Hello everyone and welcome!
Today I go out to the woods to try my new Ohuhu Gasifier stove. I snowshoe out to a new spot, dig out an area in the deep snow and show off the stove. I display all the different parts and how they work together, then I light it and cook some breakfast sausage, eggs and toast.
Join me on this adventure and see how it turns out.
Thanks for watching!

Many people don't like the rotating pot supports....think they will break. Have had my stove for over 10 yrs now w/no problems. If you drop even one charcoal briquette in the fire pot you always have hot coals to restart the flames. Best $20. usd stove you can buy.

Best 20$ stove is the Huanbush stove from Japan, but yeah the ohuhu is nice. The lixada tower stove is good too, even in stainless steel. Less stable though - might need tent pegs in the bottom to help stabilize it

I enjoyed your video with someone actually cooking. It appears that your burn time after gasification to adding more wood was 6 to seven minutes. I watched another video that used 2 cups of wood pellets & got almost 30 minutes of burn time. I found a no name stainless steel pot that the Ohuhu fits into. Making a very simple compact cookset. I have the GI canteen, cup, and stove that I also carry to heat water for coffee, etc and simple canned soups & stews.

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it. I have tried with wood pellets and I agree it burns way better. I bring pellets now if I use it for cooking and use sticks if I am just making a coffee or tea.🤝

That reload of wood wasn't "smoking" as much as it was drying out - releasing steam. Once it ignites, the steam would stop.

It’s a great stove at a great price. Durable as all get out and as you said, wood everywhere for fuel. Just turn the pot supports in to support smaller based pots. I was surprised that you missed that. Cut your fuel wood 3” long and stack the pieces vertically in the burn chamber. I get at least 35 minutes of burn time never having to add any more wood. Thanks for the video.

@CaptainBlack.1 if im running mine on sticks i often have them higher than the holes to start them. and by the time it gets going the top holes are uncovered. and with pellets which works the best i have found just below them to fill then a few small twigs on top to get some heat going.

After watching this video I found it necessary to buy one and I have to say I absolutely love it. Did some experiments with different kinds of fuel and find that wood pellets work best for me.Fill it up then drop in one of your fire starters let it burn a few minutes then I’m good to go. I get about 40 minutes of burn time. Also I think the pellets burn cleaner then twigs
@Anndyinthewoods
@Anndyinthewoods Жыл бұрын
I agree! Pellets burn cleaner than twigs. I think it's because they are compressed hardwood and extremely dry. Also, because they are small, they all stay below the top vent holes where the secondary burn happens. Thanks for Watching! 🤝

The WalMart 7” Ozark Trails is only 40 bucks! Pellets the only way to go, top burn ONLY. Doesn’t work at all starting fire at the bottom. And this model DOES have a slot to feed wood. I bought the lightest, smallest, least expensive stake-in-ground adjustable and swing away grate that Amazon has, and it is PERFECT for these kinds of stoves. These fires burn HOT and HIGH, and cooking with a grate or pan directly on those flames is a recipe for disaster. My grate is about twice the width of the stove, so not only can you adjust the height, you can position the grate so half is a cooler, warming zone. FINALLY, the big plus, for burning wood: Wrap the grate with foil, or put a thick square pan on it…adjust the grate about 6 or so inches (or more) above the stove…and you have an incredible heat deflector which turns these units into efficient, warm bonfires.

Thank you for demonstrating. Ordering this stove. Perfect for any season for cooking. I use alcohol for most stuff but I need a small wood gasifier for larger pots to boil pasta. They're more substantial than ramen. Wood will go literally & easier to keep going. I likebthe way you improvise and use ingenuity. Subscribed!

Would be cool if someone made a trangia insert that was a gasifier
@pedroclaro7822
@pedroclaro7822 7 ай бұрын
Trangia is aluminum. Would melt after a strong burn without a shadow of a doubt. Maybe it could resist that with an inner steel burn chamber. But even if the pot stand/windshield didn’t melt, you would risk melting the pan and plastic on the kettle, rendering them useless. There’s a cheap version of it called the Robens cookery King with a removable Trangia stand, so you could possibly try a fire in that one without having to cut the alcohol stove stand, but anodized aluminum will still melt at 600C. What I have is one of these Chinese gasifiers and a widesea 1.3L billy pot. Stove goes inside perfectly. I had a tatonka billy pot too, but I gave it away. Old setup was around 1kg. New pot weighs 160g. I’m gonna stop using the gasifier though because I got a Picogrill 85 now.
