These are challenges that the typical mechanic deals with when facing an old car that needs to be resurrected. Particular are bolts that won't yield. That's when you realize penetrating fluid is your best friend. Top tip: when trying to loosen frozen bolts for the first time, never use a ratchet. Save the teeth! I personally prefer a flex or sliding handle. Much more solid and able to transfer more torque on those stubborn nuts and bolts.

Totally agree. All the dumbed down nonsense that ruined Wheeler Dealers was (and still is) beyond irritating, it’s utterly irrelevant, degrading to the real talent, and very insulting to all concerned, including the audience. That scripted banter where Mike would come back to the workshop and wonder why the job wasn't done yet just got a bit tiresome. He was actually better in the early seasons where it wasn't quite so formulaic, international viewers would also need to figure out the cockney rhyming slang. "3000 quid ? Are you having a turkish ?" They had to tone down some of the humour as well for the american audience. I remember in one episode he said "of course the electrics are unreliable in this vehicle, it was made in America".

@@MarkJohnson-ro1ed its quality content! most people in europe dont really like shows from usa because they made for dumb people, actionmusic, over dramatic stuff, cuts every 2 seconds and a lot of computer animation... totally boring stuff.... but this is just quality content 😎 and the product placement is totally ok

Truly we've moved back into the blessed timeline. Also no idea if the editors read through these but it might be worth leaving up comments/questions etc on the screen a bit longer to give people a chance to read them.

@@Carr9T2 I mean that's always an option but the ideal is you don't need to. Having a textbox take up some dead space to the side doesn't really negatively impact anything, vs constantly pausing every now and then.

Here's a pro tip: If you are not in a hurry, first spray all the bolts, nuts and interference fit components with penetrating oil and once you get to them in a few days(perhaps work on other parts of the car in the meanwhile), the oil will have soaked deep into all the cracks and makes work SO MUCH easier. Penetrating oil effectiveness is a function of time.

Couple of comments Edd. First, when connecting leads to a battery I was always taught red lead on first and off last. Also before trying to fire up an engine for the first time after lying idle for over 10 years I’m surprised that you didn’t take out the plugs, inject some diesel or light machine oil and hand crank to ensure it wasn’t seized or had sticking pistons crank or cams... Cheers

So good to see Edd back in the workshop fixing stuff! One of the interesting features of WD was when you needed some specialist work and you found a guy in a shed somewhere in the West Midland (usually) who was the go-to chap for fixing Maserati throttle-bodies or whatever for a fraction of the price. Would be fun to see some of that again!
