In this week's travel vlog we try the best food in Belfast! Join us on this epic Northern Ireland food tour!
We start our culinary adventure in Belfast as we explore the city's best Irish food and drinks! Our journey begins with a hearty Irish breakfast at Maggie May's Belfast Cafe, setting the tone for a day full of delicious discoveries.
Next, we savor succulent lamb shank and creamy seafood chowder at Darcy's Belfast, followed by a stop at Maggy Mays Chippie for a classic Belfast pastie. To quench our thirst, we head to the Duke of York for a refreshing pint of Guinness and Irish lager.
Our adventure continues with a visit to the Friend at Hand, where we sample some fine Irish whisky. For a quick snack, we dive into an assortment of Irish crisps and soda, showcasing some local favorites.
At The Crown Liquor Saloon, we indulge in traditional Irish stew and champ, a comforting and flavorful combination. We then take a detour to Flout! to try their viral pizza that's been making waves in Belfast.
A sweet treat awaits us at Aunt Sandra's Candy Factory, where we enjoy the unique Yellowman candy. Our final stop is at Rhiannon's Cakes and Bakes for some delightful traditional tray bakes.
Don't miss out on this ultimate Irish food tour of Belfast!

Don’t listen to the Bigots complaining about the Union Jack 🇬🇧 posted on your thumbnail Putting the tricolour and Union Jack on the thumbnail was the best choice This is the constant hatred and bigotry that divides this small country You do an amazing video on our small country and they’re offended by a flag that represents over half the country

It's literally impossible to please everyone. You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. In our first Belfast video, we only had the Union Jack. Then we had people get mad about that. So we put the Irish flag as well. Then people get mad at that. If there were a proper Northern Irish flag to use, we'd just use that..but we can't. Haha. It's sad when people focus on something like that, instead of just watching and enjoying the video. 😕

Hahaha. Second time someone has said that! It's the East Coast Canadian accent coming out. The food was so good. Literally every meal we had was super tasty. The only meal that was slightly disappointing was the "boxty" we had in our previous Belfast video, which wasn't really a boxty at all. There was a lot of rain throughout this trip as well, but through the power of editing, it seems like it never rained at all! Haha. It rained during the Tatyo scene, right before the traybakes, and while we were inside a few locations. We did get some brilliant moments of sunshine, though, and we took advantage of it when we could! Despite the rain, we had an amazing time.

In the UK, the name for that "bap" changes with each region. Where I'm from, it's a barm, in Nottingham it's a cob, elsewhere it's a bap, bread roll, etc. That looks a delicious fry-up. Not sure I'd have a pancake with it though.

Ahhhh should have snagged a guiness in Kellys Cellar! thats the only place in the city ill drink it haha Also for Maine softdrinks, theres a lot of flavours, my favourite is always the pineapple! You can still get them delivered I think, but you used to get a guy going around on a truck and would deliver the glass bottles (it tastes better in the glass) like a milk float/van. And you used to leave back your bottles and got a discount on your other bottles! My grandparents swore by it and always always had a bottle or two in the fridge. You tried some great spots in the city for food, Fish City has my favourite chowder, little pricey but it comes with this Guiness Wheaten Bread that I would kill for! its so so good, but do come back when you can! Theres lots of other nice spots around the country, especially the antrim coast and up in Derry (not Londonderry) Im so so so glad you went to Flout, i live nearby (15 min walk which is great for lunch) and its so amazing. Real good job what Pete has accomplished and its a world class pizza. He has some amazing flavours, some are hit and miss, but mostly its solid! One thing I'll point out, is that Ulster is not synonymous with Northern Ireland. To use a German language equivalent, think of Northern Ireland as Germany, and Ulster as Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Belgium. Ulster is 9 counties in the North of the island of Ireland. 6 of those counties remained in the UK, while 3 gained independence, along with the entirety of the provinces of Leinster, Munster and Connacht. Despite the name Northern Ireland, the island isn't divided in two internationally. Northern Ireland is the North Eastern 20% of the island of Ireland. In fact, the most northerly point and northerly county of Ireland, Donegal, is an Ulster county within the Republic of Ireland

Cheese and Onion ftw You missed a trick not trying Beamish or Murphys at the Duke of York, both stouts very hard to find in Ireland outside of Cork. Have never tried Murphys but I do prefer Beamish to Guinness. Harp use to be brewed just across the border in Dundalk. Diageo have centralised operations to where everything is brewed in Dublin, Us craft beer drinkers are not a fan, too much monopoly over the taps in the North. All stems from the troubles where pubs were being bombed, only Guinness would supply finance but that meant contracts that would see them control what you can and cannot sell for 40+ years.
@wherearewe-yt
@wherearewe-yt 8 күн бұрын
I used to work at an "Irish style Pub" in Toronto, Canada and we served Murphys on tap, rather than Guinness! I was considering trying one, for old times sake. Especially since I had already have a few pints of Guinness during this trip. I don't know that either of us have had Beamish before. We'll have to give it a go, next time we're Ireland. Cork is absolutely on our list! That's absolutely insane. Certainly did not know that. Maybe you can recommend us some craft beers and ciders for the next time we're in Ireland. We always try to make it a point to try both the local, more popular beers - as well as some craft places.

Pity old authentic Belfast is long gone now it’s just full of junkies and homeless now mad to think that in the hight of the troubles homelessness was never a thing. Sad you went to maggie mays always been over priced, that to me isn’t an Ulster fry it was a fry with potato and soda bread! Every house is different but what made an Ulster fry in my mums house was Bacon or frying ham, steak sausage or pork/ pork & leak but they had to come from a butcher not a packet in sight 😉 Veg roll soda potato bread a scotch pancake black pudding a mug of tea 👌😉 as for the Belfadt bap that thing looked like a crusty roll where as a Belfast bap is much larger, when there wasn’t much money about you would get a bap and slice it to have with a cup of tea either some butter on its own or a bit of cheese or ham if you had the money, where as the work force especially when young you would of got a Belfast bap and a bag or two of tayto to put inside it and that done you for lunch. The Pastie, pasties have Changed over the years and many including myself stay away from the pink ones because they kill you eith heart burn and a lot of places now the pasties are tiny, a pastie was made up of all the left over chips and I guess sausages where as now it’s old chips and sausage spice hence the pink colour. Years ago there were proper old greasy spoons we call them in London little cafes and stew shops lol you would go in and get an Ulster fry for like £2 or the stew shop a bowl for a pound pipping hit with a Belfadt bap to dip in to the stew or soup mmmmmm😋 Belfadt used to be full of butcher shops plus we used to have Bacon/ pork shops where it only sold pork, mum used to go to Mcormics and get the frying ham I think they were big slices of top tank gammon and bacon ribs god we all love bacon ribs my mouth is watering now thinking of them lol it is sad because a lot of Belfast now is just touristy the soul of the place is well gone. If your still here try the Veg Roll you can even get Veg sausages and yes it’s not made of just vegetables lol veg roll is my favourite when my grandad came to England to visit the suitcase would be filled with soda potato bread sausages veg roll and Dulse lol it’s a seaweed thing again if you are still here then go to sawyers at the back of boots chemist 😉👍 good luck

We had a full soda in our first Belfast video as well. OH man...so damn good. I imagine a home cooked Ulster Fry with everything, can't be beat. Belfast is nothing compared to Vancouver and Seattle! We just finished filming there, and as beautiful as these cities are, we'd never seen so many junkies in our life. Vancouver had people passed out, face down in the pavement, EVERY where you go. Didn't even know if they were alive or dead. All of them just shoot up in the streets because drugs are de-criminalized. Absolutely nuts! We're gone now, but we'll have to try a veg roll next time. I wouldn't say the addition of a a hashbrown no longer makes it an Ulster fry. It has literally everything else an Ulster Fry would have, does it not? What really seems to set an Ulster Fry apart from the rest, is the addition of the potato and soda farl (which this had). Neither the hashbrown nor the pancake are traditional, but it doesn't take away from the fact that every other ingredient is there. If we had just set those aside on a plate, would it now not be an Ulster Fry? Haha. If we've learned one thing, traveling all over the UK (and part of Ireland) is that fry-ups differ greatly, not just from region to region, but from restaurant to restaurant. If we polled our North Irish audience on what they have on their Ulster Fry, we'd get a dozen different answers (we've already had plenty of conflicting information in the comments). Thanks for watching!

Ireland has never been a completely independent country.... For many years it was England 1000 years ago and then it was brought into a Union for for hundreds of years, until independence and then Northern Ireland was made to keep for the UK. I find it so strange today how people act as if Ireland is this separate this than the UK stole..... No.... Revisionist history. The people of England, Ireland, NI, Scotland and Wales are all the same and in fact Celts in Ireland were pushed to small areas, so you'll find that people are pretty related all over. Like how Northern and western France, Northern Germany and even Norway has a lot of bloodlines in the UK and Ireland. People need to stop thinking that history only existing the past 100 years.

Not entirely true. Ireland was independent as a number of kingdoms prior to the repeated attempts to conquer it by England. At no point in time has Ireland been part of England however. The first few centuries saw nominal English rule in the Dublin area. After that the Lordship of Ireland was created and expanded. This was then upgraded to the Kingdom of Ireland. In 1801 it joined the Kingdom of Great Britain to become the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Meanwhile the Kingdom of England was part of the North Sea Empire in the 1000s ruled by the Kingdom of Denmark. It was later part of the Angevin Empire ruled by the Dukes of Normandy. One thing that schools don't effectively teach, is that much in the same way there was a difference between the UK and the British colonies, so too was there one between the Angevin Empire and their extra land abroad in Britain. Until the 1500s the English monarch used the title King of France. For a few centuries after the Norman Conquest, the rulers saw themselves as one of two rivals for the Kingdom of France. They just had England as an added bonus. It was after the loss of Calais and the solidification of their rivals hold over France that made the monarchy change their gaze from Paris to London, which is also around the time they changed the legal language from Norman French to Middle English, effectively embracing their consolation prize ruling over the foreign folks who's land they ruled over. In 1707 England lost it's independence along with Scotland.
