Be sure to hit Nanao up for her AMAZING bread soup recipe. Well worth the misery of her recounting every horrible thing that ever happened to her and boy howdy is it a lot of recounting. I'd add that if you decide to continue playing, your flight ability is handy for getting to decent vantage points. Or fight from it's shoulder like a true heir to the Tsukioka family! Sandlot revisited the giant robots in later EDF games and sadly/fortunately improved the whole "how do I even see what is happening" aspect of playing a video game. I'll always have a soft spot for the R.A.D. way of doing it though.

Stellar VO work on display, presumably from whichever English-speaking interns they could round up from the office building the developers happened to be in.

The English Dub is intentionally extremely cheesy, it’s by the same people who make the EDF Games
@nikodem123asdfАй бұрын
@@Assasin2 the voice of German professor once commented on my Longplay of this game and confirmed it's actually both intentional and unintentional. The people who did voices were not professional voice actors, many just worked at Enix of US and they were given little to no direction. In fact the German accent for the professor was his idea and nobody stopped him haha. He did say that Enix did upgrade their standards for Grandia Xtreme and you can definitely notice.

I've never clicked faster on an SGF video. RAD is in my experience the most fun game in existence. When I played it together with a friend I laughed and smiled so hard my face hurt. This is one of those games where even parts which are "bad" make it better and parts which are good are amazing. Also this game secretly has the first lesbian MC in an English game simply because none of the dialogues change based on which hero you pick.
@peppermillers8361Ай бұрын
Doesn't Fallout 2 have it beat by a couple of years, or do CRPGs not count? Didn't Fear Effect also have a lesbian MC? Still, that's a funny quirk. I love stuff like that.
@nikodem123asdfАй бұрын
@@peppermillers8361 honestly I didn't know about fallout 2 having homo erotic relationships. Fear Effect may have come out around the same time as this. I remember it was released for PS1 when PS2 was already out.

I love this game so much. A couple things if you continue. 1. As people have said, get on top of buildings for a better view of your robot. 2. You eventually get all 3 robots. Gilang is actually the most newbie unfriendly one as it lacks the plane bot's mobility and Valvoga's powerful rocket punch. As shown too, the fortress mode for Gilang is kinda trash since you have to damage enemies before they stop teleporting. It still gets the job done, but if you want to try other ones, I recommend Valvoga. Especially since it inevitably becomes your main robot anyway since it gets a super mode eventually. 3. If memory serves, the tutorial actually has story and lore in it... including explaining why you have rocket shoes. (It's what you expect. It's experimental tech for the company that you're testing in everyday use and no one seems to care).

I know American Anaim and Japanese English translations in general are (for some reason) supposed to make characters sound like they are all mentally but this game goes beyond expectations in terms of Anaim voice acting. Jokes aside there's something very curious about this game. Most of robot games from Japan are kind of inspired by Gundam style quick moving robots. This one with this slow moving hulks destroying everything around them makes me think of Robot Jox which is something I would never have thought of being attractive for Japan.
