The reason the temp is higher is because the fans you installed don't fully cool the heatpipes where they are exposed near the PCI connector. Try with 12cm fans. I did the same mistake and that solved it.

This mod is not a bad solution, HOWEVER. You used wrong fans for this. A9 PWM would be better - they have higher max rpm and differently shaped fan blades (more pressure-optimized and YES, the shape of blades matters). You´re also not mentioning, how you were controlling the fans. Just plugging them in motherboard and setting a curve in BIOS is not enough, since BIOSes mostly don´t allow fan curves to be configured to respond to GPU temperature. It´s necessary to use a software like Fan control, where you can make custom fan curve and assign it to various sensors. If you used the GPU fan connector, then you have to set a fan curve accordingly. However, that idle temperature is a concern, as idle temperature shouldn´t be this high, especially in your case under the table (assuming you are using the GPU there). This points either at bad airflow (adding more fans to the front, or make them spin faster depending on the load, Fan control allows making "mixed" fan curve, where you can put 2 or more fan curves together and have front fans react individually either to GPU or CPU load) or at a need to change thermal paste on your GPU.

I did actually say in the video I was plugging the fans into the motherboard and using a program (which was Fan Control) to control them based on GPU temp. But yeah, you're right about the fans. I'd never done anything like this, so went with fans that I'd seen others online get good results with in their build.

first look about how many cfm was the stock fans then put fans with more cfm about 10 to 20 more cfm then it will work

Did ur stock fans have the same 4 pin connector as the Noctuas or did you have to do any adapter things? I'm looking into doing this exact fan replacement for my own Dual GeForce RTX™ 3060 Ti OC Edition But I can't figure out if both the new fans and the old ones can plug into the same pins without any adapters or not

The stock fans have different connectors to the Noctuas. The Noctuas have the standard one that plugs into your motherboard whereas the stock fans have a different connector for plugging into the graphics card itself. You can get adapters though, that would let you plug the Noctuas into the graphics card.

It was a lot quieter. Completely silent below a certain temp because I had the fans just turning off.

I notice my fans rarely turn on, but I don’t do any gaming. I do audio work.. so I’m hoping I can find a way to just keep them from turning on at all

@@dougleydorite I think they come on if the temperatures go over 60°C. A custom fan curve in MSI Afterburner could make that threshold before they come on higher.

hello, after mod in gaming what rpm were the noctua fans? Maximum 1600 rpm or you dont know?

They were at full speed. So 1600rpm.
