Along with his family, Abdilahi “A.B.” Hassan opened the first Hoyo’s location in 2014 on Columbus’s North Side. Their aim is to introduce guests to Somali food and ultimately reach a wider audience. By combining traditional food with the modern fast-casual delivery method, A.B. and his family encourage guests to try their family recipes that taste both exotic and familiar at the same time. Thank you for trying our food 😊 The sambusas are typically cooked in very large batches and then frozen/refrigerated. Somali food is very meat/ fish, flat bread or anjera cantered (different from Ethiopian injera). The rice and veg complement the meat components of the meal to create a balance, so it’s very hard to get the entire experience if you are both vegetarian but I’m glad you liked it.

There’s a hole in the wall restaurant called “Hadhwanaag restaurant” (4501 Sullivant ave 43228). It’s a Somali restaurant I discovered on accident and it just might have been the BEST thing I’ve ever come across. The waiter recommended a lamb shank platter and I fell in love with it. I go there every time I’m near that area
