CORRECTION! For some reason I said "Rue de la Cornichon" which means "Path of the pickle" 🥒 (don't ask me why I said that 😅) But it's actually "Rue de la Corniche" and we highly recommend walking it when you visit Luxembourg. The views were incredible!

The glass platform of that elevator was clear when it first opened which was even more scary. It got scratched up and is milky now :( sadly at the Moment its closed for prolonged maintenance. So you were lucky. The selfdriving mini bus shuttle drives to the train station a few hundred meters further away. That train station in build into the hillside and is linked via a funicular to the Kirchberg area of town, which is the financial hub. Luxembourg people actually rarely eat typical Luxembourg food. That's mainly what the poor people used to eat 100 years ago. The posh people always looked to the refined french cuisine. But it's still tasty. The Kachkéis cheese: either you love it or you hate it. No middle ground. There is a saying: "en as nëmmen echt wann en pecht" which means that only if it stick like glue you know that you got the real thing. There are different versions though. I prefer it cooked up with cream and/or herbs. Luxembourg is very expensive even outside of the touristy areas. I was laughing at the "cornichon" instead of "corniche ". Very funny. I might use that to entertain my friends that I'm showing around next time 🤭😉

This, and your previous video in Vianden, are definitely some of the better Luxembourg travel vlogs I've seen from food/travel KZbinrs. The south of Luxembourg (namely Esch-Uelzecht and Diddeleng) is sort of my second home as I grew up spending a lot of time there, and one of the things that I find about tourists is that they tend to believe what they're told by EU/Benelux tourism agencies and only book a day trip into the capital city. I always tell people to spend at least four or five days to explore, if they're going to stay in one region, or even to stay for a week or two if they're going to explore the rest of the country and/or the Greater Region. There's a lot to do, particularly during the times when there are cultural festivals, and if you love the outdoors, there are a lot of opportunities for very scenic forest hikes and mountain biking. Also, I always advise people to stay outside of the capital city as it's 10x less expensive, and the country is small enough that you're never really that far away from Ville de Luxembourg, nor any of the other bigger cities/towns, if you really need to access the amenities of a larger urban centre. Anyway, thanks for the great content, and hope to see you back exploring more of this overlooked little Duchy sometime in the near future!

The plum tart reminded me of my Mom. We live in NYC in Manhattan Upper East Side, heavily German, Hungarian, Irish, etc, neighborhood years ago. One of the bakeries used to have a plum pie or plum tart every summer in around August the plums didn't stick out like yours i think it was just all plums and a heavy crust took a bit to cut it, but absolutely delish. actually looked exactly like the one you ate. Mom used always be adventurous for trying foods from other countries even though she was born and raised in Ireland on plainer foods.

I'm from Lancaster County Pennsylvania and that cheese looks very similar to what people in this area call cup cheese. Cup cheese is not something I eat, but I remember my grandparents eating it. Lancaster county was settled by many Mennonites and Amish, who emigrated from German-speaking areas of Europe, so it seems possible that there is a connection between the two dishes.

Uncle Chuckles They go on holiday. Some stagger it with July but basically yea. They flee the heat, park themselves on some Mediterranean beach and enjoy the summer along with everyone else. The main tourists sites are still covered but office workers, your locally owned shops & restaurants (as in this case) shut down. Guessing they don’t value the € above living. It’s a good attitude I think. I’m a Brit so seemed odd to me at first, lazy even, lived in Brussels for 5 years (thanks Brexit) but I thought about it and decided YAY THEM! Every summer when I walked past my CLOSED local grocery store, boulangerie, boucherie, fromagerie, fav Ma & Pa restaurant etc i was cheering for them on the inside.
