a cat companion makes everything better. I think the concept of a society based on birds sounds quite interesting
@MechanicalFiend3 ай бұрын
Absolutely! It's the best to have a friend around while working! You know I didn't think super far into the whole concept, but there's definitely a whole story I was imagining in that world that would be super fun. And I just love birds as well haha! These pieces were a blast to work on~

Stooooop that is so very nice, thank you for saying that! To be honest, I actually like being able to point out faults in what I make because that means that there's something to continue working on in the future. I think it can come off as overly critical, but that doesn't mean that I don't like what I'm making too- I hope that comes across as well!

8:00 the pointy part of the Steller's Jay's head is known as its 'crest'. The North American Cardinal has the best crest, because it represents their emotional state LOL. IMO, the Baltimore Oriole and Bluebird have the best color palettes, and of course the Red-capped Manakin.
@MechanicalFiend3 ай бұрын
Ahh apologies for my lack of bird knowledge so this might sound silly lol but, I love the spiky crests- they're like little bird mohawks. If I was a bird, I would certainly want one hahaha! Those are all super beautiful though, the colors! Maybe I need to paint even more birds now!

As someone who has done artwork like drawing very sporadically, your artwork looks amazing to me. I think the thing about accepting your own art is being able to see what you have produced as good, rather than comparing it to the vision in your head which may have been different than how it turned out. I drew a picture based on a photo of my son when he was a baby. If you look at it next to the photo, it doesn't match, but if you just see it by itself, it's a very cute drawing of a baby! ❤

Friend, I can't believe you have doubts about your skill! It seems that everything youve worked on is great. I would legitimately purchase your sketches. I think they are very calming and beautiful and creative. You've inspired me to even this- it and I guarantee you I'm not a quarter as good. Not only are you a good artist but you are quite the motivator!

That was a very enjoyable and relaxing video. I really enjoyed watching and listening to your talent and your thoughts. Your talent is obvious and your thoughts are interesting and insightful. To be able to see and hear about your beautiful creations as they are being made just doubles the enjoyment of the final projects for me. Even if, no, especially because they are practice works, I get to see your raw talent. Most of the other videos that we see on KZbin are the polished versions of a person's efforts. I’d rather see the real work that comes before the polished version so I can better understand the process. Thanks for sharing this with us.

And now for the last excercise - Take your final painting and write a short story around it. Or don't, your choice but it would be an interesting excercise for sure. Not that it would make interesting youtube material, but still... I certainly got some ideas for a short story watching you do all these sketches. Great video!

A couple of tips for you, and hopefully, you won't mind... First, come to terms that there's beauty in imperfection... nothing in life is perfect and what makes us special is our imperfections. This goes for art too, because the sooner you come to terms with that concept, the sooner you start taking bigger risks and push yourself. It'd the pushing yourself that drives art the most. The second is get rid of black from your palette. It is not natural and you seem to be aware shadows don't contain it be the use of purples and darker colours of what already exists there... which is good. But removing black entirely and learning to substitute it for the colours that truly exist will up your game massively. The last is the water you did, whilst you were going for still lake, the one thing you didn't seem to think about was the sheen on the surface of the water. Thus is why drawing from life and not still pictures on q device is necessary, as photography flattens what we perceive and limits our depth of understanding. Hopefully they make sense. Regards, a fellow artist.
