While it's not as easy as I wish it was...it's pretty darn necessary considering these wheels and tires weigh a ton. I tried it on the Raptor wheels after this video and I like it a lot. Definitely makes it considerably easier overall!

To solve this problem I bought wheel dollies like you would use if you wanted to roll the whole car around. Advantages include rolling in any direction, fully supporting the wheel/tire without effort from you, being flexible in terms of how high the car is jacked up when you use them, allowing you to turn the tire on the dolly while coating them, holding the tire straight at the exact height you need when putting the wheel back on, and letting you easily turn the tire to get the lugs to match up. The only thing to be aware of is that the dolly needs to be deep enough so that the whole tire can fit. I got 12" wide ones, the widest I could find. My offroad truck tires are no problem, the front wheels of my c6 are no problem, but the back tires of my C6 (325) just barely fit and I put towels over the rear castors to make sure they don't scratch. There is also a product out there called "Jack and Jill of all tires" which seems promising.

i do exactly the same i even found one that cant fit 13.5+ wide tires because the rollers are not recessed helps to not scratch up the caliper paint on my cars hydraulic is better as much more fine adjustment for the height i would link it but then my comment would be gone forever because youtube but you could dig up my email on my channel if you want its in the UHD drives videos

I'm gonna purchase the Harbor Freight version of that jack. I've been buying HF jacks since the 90's when everything was mail order. I have two 3 ton HF aluminum floor jacks, and four aluminum HF jack stands. Zero issues with any of them. The 3 ton HF "Badland" jack is on sale right now for $279.00. Hopefully it'll get my Raptor's front wheels off the ground with all that travel in the dampers..

I just use a 3 foot pry bar to lift my semi size 22.5" wheels and tires when mounting and dismounting on my Class A motorhome. Takes some practice but way cheaper and less moving parts for the tire to move around while trying to line it up.

Sorry Matt, I have enjoyed a lot of your content for a number of years, but it seems a few of your latest videos are trying to reinvent the wheel. There are much better tools out there to solve this problem. As others have said, a wheel Dolly for moving cars around would be perfect, they even have some that lift and have rollers. For less money, or for more if that makes them better. Money doesn’t solve all problems.

I’ve had this Tire Jack for over a year now that I use on 35s & 33s. Even the 33s wont spin on the roller. Although I do use it to help me with the 37s, its a struggle. The 33s I just use the feet/ankle trick to lift em up. IMO, it’s not worth it. They need to make the rollers adjustable and increase the length to get more leverage.

You need to get some off road racing hubs. I’m surprised the builder didn’t include those standard. They’re designed to solve this exact problem by projecting a 4.25” diameter billet hub / cone that allows you to place the wheel on it as a guide then rotate the tire into position with the bolts. Easy peasy. No specialty tools needed. Look up Blitzkreig Motorsports, Currie, kibbetech, any of the A list fabricators have them. Worth every penny.

Does he understand that Pro Eagle was the ones that designed that jack and Harbor Freight copied it with the Daytona? If he wanted a cheap one then he needed to go buy the Harbor Freight one. Both jacks work just fine. If you are lifting a vehicle with a lot of suspension travel you lift the axle. It’s faster and you don’t have to fully extend the jack. And the tool is not supposed to be used like that. You don’t roll a tire around your shop on it. You are supposed to get the tire right where you want to mount it and then use the tool to RAISE the tire off the ground. THEN you can ROLL the tire to match the lugs. You don’t roll the tire unless you are stepping on it and trying to line up the lugs. It’s common sense. You use your foot. NOT your hand.

I have been muscling RV wheels (Steel) and 40's on my Jeep for years and years. This tool is great in principle but needs to be larger. Needs to be wider and have larger rollers. THEN, I'd be interested. Meanwhile, I can muscle the huge and heavy with 2 large prybars, as cavemen have been doing for many years now. Maybe get some 2X4s to balance the truck on, serving as jackstands. Safety 3rd.

The rollers are way to short for that size of tyre. double length rollers and it would be a cool tool. as it is its just using a tea spoon to ladle out of a soup pan - way too small buddy. Smaller size wheels probably but they need to be made for different width tyres for that price

Matt I ordered mine right adter you stopped at the booth at Sema and showed it. You're right when you said you get better with it the more you use it. On my wide/big off road Toyo Tires on my truck it took me a minute to get into position to rotate because of the big tread and width. I just ceramic coated my inner barrels as well and I am much faster with the Trac Jack. Plus, its so nice having it not hitting the inside of the wheel trying to lift a heavy big tire/wheel to line up the lugs. That drives me crazy. With this you can take your time, line them up, and have zero damage on the inside next to where the lugs need to line up. Great product!

Those tires are MONSTERS. Without question, specialty gear is needed to take them off and on; moreover, once addressed one would hope it is something that does not need to be done to often. From this side looking in, the Swiss-track also adds a little bit of challenge in moving things around.

The tool would work fine for any tire if it was used properly. You don’t roll the tire when it’s on the ground. You step on it and it raises it. That is when you need to try to line up the lugs. At that point you roll the tire an inch to the left or the right to line up the lugs in the holes. That’s it. You don’t roll it before you lift it and you don’t use your hand to raise it.

Maybe another model with larger longer tire rotation rollers for jumbo sized and off road (mud) treaded tires which would allow for easier rotation to align rim to studs although larger rollers would necessitate car to lifted about 1" higher for a 2" larger diameter roller. However w/o this device it will continue to be almost impossible for one person to re-mount outsized tires/rims on spindle. That was a large tire that would be nearly impossible to install alone. Good find this is the main reason I watch your channel to see what's new and actually watch it being used usually for the first time, Thanks. Ray

Obviously would be more expensive to manufacture, but imagine a "X" Scissor type device with large rollers at the tip of the X that the wheels would sit on. You could then have a foot pump to help raise the wheel into place. I'm no engineer, but might be a more elegant solution, because for $200+, you're still working your butt off!

That Jack is not ready for prime time. The Evo and the GT3 will probably benefit from this but not off-road tires. They need bigger rollers and maybe a way to spin the wheel with one hand. If you’re pressing on it with your foot to lift it onto the back wheels and pushing it towards the hub with either one or both hands, you then need a crank like those old school car jacks that you spin to easily rotate the wheel to allow the lugs to line up. Those tires are just your standard lugs on 40’s. There are tires with even more aggressive and bigger lugs. This tells me they didn’t really research the market it’s intended for. It even failed on 37’s which is more common than 40’s.

I don't know which way is better, but when I have to install wheels and tires like this, I get the wheel and tire nearly in place just by rolling it, then I sit down on the ground with my legs spread under the car and use my thighs, knees and/or shins to work the tire up into the air a little bit and do the heavy lifting. My hands are then free to rotate and manipulate the unit into place. I'm already working on the car so I'm already in my work pants of course, so not worried about getting them messy. I wonder what you'd think of that technique instead of the tire jack...
