Because barefoot if you step on one you stand a far greater chance to feel it in time to stop the pressure and therefore not injure the spider.

In addition that is kinda dumb because I would be a lot more worried about bacteria or parasitic worms in the soil getting into my feet than I was about a spider.

@42 jade Oh no I am fine with bacteria...I walk barefoot most of the time in summer. But not in areas where there may be ringworm or some other nasty little things that I would rather not have to cure later.

The only explanation I can think of is whatever shoes he was using were sinking into the soft ground so he took them off. Not the best idea though inside of a cave where you have a lot of bat poo, parasites, bacteria and fungi spores.

Had to pack up a few of my tarantulas today, it was very similar to this lol. They really can bolt which is why keepers take so many precautions.

Not sure what species this is shame we aren't told! But yeah some Tarantulas are very quick. These though are possibly some of the fastest have seen. Great vid! Speed I'd say either an African or Asian species. P.s You don't want to get bit by either. Prob Asian more so. Having one climb up your back is a tad scary.

Arachnophilia I prefer the nice terrestrial ones that suck at climbing and use hair flicking as their primary means of defense. There are some very beautiful arboreal ones, but I was happy just getting the ones that stay on the ground when I kept them as pets. It is fun to watch other people do unboxing videos of those though. 😆 The only type of unboxing videos that are fun to watch. Unboxing is actually entertaining when what someone is unboxing might bite them or try to make a run for it.

Dude, him handling the spider is good for educating the public that they are not the super aggressive monsters people make them out to be and will probably result in less people giving spiders the chankla whenever they see one, resulting in better overall welfare of spiders worldwide. Yes he stressed that spider out but it was fine at the end so who really cares?
