Hello U2 After watching your videos and being in the Region on family visits anyway, I persuaded my relatives to take me to Heidelberg for an afternoon. Been to the old town and the bridge, walken up to the castle and took the cable car down, stood on top of the barrel. It was great fun. I really wanted to re-live your Kaffee-und-Kuchen- experience but it was already past 6 pm and also I could'nt unfortunately find the Café. So I went to Vetters instead and did the Bierbrettel. The beer is amazing. Their seasonal beer was a fruity summer beer to die for and the Taste of their Starkbier was odd but fantastic, too. If you had told me that it would have been cough medecine, I think I would have belived you. So thanks for All the inspiration, it was a marvelous afternoon. I am looking forward to your next video.

I love your videos. Heidelberg might be the best place for us to visit, given that you can get veggie food for my wife😊 That Turkish dish looked delicious 🤤

Thanks so much! We had good luck with the veggie options this time, which isn't always the case.

Danke fürs leckere Video! "Als ich einmal in HD wohnte ..." I moved to Heidelberg and Germany sight unseen. I got to work at an institute at the top of the very same hill on whose flank the Schloß ruins have settled. In the two glorious years in the HD, I was introduced to many good things, including my first European-style schnitzel at a place called ... "Schnitzelbank." But this is Deutschland, and the schnitzel was either gonna be pork or turkey, and not every schnitzel was going to be pounded and pressed flat and thin. But the deep-fry and possible gravy were important details never to be overlooked. (In the following months, I converted in true "Wiener Schnitzel" fashion somewhere inside Vienna's 6th district ...) But I digress: Schnitzelbank in Heidelberg's Old Town is a place I'll try to stop in whenever I'm back "home".

Brauhaus Vetter is my favorite place to go to. It's nicer and far more relaxing to sit outside, though. I always go for the Bratkartoffeln with an extra Spiegelei (3) together with a Maß of Helles. Thank you so much for this entertaining and highly enjoyable series on Heidelberg!

@@NearFromHome Pro tip: grab a 1 liter glass bottle of Helles at Vetter for €4 (plus 3€ Pfand) and nestle down on the Neckar banks across the Altstadt during summer. Also make sure to visit the "Philosophenweg" during late afternoons (for lighting reasons). In 2024, you should also consider paying a visit to Würzburg, my most favorite Franconian city!

Oh, she gave you a sweet Schorle, which is not wine with mineral water, but with lemonade. So that is quite uncommon, but if you like it, it's fine.

Hello again! For some German Wine tasting, you need to visit Wuerzburg, and also Bad Duerkheim. Two completely different styles of wine, but both very tasty. In Bad Duerkheim, there is the world's largest wine barrel--which houses a restaurant.
@NearFromHome Жыл бұрын
Yes! We have been meaning to go to Würzburg for some time. Bad Dürkheim also has the wine festival right?
@bernhardneef7996 Жыл бұрын
@rodgweraubach: well the biggest wine barrel which has never been a real wine barrel is in Bad Dürkheim, but the world largest REAL wine barrel is located in the Heidelberg castle cellar. Need to see that as well
@leadinggirl13104 ай бұрын
In Bad Dürkheim, however, you should note that a normal Palatinate Weinschorle is ALWAYS half a liter. You can order it sweet (with lemonade) or sour (with sparkling water). For a sweet version, I recommend a "süße Weißherbstschorle" (like the rosé one you drank) and for a sour version, the "saure Rieslingschorle". A good meal to go with this is a Winzersteak, marinated in Riesling and spices, served with braised onions, and at a wine festival, you eat the whole thing in a bread roll to go. For vegetarians, I recommend fried mushrooms (deglazed with white wine) with garlic sauce.

We like gravy with Schnitzel. We don't like to pour it on the Schnitzel, because it makes the crispy breading soggy. ;-)

Hm, with my little knowledge of the local dialect I would say that "Bobbes" actually means "butt". Btw. you really found a nice german village with Dilsberg. Born in southern Germany, I did not know it. However, I knew there are some lovely villages in the area from driving through.

These types of glasses are a German invention and only then do you know how good wine can be! White wines from Germany were once more expensive than Bordeaux, before the 2 World Wars. Neither of you are wine drinkers, but the German Wine Route is a must, for wine, food, hiking and cycling. Almonds and figs thrive there.

My complaint is that half of your vlog is advertisement for your brand and other vlogs consequently you dont linger very long on the place youre visiting at the time. Its like 1 long smarmy advert, sorry to say.!

Looking at the analytics, this video has gotten 7 thousand views since posting. It has made 61.51€. Camille currently works part time editing the videos, we dedicated three whole days filming this series, and spent a lot of money on transportation/hotels/food ect. I'm not going to not advertise my own channel after being given such measly views and monetisation for all the work we do. You are welcome to hit the donate button if you'd like to see less self advertisement. In the mean time, each of the sections have chapters, so that you can easily skip over scenes that displease you.
