👋 Aussie here! I saw those battered potatoes on another US fair video on here about two years ago and THEY ARE REAL indeed! There's just a state by state naming war for them here, they're either called potato scallops (cause they're a thick scalloped slice similar to ones used for a creamy cheesy potato bake/potato au gratin) in New South Wales (where Sydney is), Queensland or Western Australia, they're called potato cakes in Victoria or potato fritters in South Australia or Northern Territory! 😁

If not that then I'm not sure if your friend frequents the beach or not cause they're a common item to buy from a takeaway or fish n chip shop and have been around for 70+ years! They're a fish n chip shop staple and many people prefer them than hot chips/fries with added on chicken salt (Aussie invention too, a morish seasoning) then you go sit at the beach burning your mouth eating them fresh and hot is a common childhood memory for many Aussies 😋😁

Exactly. Country fairs were all about contests of baking, animal husbandry, sewing talents, horse riding, quilting, etc etc….. still is like that in most smaller towns. My daughter was 4H with her horse and won a ton of ribbons.

Peter I am not a serial killer 😂😂 I like a lil crisp to my marshmallow lol. Now on to other things. You all are absolutely right, THE FAIR IS EXPENSIVE! I was hoping you would of showed THE ART OF MUSIC. It was a great experience to walk thru. You all need to go back and check that out. The other thing I was hoping you would try is a drink I found hidden by the shopping building. These cocktails were in a can but they were very good. The one we tried was called KOKOMO’s mystique, you will not be disappointed 😊😂. Oh yeah my take in that fried s’mores was a lil different than yours, it tasted like a pancake lol but I still liked it. And yes it was missing that burnt marshmallow lol.

Battered potato is an argument in Australia. It is a thick slice of potato dipped in batter and deep fried. Some states call it a potato scallop, some a potato fritter others a potato cake. We also do the same thing with Pineapple slices, with that is Tasmania puts salt on them, while in South Australia we used to put icing sugar on them.

(Also, we had most of the same rides, including the sky ride and that really nice Ferris Wheel (you get a nice view of both the Del Mar racetrack and the Pacific Ocean from up top)

Thanks for sharing enjoy going to the fair with you two, I loved this new videos you two are doing instead of Disney/ Universal I’m a huge Disney fan and I do like universal too. Watching something else is a good change.I enjoy the Kitra singing scene 🙂, and seeing you two trying outrageous food is always fun and exciting trying something new and different ( like or don’t like at least you try it you never know you might love it ). I live in Calgary and the fair is call Calgary Stampede we have that Ferris Wheel here too 2022 was the first year for it is a new ride and they have it this year and I went on it (it was fun and enjoyable I go on the old one every year during this fair )love the AC I was like Mom! there is AC in this ride we are both like yes! Lol😄 what kinda rides would have AC not that I know of this is the first ride with AC actually inside the ride thumbs up ( is 15 coupons per person). I wish I was brave like you two and try pricer foods I wanted to try these foods a mochi donut banh mai $20 i was like no if drink was included I might just the banh mai no I saw someone buy it it was small not a lot of meat,veggies, a popsicle call golden dragon with lychee and peach $13 popsicle $13 that’s expensive a couple more foods I wanted to try looking at the price I passed, but I did try these ( a foot long freak fries ) $16 it was really good decent amount of fries,bacons,onions,and ranch sauce ( loaded s’mores, cookies&cream,and spicy mango mochi donuts) it was really good the first two spicy one was too spicy for me my mom enjoyed 3 for $18, 1 for $7. I have a question for you two would you ever try soft serve ketchup and mustard ice cream? Is not mix is individual flavours I saw it I was like no even my mom said no I don’t know the price. I know fairs/theme park foods are expensive I just couldn’t bring myself to buy it I’m not that adventurous like you two

The Calgary Stampede which is a massive Rodeo and Fair gets some really bizzare foods in each year. One of the more memorable ones was scorpion pizza. Im not bold enough to try the bug stuff, but i did try the Prairie oyster ice cream a few years back (if you know you know) This year I tried Elk pepperoni pizza with frssh spinach. It was very tasty

We were in Dallas, Tx, for the Chosen Con. It was amazing! Little did we know the state fair was in progress, so we had to go! You all HAVE to go. They had so much food! We tried the original corny dog. NOPE, it's not good. We didn't try any more fried food, but they had fried butter, fried beer, and fried cheesecake, among other fried foods.

Oh wow, this video is making me so hungry! 😅 I miss fairs - our Hawaii county fair has been cancelled for the fourth year in a row, three because of covid & this year because shipping costs are 'too high & would cause an unnecessarily high burden on fairgoers'. Those little pigs can live up to 25-years of age, so it’s very reasonable to think those are the same ones year after year. Especially if you consider the training that goes into them to do the special race tricks and such. The trainers would keep them around for as long as possible. So dang cute.

I've lived in Australia for a while and those potatoes aren't a thing here that I have seen (or blooming onions), but they do have potato tornados! There are lots of foods on sticks at the Royal Easter show which is very similar to county fairs except they have wood chopping competitions and show bags.

Yes to coming to the big fairs in the South! the Perry Fair in Perry, GA is a great one to come to. I'm almost certain there will be deep fried gator!!!
