Having less to no employees doesn't mean they will transfer the money savings to us. The proof is in the fact that we have progressed so far with tech and machinery, yet we work the same 40 hours a week (or more) and wages have stagnated
@Homer-OJ-Simpson2 жыл бұрын
Median incomes adjusted for inflation in 2019 was $36,426. In 1981 it was $23,382. Medina incomes did go up -- wages might not have gone up much because incomes are being measured as total incomes which includes regular wages + bonus + additional benefits. People are just getting paid more and more wit bonuses and other benefits such as 401k, etc.
@Homer-OJ-Simpson2 жыл бұрын

Companies don't pay what they want, they pay what they can. If you don't have enough money, it's because you have plenty of state. You have no idea the tax hell to which the state mafia subjects them, nor how much they have to pay for each employer, that's why in each state and country what they earn for the same job is different. Find out a little about how the economy works before blaming the companies, slave of the state.

@@OneFreeMan17 Hello! It's been over a year and if you're interested, I no longer work at Starbucks. I know shocking. Looking back it's possible I just read the title of the video without actually watching thefull video before deciding to leave a comment. I have a habit of doing that sometimes, or a lot. I thought Starbucks was replacing humans (employees) with robots or something. After re watching the video I see that they still have employees. It's no different than your average Starbucks except it charges you automatically when you take an item off the shelf. Which, I guess is cool but you still have to wait for your drink to be made by a person anyways. Also sometimes people want to pick something up and examine it before deciding to purchase it, or maybe it somehow only charges them for consuming it? Idk, they weren't exactly specific in the video. Either way I don't really care too much. It's not my company.

As an introvert, even I don't like this. I'd rather just have a cashier who I can get whatever I want from. I never order more than a drink, but I prefer ordering even my drink with a cashier because of the perceived idea in my head that the cashier may know what is good better than I do since I am not someone who is truly well educated on coffee. I only drink Starbucks for the taste after all for the most part (and spending money at my school location). Plus most of the people working at my school location know me well enough to know my name and some know my regular order also. It feels like they know me better than some app ever would and as someone who doesnt have a lot of friends, being recognized by the employees does feel nice.

@@uptin at the same time, one farmer today has a way higher potential income than a pre industrial farmer, because his productivity increased drastically. But for service workers it is a reality that with downsizing, the workload and therefore productivity of the remaining employees increases, but compensation rarely gets improved and prices for the consumer certainly won't drop. This is why Unions are important, because companies will prevent a fair compensation in relation to productivity because they aim for absurd profit margins.
