This was an interesting approach to markers, in my opinion. Most people I see reviewing Ohuhu get the pastel set because they already had a vibrant set and found it highly lacking in lighter shades (which they are, I have a large set myself). Seeing someone start and work ONLY with those was refreshing to me.

Oh, you have one of their sets? How do you like it? :) I've always found that markers work best for me when I can blend very similar shades into gradients, so this smaller set seemed like a good starting point - and I can always layer darker shades with colored pencils on top. But I'm definitely curious about some of those darker, intense shades... 👀✨

@@evydraws-art I haven't used them in a while, but I quite like them. They don't blend as well as the ones I used in my early 20's (prismacolor markers), but for the price of them, they're fantastic. They are incredibly vibrant! I do recommend trying them out if you feel so inclined. I typically don't use such intense colours, but doing so for practice or just for fun is a nice change of pace, especially if you choose a subject to let that vibrancy shine. 🙂

Thank you, I'm definitely considering it, especially for doing more expressive urban sketching! And blending is where these soft colors really shine - the gradients with these are so smooth, I was curious how the more intense colors would act in comparison! The price really is a big advantage and I'm especially curious about the skin tone sets!

@@evydraws-art I would love to get my hands on the skintone set one day! I'm pretty sure the more intense colours will behave the same way with how you chose to use them here, especially if you get tones close enough together for smooth gradients!

I really hope so, too! I think the colorless blender also helps, especially with that "wet-on-wet" approach :D

a true master can conquer any material, and you're the proof. and also, i never realized that the blender can be used under the other colors and not only on top. will definitely use this tip since i'm slowly getting a hang of markers, but not every paper is able to maintain harmonious gradients

Thank you - the pastel markers are definitely markers on "easy mode" since they're so much simpler to blend! Using the blender tool to prepare the paper actually helps a lot, but it can make the paper buckle/warp if used too much. :)

What about alcohol marker colors fading in time? I used to be into this medium, but that information made me abandone it. And I'm not talking about sunlight exposed paintings, but normal stuff painted in a sketchbook.

Oh, did you notice yours fading? I exclusively keep my marker stuff away from light (sketchbooks, or my decade old Manga drawings in folders) and last time I checked those old drawings, the colors looked similar to how I remember them?
