Trying to beat the wet!

Drilling the spring barley 2023!
We are drilling laureate at 250kg/ha. This ground had an over winter cover crop and has been mucked. We managed to get half of it in in early March, but it turned wet and we weren’t able to get back on until the 5th of April!

Nice video. That's quite a gap in planting because of the weather. We've had rain and snow today in northumberland. Hopefully may will be better. 👍

It is a very big gap, we would usually like to do it all at once but the weather did not allow! Having had all this rain, it has now gone drier and we could do with a bit more again! Hoping for some warm weather more than anything else

Compared to the dark soil around Ely and the fens the soil you farm looks completely different.

Oh that it is! Where we are we are on all sorts, from heavy clay to sand! These fields are on the heavier side and in places are neat clay! Not very pretty at all. Sticks to everything and never really grows a good crop!
