Simic growth chamber reminds me of all the hydroplants, counters and cool experiments I was trying to make using a Simic pre-constructed deck when first Ravnica came out. I think I lost every single game, but it was way too much fun to evoke beast I never ever dreamt of as a child. Simic were really boosting my imagination back then. In the following Ravnicas I switched to Golgari because of the love for graveyard interaction. Thank you for the video (and hopefully the cards!). My name on Mkm is pietrodipietra (Pietro Forghieri).

I have a great memorie with all these cards. I was watching a video called: "Trying to Do a Pack Opening battle but Getting Nostalgic". And I loved every minute of it! Every card made a big impact on me as I was watching Jamin, and Thoralf open these packs! This will forever be a fond memorie! Thank you for the gift that is this video!

Emrakul always reminds me of when me and my friends first started playing magic. We started magic in middle school, and even though we played modern, our decks looked more like standard because we would just open packs and slam together cards we liked. At some point we found out that a teacher played as well, so we got him to play with us during lunch break. At first out teachers deck seemed strange, only creating 1/1 tokens. Then he played an artifact: proteus staff. He smiled, sacrificed a token to the staff and claimed “I have no creatures in this deck, except…” he revealed Emrakul. All of my friends had the same reaction as Thoralf in the video. The legendary Emrakul, which we always made jokes about pulling from a booster, suddenly was on the battlefield. Of course he won eventually, but seeing such a powerful card in real life fascinated me and all of my friends back then. Now I have my own proteus staff deck, although not with Emrakul. It would be fun playing against my teacher again.

The moment I learned how to read, my dad introduced me to magic. He had been anxiously waiting for my brother and I to be able to play his favorite game with him. My first deck was a mono- green big creature deck. I played the deck with no sleeves at all and therefore even 10+ years later when I’m looking through my collection I can tell exactly which cards I had in that deck. The point of the deck was to play as many forests as I could or get lucky and draw channel to cast Krosan Cloudscraper. For my birthday my dad gifted me an emrakul he got in a draft at work and ever since it’s been my favorite card. I used to sneak it Into my hand when he wasn’t looking. Ahhh such good memories

About two month ago, my friends just started playing magic with TTS. Since he new in the game, like every night I'm always bring new deck to the table so he can learn many type of magic deck. One day I bring a deck with only one creature in my deck which is Emrakul, and cheated it out by using transmogrify on my goblin token. He was cursing for a full minutes.

I have always played budget decks in modern/pioneer tournaments (because im broke lol). At the time (before the lurrus banning) I played dimir mill. For budget reasons I played cards such as fabled passage instead of polluted delta. In the deck I had a smal subtheme of rouge tribal to support my replacement for mishras bauble, merfolk windrobber. These cards where a playset of thieves guild enforcers and two soaring skythieves. I ended up winning round one so for round two my opponent sided in a bunch of stuff, most notebly A FULL PLAYSET OF EMRAKUL. During sideboarding I saw his smug grin indicating how I was about to loose. But little did he know that my sideboard was filled with utility rouges and a few lordes. Eagerly I sideboarded out all my non rouge mill exept for ruin and hedron crabs. Game two he sat there with three Emrakul in hand while a bunch of standard rouges beat his life total lower and lower. In the end I didint win the tournament but knowing how in game one he only saw one windrobber from my deck and no other indication of rouge tribal made my day. It really goes to show how strong that standard deck was….

That scream for Emrakull got me x) My only "good" story is actually a bad one for me. I've bought 8 boosters of Hours of Devastation for a draft. My friends forgot and we agreed to play commander with a booster as a Price (the winner just need to repay me). I've lost in less than 20 min. The winner open the pack and got a Special Locust God. Every other pack was crap. Still, I'm happy for him but I couldn't remove the card from my mind x)

I have a great memory of the first time I discovered Emrakul... I was watching two people playing and when the Tron player casted an Emrakul. I was really shocked about the power of this creature. But somehow the opponent survived the extra turn and managed to draw and land an oblivion ring over it. Everyone went nuts!

I remember soon after starting magic (around late zendikar rising) and opening packs from the newest set which at the time was Strixhaven. Got an Inquisition of kozilek from my mystical archive slot. It also inspired me to build a discard themed commander deck which was my first properly working deck. Been running it in many commander decks ever since. Great video!

I love this channel and its content creators! You all are very entertaining. My best story is one familiar to many, I imagine. I was in limbo with MtG due to having moved away from my friends, and then the scourge that is COVID-19 hit. The biggest silver lining of that time, for me, was that we all started getting together on Spelltable to play, and are still doing so even now. I've played many a game of Commander and Pauper, and even did a sealed league during the lockdowns. The growth of online paper play has been wonderful.

Wow, this was fun! I love Thoralf's and Jamin's dynamic. Jamin's pack brings back so many good memories of my first true love in Modern: Mono Blue Tron. I started out with that after seeing The Prof's video on it back then and realizing that I have most of these cards. Since then, I tried out so many different versions, and at one point I had two Gifts Ungiven mainboard and one Emrakul, The Aeons Torn sideboard. It was so fun, but so difficult to pilot correctly. But when I did it felt great to go for two tron pieces, Academy Ruins, Crucible of Worlds to finish Tron or for 4 different counter and removal spells to load up on action or find 4 finishers. And hardcasting Emrakul against a control player makes you feel like being on top of the world. :D Thanks for the memories

Always nice to see Emrakul, she (and the Eldrazis as a concept) was the card that got me into Magic. Got some fond memories of trying to cobble together my first deck, I really wanted a full colourless Eldrazi deck, but quickly realized I was in over my head ^^. In the end I grabbed an EldraziTron decklist from somewhere and just changed some things around to see what would happen (and also to make it a bit cheaper)

Really nice content as always! Besides the classics as EMrakul or Gifts,I have really good memories from the Ixalan Block because it brought me back to Magic after a break from few years. It was so magical to have a plane based on mesoamerican cultures and the flavour of the set felt so incredibly familiar and original, that I just jumped back into the game! At the first draft with that set I got four Seekers' Squire for a really good explore deck, which felt a pretty good welcome back!

The first deck I build was a black green modern deck which was made of a bunch of random cards. I decided to add Lotleth troll but I did not know how regenerate work. In the first three matches I’ve played, according with my opponents (beginners too), we used different rules for regenerate. That was fun because every time it was a surprise.

I used to run a brew in modern about 6 years ago using descendant's path to cheat emrakul into play, but with the cast trigger. It used topdeck manipulation to make sure there were eldrazi on top of your library, but specifically congregation at dawn, so that you could set up a win with emrakul -> take extra turn -> emrakul -> take extra turn. It used creatures such as nest invader and mutavault to activate the descendent's path. I think i lost nearly every match i ever played with it, but every individual game i won was like the best thing ever. Man, what a horrible deck, but fun times!

When I first read Aether Vial, I remember hating it for a while. As a lover of fair magic, it made all of my fair creature decks cheat on mana. Of course, it didn't take long to realize that Aether Vial makes fair creature decks actually able to contest with the unfair strategies. Today it is one of my favourite cards!

Exciting opening - nice to see that attention is also paid to the commens. My story: When my work colleague showed me Mtg for the first time, I was thrilled and started with Modern. My first deck was an Eldrazi deck (which I still play today, just adapted a bit) I was able to play Emrakul at my first tournament and thus finished the game. A great card - I hope there will be more on Eldrazi soon. Cheers

Okay, here is one. My kitchen table group decided to start playing commander about maybe a month ago. Most of us bought a precon and worked from there, some built their own. I got myself Mind Flayers precon from Baldur's gate. I had several horrors on the board along with Grell Philosopher and Psychosis crawler. I had Pull from Tomorrow in hand with one of my friends having mana vault on board, trying to setup his combo. I copied the Mana Vault ability and then I resolved pull from Tomorrow for massive damage with psychosis crawler, ending the game. Very fun way to end the game. Now we are jamming games of commander and making our own brews. My decks for regular formats are gathering dust now :)

7:18 Bounty of the Luxa gave me one of my favorite Draft memories. Played a multicolored cube with a friend, where each card in the cube had 2 or more colors, be it Hybrid or regular colors. I've picked a few cards along the way and decided to make a 5 color deck, my friend was playing 3 color deck, I've somehow won 2 first games, and in the 3rd game, on turn 6, I've cast Zacama thanks to Bounty of the Luxa. Friend Conceded. But we've continued the turn, just to see what would happen when I cast Etherium-Horn Sorcerer, I've Cascaded into Boros Reckoner.

I was doing a booster draft tournament back around 2000. The store actually had some Ice Age boosters (about 4 years old at this point) and I just had to use those. My friend was sitting to my left so I'd be passing to him. I opened up a pack and saw some pretty darn good creature (I don't remember the name, but it was a prodigal sorcerer that pinged for 2) for this format and also a Zuran Orb (artifact, sac a land to gain 2 life). My friend loves Zuran Orb. I look over at him and say, "I guarantee that this card is so good you'll take it without looking at the rest of the cards" and I had the Zuran Orb away from the rest of the pack. He laughed and gave the usual, "No way, it's important to know the others, no card is that good, blah blah". He picked up the Zuran Orb, went "Pffftttt" and just passed the rest of the pack without looking at it. haha. I ended up playing him later in that tournament and that Zuran Orb was annoying AF and he was able to delay delay delay because of it. I still won, though. :p

At the end of 2019 we got new neighbors. And one of them told me about this cool card game called Magic the Gathering. I laughed out loud because I knew Magic and played and loved it in school. However, that was 24 years ago. Back then I almost always played the color combination red and green. Meanwhile I found out that this is now called Gruul. I started to deal with the new and older cards and also got to know the different formats. I found Pioneer the most suitable for me. My first deck after 25 years was a Gruul Aggro deck in which Burning-Tree Emissary played a major role. The curve of Peltcollector in turn 1 into Burning Tree Emmissary and Voltaic Brawler or Stomp from Bonecrusher Giant in turn 2 always gave a very explosive start. As a result, I've developed a special connection to the Burning Tree Emissary and I still enjoy playing the card in all sorts of red and red/green decks.

When me and my friends started playing, one of my fellow newcomer friends settled himself into a mono black discard deck, very similar to a deck the veteran player who introduced us to mtg already had. I will never forget the agony of getting double inquisitioned/duressed before my first turn every game. Those guys are the reason i now value player hexproof in the sideboard.

Terminate was a card that got me into MTG story. I saw it first not long time after i started playing (around 2 years ago), and even though i didn't know many cards i imidiately connected terminate with Sun Titan. The way both arts and flavour text work together really got me into MTG story, even though these cards weren't really connected to other stories (as far as i know). My story revolves around Monastery Swiftspear. After I bought some starter stuff my very first card i ever bought was Monastery Swiftspear. I loved it ( and still do). I was a beginner so my first Deck was a Mono Red aggro deck. I thought it was cool to throw spells at my opponents face. I started MTG with some friends ( we came from Yugioh). After a couple of matches none of my friends wanted to play against me cause my deck demolished everyone haha. There was much anger in the air ( very fitting for a red deck). One of them never played magic ever again. I never mained a red aggro deck ever since. For the last few weeks I´m getting more and more into pauper. And as soon as i saw Swiftspear as a common i was really hyped to play her again! So yeah Monastery Swiftspear is very dear to my heart. Definetely the best pull from your packs (but Cthulhu is pretty neat too :D ) Fun fact: Right now i teach some Kids MTG. All the girls like the original swiftspear better and the boys prefer the alternate Artwork.

I got to draft double masters 2022 on release week, picking up some bounce lands. In one of the rounds I was facing a friend and I played out a bounce land on my turn two. As I did that I checked with him that he didn't have white mana available. He asked why and I explained that if he played flickerwisp on the following turn it would remove my only land from the battlefield (by flickering the bounce land, forcing it to return itself to hand). His reaction to that interaction was priceless. Yesterday, he played in another draft of double masters 2022 and he told me today that he was VERY close to pulling off that disgusting play. So close to glory.

My favorite memory involving these cards involved two of these cards. We were playing at a modern FNM and I was on Merfolk and my opponent was on Jeskai Nahiri. Due to them only drawing creature removal and nothing that could hit face, I was still at 20 when they ultimate their Nahiri and go find Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. They move to combat and I only have 6 permanents in play, including an Aether Vial with 2 counters on it. In response to the Annihilator trigger, I activate my Aether Vial and put in a Phantasmal Image and have it enter as a copy of Emrakul. I sacrifice all of my other permanents leaving just a phantasm spaghetti monster. No blocks. Go to 5. End of turn he bounces his Emrakul back to his hand and the next turn I swing in, wipe all of his permanents and sing for lethal. Only thing left on the battlefield was a phantom squid monster.

I remember it was in my first deck ever (which was a throne of eldraine challenger deck) and me and my brothers played a million games with the same decks, and I loved the versatility of killing small creatures and messing up combat for only 1 MANA! Taking their instant speed removal spell out of their hand in the first turn and then start dashing Ragavan and getting incremental advantage that eventually made me win felt really great.

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to comment here or on the website, so: Bounty of the Luxa reminds me my first prerelease I attended - Amonkhet, which incidentally also marked my return to Magic since Mirrodin. I loved the Egyptian flavour, and didn't really find it as weak a set as others did. (probably because I missed a lot of more powerful sets between 2002-2016). It was a post-release prerelease at a friend's house, and we were about 20+ friends. Good times. I loved the warrior and the zombie themes, and Bounty of the Luxa was a decent card-advantage engine in sealed. "I hope I win!" -Mr Bean, Rat Race

Ah yes, Inquisition of Kozilek. Fond memories! It was the first (nonland) card ever played against me in a tournament setting. I had recently got into mtg (Hour of Devastation era), spending my 120 euros I got for my birthday on a deckbuilders toolkit, a Bolas planeswalker deck, a Nissa planeswalker deck, and blew the rest on booster packs (little did I know about buying singles). Then, I went home, turned my Bolas planeswalker deck into 4-colour soup because I had pulled a Gideon of the Trials, which couldn't lose me the game (AHHHW YEEAHHHHH), and thought my deck was the bomb. Then I went to a Friday night magic tournament where they were playing.... Modern... The dude at the counter said that their decks were powerful, but I could still sign up. I payed the 5 euro entry fee, and got assigned my first opponent. He was playing BW Eldrazi and Taxes. Turn one, he drops a marsh flats, cracks it for 1 life, then finds a Godless shrine, paying 2 life to have it enter untapped. Meanwhile I'm thinking "wow, this dude is killing himself. I haven't even done anything and he's already at 17!" He then proceeds to cast Inquisition of Kozilek. I reveal my hand, and he takes some random card I can't recall because my deck was utter crap. I didn't think that was fair, since he got to take one of my cards. He then proceeded to take another card with tidehollow sculler, and another on turn 4 with a thoughtknot seer. He trashed me. I don't think I even got to cast anything that whole game. Ever since then, Inquisition of Kozilek has been branded in my mind as a powerful card.

When I was still a university student, I was quite new to modern but very keen to learn and play it. I built myself a Rakdos 8rack deck with Blightnings, Pyroclasms and, most importantly, Terminates from Player Reward (one of which is on the video). I have always had a weak spot to bling cards, even back then, hence I deeply cherished those Terminates. When I was travelling back from my home town to where I studied, I spilled an orange juice on my backpack with that deck in a train. Thankfully I had it double sleeved and the juice didn't even get to the cards. I was still quite a poor student back then so you can imagine my relief. 😄 Always double sleeve!

My story for Emrakul is more over Eldrazi in general. When i got into magic I only really played kitchen table with a monored goblin deck I made using some random stuff from starter decks and random stuff from garage sales. So it was things like Goblin Arsonist, Mudbutton torchrunner, goblin grenades, and stuff like that. Didn't know about any card stores or anything in my area at the time, and got the starter decks at a convention. Had a friend who I managed to beat a lot just because my stuff while not great was fast enough to outspeed most of his stuff. He then made an Eldrazi tron deck to beat me, and threw in a circle of protection so I couldn't touch him with my creatures or spells. So my first experience against Eldrazi was someone who decided that was the best answer to goblin rush.

While I'm still a fairly new player without a story to tell for alot of cards in double masters, I still deeply enjoy the set as I'm being given the opportunity to join others in glancing back at other times, other metas and exciting stories. It's always fun to sit down, grab a game and see what experiences my opponent happen to have with the cards we're playing, at the same time as I'm creating my own.

My story is about back when me and my mates was getting into magic, back then we were playing 60 card decks multiplayer and they were all scavenged together of whatever cards we had laying arround. I played a mono white souls attendant deck. But one day mate tells us he bought a deck online asking if he could play it instead of our normal jank. That deck was a variant of the modern Ursatron deck at that time and boi we were blown away by the power of the deck. It quickly turned into a 3v1 situation and we were barely keeping it together, that is until Emrakul hit the table. We got our asses handed to us so quickly it was stupid. I think back on that game very fondly and consider it a turning point in how we as a group approach MTG even today when we are hitting up commander games over spell table. You might even say that Emrakul pushed all of us to become better players just so we could banish her back to the void. I really think its sad that such an iconic and fun card is banned in commander. Please Wizard consider revising your commander banlist.

Our kitchen table group once decided to homebrew an EDH game with 4 decks led by 3 commanders per deck. One of my friends assembled a deck with all 3 Eldrazi Titan and that Emrakul was just freshly cracked from an Eldritch Moon pack. He obviously won.

At the beginning of my magic-"career" I played a thopter-deck. A friend of mine only updatet his deck to be better against mine, since we 2 were the only ones in our neighborhood, that played mtg. One day, he went to a game store to buy some cards for his mono-green giants deck that are good against small flying creatures. He asked for advice and the employees told him to buy a playset of Sporeweb Weaver. He did this and when he changed his deck to a white one with a few flyers, I updatet my green deck with a playset of Deadly Recluse. :)

Good and recent one to tell! Day one of GP Bologna, double masters sealed. 200 people sign up, then another 160.we'd end up learning that we were using all three days' worth of boosters, but that's besides the point. Anyways, while I'm getting absolutely wrecked by a player far better than me despite my bounceland packed pool, I hear excitement from the table right next to ours. The player sitting right beside me had just cheated into play AN EMRAKUL with and EoT Aethermage's touch. It was magical. We all pulled out our phones to take a picture like tourists in front of the Sistine Chapel. And what's funnier is, just two hours earlier I was chatting with my friend about the weirdest stuff we'd be able to pull at the event, and we both agreed that flashing an Emrakul thanks to that 4 mana UW instant would've been among the craziest.

I just started in Magic a wekk ago, bought a Precon deck for commander thanks to a friend's suggestion. During the last days we have been checking cards and he has been explaining me the ones that are fun. He showed me the card Deep Analysis and as I'm still very new and take long to play my turns, we end up doing the Deep Analysis Pose in order to pressure the others and then we laugh.

I mostly play limited and only have one 'real' modern deck: merfolk. One of the most essential cards in it is Aether Vial. I've always had a soft spot for tribal decks and the vial is a key piece in making a lot of them work, so it is great to see it getting another reprint!

My story goes with burning-tree emissary. After I "stopped" playing at the age of around 10 I got back into magic around dominaria because of a good friend of mine but In 2019 I was quite bummed out because my friends and I couldn't play due to me leaving my hometown. Then I found a website where we could play together and I enjoyed playing the unbound wealth deck so much against my friend that it fully re sparked my joy for magic. It is a complete powerhouse by enabling you to get a lot of devotion quickly and later on if you have a board state it simply pays for the shrine of nykthos activation cost. Other than that a fairly recent story I have is with monastery, quite similar, during my studies I met new people to play with but I left that city now too and again am unable to play more often than once every month but after monastery swiftspear got downshifted to common fairly recently a friend of mine that I met during my studies started playing pauper with me and we now play almost every friday which is a blessing and a lot of fun. It is funny how magic got less relevant within one group of friends and we just do different things now together and on the other hand with the other group of friends it formed the bridge to actually get to know each other better. Im glad I got back into magic even though there are less expensive hobbies. So in the end, my nostalgia at least for these two cards is all about actually rekindling my joy for magic, having a good time with friends actually playing the game and it led to me stopping to question if I should sell my cards on cardmarket and instead buy some :p

I always had thought that magic is just a really silly nerdy card game and I will probably never play it. 8 years ago my roommate got me to buy Khans of Tarkir duel deck pack to try it out against him and I was playing the mono red aggro. I beat the mono blue morph control deck so many times in a row I got excited about the game. I started upgrading the red deck to a goblin deck (within a tiny budget ofc) and was super happy how it started turning out, as I was beating my roommates other decks with it as well. I spent all of my spare time looking into magic and weird card combos and rules. I was getting really good at the game, I thought... I met another magic player in a pub and asked him to join us next weekend to play some magic, he happily agreed. What I did not know, was how Legacy combo decks worked. We started playing and immediately I got my butt handed over by turn 1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn deck. I'll never forget that as that was the day I learned that I need to know way more of the game because it is so silly. Nowadays I've teached many people how to play magic and I am referenced as "MTG encyclopedia" within my friend groups. That is how I got into playing silly nerdy card game called Magic the Gathering. I would never take a step back.

When I started playing magic (Coreset 2019 was the newest set) I soon got my hand on an Emrakul (I traded an Omniscience to a friend to get her). Later on the same day we drafted Unstable. I opened "Spike, Tournament Grinder" (activated ability for 4 black phyrexian Mana: "Reveal a card you own from outside the game that has been banned or restricted in a Constructed format and put it into your hand."). Since Emrakul is banned in Commander I did the only correct thing and build a ramp Deck around that. I hardcasted her three times on that day. The other games I mostly lost, but it was worth it. I remember a game against the same friend, that tradet her to me, where he had a rules lawyer on the board (State based actions don't apply to you or other permanents you control). I had to attack fiveTimes until he finally had to sac that thing to the annihilator Trigger (token Decks, am I right?). He was at around -40 Life and had no permanents in play when he died. I believe I set a record for most Emrakul attacks in one game from the same player at that day. It was a good day! 15/15 can recommand

When I came to my first FNM ever in 2016, I got my first deck : a GW starter given for free by the shop. It was my first FNM ever. First opponent was a guy with a weird tron deck, with sol rings and lots of eldrazis. He got T3 Ugin, T5 ultimate and found... Emrakul the aeons torn, Ulamog the ceaseless Hunger, Karn and another Ugin among 7 cards. Years later I still play GW decks and use Ghost Quarters in it :)

Speaking of Emrakul (nice pull by the way!) I used to play a Mardu Nahiri midrange deck circa 2017. I had followed the "calculated" deck building decision of playing Bob in a deck with one copy of Emrakul. At a local event, I was against Affinity Game 3 and had a commanding board state. I had a Nahiri, a few lingering souls tokens and Stony Silence all on board, effectively nullifying my opponent. I also had a Bob which I played on turn 2 and had gotten immensely lucky, only revealing lands up until this point (it was turn 5). I had 19 life to play with, what was the worst thing that could happen? On turn 6 upkeep I flipped over Emrakul, taking 15 damage. My opponent who was dead to rights, had the biggest grin on his face as he revealed a Galvanic Blast from his hand, payed for with his untapped Glimmervoid. That night I replaced the Bobs with Wall of Omens and never looked back.

I recently got back playing magic in paper again and it has been so hreat to be accepted into a new community. I recently took place in a 2X2 draft and manage to make it all the way to the ginal even though i had no R/M big pulls. I did however draft 4 Gnarlback Rhino's and absolutely smash it to the final by just low droping creatures and dropping down at least 3 Rhinos in every game. Lost the final 2 games to 1 so missed out on the big prize but dang did those Rhino's carry me 👏 i also got a foil one and although just a common it was a flex to beat better decks with them! 🙏 send the me the cards it would me awful lot to get those card down to my local lgs and beat people down with the Eldrazi 💣 Awesome channel and great website. Keep up the great work! A staple of our European MTG community.
