it’s any help, I’ve been using the menstrual disc by Saalt for a few months now. No complaints once I got better at putting it in, and no discomfort like I experienced when I tried Diva years back. Salt’s discs come in at least 2 sizes.
@beardiemom

As others have said, it sounds like you would likely do better with a disk than a cup, if cups are so painful to you. If neither cups nor disks work for you, there is also reusable period pads or underwear that would at least cut down on the cost long term. Also, since you mentioned that you are very uncomfortable with touching yourself down there, which is important in finding the right size cup or disk, something that can help with that discomfort/grossness is to pleasure yourself, as you will get more familiar with your vulva and vagina. Obviously, only do this if you are comfortable doing so, don't do anything that feels wrong or painful, and if you choose to try that, go as slow as you need.
