@@charlesr7269 Nah it's like this, Britian was the older brother who Bully's his little brother, but as his little brother (The united states) grew up, he become more successful and actually didn't bully his big brother(The UK) like he did to him. And because of this, the United states separateed their relationships with the UK and changed their way of doing things. That's why both countries are similar but different at the same time.

In Spanish trousers, "trusas", means underwear, underpants, while we say "pants" for the outside piece of clothing, "pantalón"/"pants".

Rudolph Dassler, his brother, first created Geda with him (gebrüders-dassler, the dassler brothers) and then he made RuDa, for himself, when Adi made Adidas. RuDa wasn't selling, so he changed it to Puma

When I worked retail we sold some adidas clothes and corporate had the district manager do a knowledge test at the stores and made sure we were all pronouncing it correctly on top of giving us a short history on the company and how puma was related even tho we didn't carry puma in our store. She had to teach us about every brand we sold

My friend went to school in England he's from the u.s. while out with a group of friends they were stopped by the authorities. They asked for identification. My friend trying to be clever say with a horrible British accent "I left my wallet in my other pants at home." The officer couldn't stop laughing.

Fun fact: Adidas was a company originally created by two brothers, Adi and Rudi Dassler. However, Rudi went off to fight for Germany in WW1 and so Adi took control of the shop and made it into Adidas.

It doesn’t. I lived in England for a hot minute and as soon as they hear your accent most of them know what’s going on. Had to stay with an elderly couple for 10 days though and I accidentally said “crap” in front of them, which is a swear word, and that hits WAY different than the pants/trousers thing lmao

It’s just a less “severe” one (like ass, hell, etc.) so it’s allowed on TV. But I hear you. I went to a Bible school over there so it was a definite no-no.

As a brit this misunderstanding has only caught me out once when someone told me 'Im wearing these pants because I went swimming' whilst pointing to his shorts I didn't understand why he was insisisting on telling me what underwear he was wearing underneath. I didn't realise Americans don't use the word 'shorts' and call them pants also. But yeah I would know Americans call trousers pants.

lol when a UK deaf person meets an American deaf person... UK: your sign language is a bit weird innit American: its called ASL. as a person not from the deaf community, i legit have no clue if there are actually dialect differences in the sign systems. but the fact that its called ASL and not just ESL (english sign language) must mean something. idk, maybe cuz ESL means english second language, which is a class taught for people in japan, mexico, and other nations where english isnt the official language. yeah um i tend to overthink things a bit.. 😅

Though I suppose, given fact that its probably declined in population now by association, it shouldn't be surprising at all that its just a name at that point. Seeing as the Dasslers already had businesses and factories by the time Hitler was a thing (I still think its a crazy bit of history that the Puma and Adidas factories made Panzerschrek anti-tank rocket launchers for the nazis)

I'm British and don't know anyone who says trousers... Every single person I've ever met calls their "trousers" pants... I don't know anybody who uses the word pants for underwear 🤨, underwear is either "undies" or "boxers" if your a guy.... If your wearing what he had on then it's "trackys" or "joggers" and if your wearing what you would to a wedding or funeral then it's "pants"

You're right. Nike is Greek and it should be pronounced as Ni (nee) Ke (ke). Yes, 2 syllables. For Spanish speakers, Nike correct pronunciation is exactly the way you read it in Spanish: NiKe (Nike, or Niqué).

We call trousers ‘pants’ in Lancashire (and pants are called ‘underpants’ btw), it took me ages to get used to it when I moved to the South of England (it’s been 23 years now - I’m over it)
