I love trying new British junk food! This week I try out new British sweets and treats as a foreigner living in the UK. British food is always a bit weird, but what's not to love??

Hey! I'm Alanna - a twenty-something documenting my life as a Canadian living in England.

Here's some previous favourites (that I can remember!) Love: Pickled onion Monster Munch, Galaxy chocolate, Walnut Whip, wine gums, double-decker, scotch eggs, pork pies, steak & ale pies, fish and chips, pie and mash, sausage rolls, McCoys, Walkers, kettle crisps, Lindor, Cadbury cream eggs, Flake, Magnum ice-cream, Dairy milk buttons, Ripple, TimeOut, nearly any kind of crisp.. (things we have in Canada like Areo, Mars bars, Kinder, Kitkat, Twix, etc) No thank you: Jellie babies, marmite, IRN BRU, blackjacks, Haribo, Curly Wurly... Those are all I can think of now, I'm sure I've missed some obvious ones!

Did you try the salt and vinegar Discos? Or are you saving them for a future video? Also I find that the starbar is easier to eat if you keep it in your pocket for a while, it makes the caramel gooey mmmmmmmmm [thank god I have one in my kitchen drawer....]

Keep an eye out for Smiths 'Scampi Fries' - they're really just pub food like pork scratchings, but if you enjoyed the Nik-Naks, you'll probably love them. Goes incredibly well with a pint of bitter.

Yeah someone mentioned scampi fries, good if you liked the fishy niknaks, and there are also bacon fries. Both are usually served in pubs so you should find them OK :) I'm a big fan of large £1 bag of onion rings and beef or pickled onion Space Raiders. Double decker is my favourite chocolate bar but Lion bars and Drifters are tasty too. Let me know if you want any Northern Ireland specific foods :)

You are compelling, intriguing and your beauty is beyond compare, you have a very lucky boyfriend. Keep up the good work you're fascinating to watch, if you ever go back to Canada please keep the channel going about everyday life in Canada.

Pork scratching part was hilarious. They're mostly eaten when people have a few pints inside them. Dandelion and burdock (similar to root beer), Tizer, Vimto,. Boost chocolate bar, Lion bar, Picnic, wine gums. One hardly sees them these days but shops used to sell boiled sweets by the quarter pound. Be great if you found a shop that sold them and sampled them in a video (although your dentist wouldn't be very pleased). A very entertaining video- thanks!

I think it's called a 'crunchy crisp'. It basically tastes like a normal chocolate bar with cereal in it.

You hit the nail on the head with Pork Scratchings. It is just fried bacon rind but you only realy eat it when you are drunk, a bit like Donner Kebabs, after a few drinks they are delicious, but they are very salty and after alcohol your body craves salt so that is probably why.

I would recommend bacon flavored wheat crunchies (crisps), drifter chocolate bar (great dipped in tea/coffee) and a smoky bacon crisp sandwich (butter bread and empty a whole packet of crisps on to it and top with the other slice, it's a high carb' snack). There is another scampi flavored crisp in the uk. They come in a small green bag and they're more pillow shaped. They're usually sold in pubs behind the bar but you can buy them in the shops I can't remember the name though.

Hi Alana, great video (as always) you are very brave eating pork scratchings; they are only edible when you're really drunk; you don't notice the taste. I was hoping you would taste the third Nik Nak flavour; I knew you'd like the Scampi & Lemon one. Personally, I can't stand either pineapple or grapefruit; so that Lilt didn't appeal to me at all. You need to try Kola Kubes sweets, if they still do them; they used to be my favourite sweets when I was young (I managed to go cold turkey).

Some of my favourites are Bombay mix (not especially british but I love indian food), after eight mints, cadbury's dairy milk oreo chocolate bars, Eccles cakes, frijj chocolate milk, cadbury's creme eggs(easter themed) and burton's fish n chips savoury biscuits. I'd recommend all of those.

Lion bar (not cadburys) but warm it up in your hand a bit - it has so much caramel it can be a bit hard on your teeth (in terms of being solid) if cold, and hard work to chew. Tizer if you can find it. Space Raiders (pickled onion flavour).

Another mint offering from our favo(u)rite Canadian! I'm right with you on pork scratchings- thirst-inducing and tooth-breaking, best after a few beers. I've not tried Nik-Naks (yet) but I'm off to the supermarket soon. Keep the videos coming- I love to see/hear your take on our li'l country.

You need to try a walnut whip and a frys mint creme for chocolate and Kp skips and cheese and onion squares for crisps.

OMG Alanna! I was just going through your past taste test vids, and just watched your 1st where you said you're allergic to shrimps. I thought nooooo check the ingredients on the scampi & lemon niknaks. When you tried them, I figured well the video title would have been different if they had the old recipe. Scampi is a sort of prawn/lobster type crustacean, I'm pretty sure that flavour niknaks used to contain a prawn ingredient. Wow... always read the ingredients if you have an allergy (my hubby is a Coeliac, reading the ingredient list is essential to prevent catastrophe).

Our local pub would sell pork scratchings from the butcher up the road. Sold in little plastic bags, no use by dates, and still with the hairs on the rind that were too stubburn to burn off in the frying. Definately requires a few drinks first! My wife was horrified by them.

If you can track them down (and a pub is probably your best bet as they tend to be sold as pub snacks these days) then try Smiths' Cheese Moments or Smith's Scampi Fries. They also do Bacon Fries which are lovely if you can find a packet of them where they remembered to include the flavouring.
