Those aren’t corsets. Something being in the “shape” of a corset and having some lacing doesn’t make it a corset. The materials and the construction are crucial for making a corset function like a corset. And FIY, a corset shouldn’t be made of any kind of stretchy material. Not even 2% spandex or naturally stretchy cotton weave.

The first one wasn't based in history (to my knowledge) but the 2nd one looks like stays (mother of corsets) and the 3rd one looks the most like an edwardian corset (think titanic times). Edit- the last one looks the most to me like regency stays (think Bridgerton)

My girl was watching your video, and she wears corsets, and she pointed out that these aren’t technically corsets at all, and the last top isn’t even a corset design; it’s a bustier - which isn’t a form of corset, it’s basically an extended bra. She’s only pointing this out cause she would really like to see y’all in some proper corsets, with the boning and everything. Fashion Nova does sell actually corsets if you ever want to make a part 2 to this or something.

I actually LOVE corsets, real, proper, steelboned corsets, not these flimsy tops without any boning whatsoever. Don't get me wrong, some were cute tops, but it physically hurts me to call them corsets... A corset isn't cheap, it's an experience though, wearing it in so it contorts to your body and really changes your bodyshape. Love me a tightly laced hourglass waist.

You should compare real Victorian corsets (RedThreaded makes amazing ones!) to modern waist trainers/corsets. It's crazy how terrible and painful modern corsets are, and how much people project their experiences with them on the amazing, well crafted Victorian corsets. Also, PLEASE wear something underneath your corsets if you do try them.

Just incase you guys didn't know, these are not actual corsets. Theyre corset inspired tops. A corset has laces and steel bones and sinches you in. It can also train your waist. But I do think these tops are cute, love fashion nova and really appreciate the review 💜
