It took me nearly an hour to stop laughing after I saw the mess Jeremiah left all over from attempting to get non-tubeless wheels set up for tubeless, especially considering my post yesterday recalling a previous attempt. One thing I do differently that you might try next time to make LESS of a mess is to inflate the tire to get the bead seated on the rim without sealant. Once the bead is secured , then you deflate and remove the valve core , add sealant with the syringe and reinflate. It works for me every time and makes way less, if any, of a mess. John Glad to see you enjoyed the tape measure I sent. I was funny as hell to see how quickly Jeremiah picked up on that I sent to to you instead of Wolftick Videos. I don't know who enjoyed it more though, you or Jeremiah. I hope I can pretty much speak for everyone that sends you guys stuff when I say that the real joy is in the giving to you! I don't know of any other KZbin channels have a fan base that feel as included in your success as those on this channel. Keep up the fun and awesome videos! PS. Anyone else notice how quickly the tape measure made it to the side of the bench where the Wolfman sits?????

Watched another vid where the author of that vid also said that if it was a new tire to use a tube and allow the tire and rim to get comfortable with each other first.... I wasted all kinds of stans tubeless goop and time trying to go tubeless and watched that video AFTER my failed attempts....after kicking over the remaining bit of goop (cuz I forgot to put the lid on it) I guess zi won't have to worry about my garage floor leaking too much air now....😅🤣😂 I may attempt the tubeless thing later....but for now... tubes is where it's at for now. Haha!

@@mrupholsteryman Trust me, I've made my fare share of mess with sealant. It tastes horrible in case you are wondering. The only two bikes of mine that I run tubeless are my Cannondale Habit , the Jekyll since both wheelset for those bikes are meant for tubeless setups. The Mavic Crossmax wheels on the Jekyll hold air so well that I have ridden almost 6 months without any sealant in them and have had zero leakdown. Those wheels are special case though, since they do not need rim tape because of the way the spokes are attached. Even though I have those two bikes setup for tubeless. I NEVER ride on any trails without a backup tube with me. I don't carry CO2 with me, so there is no way in on this earth you are going to properly seat a tubeless tire with a mini hand pump!

When doing this kind of wheels and tyres, use more tape than usual, you should get a pretty tight fit between the bead and rim, then seat the tyre without sealant. Fill with sealant after seating the bead,. This should be way less messy

Love the content guys! I’m closer in age to Tick, but relate to Wolfman in the fatherly response department! 😂 Wolfman, repeats this is a bad idea, don’t do it, do it right, etc. Then when Tick airs it up “so many bubbles!” Couldn’t help but laugh. Keep up the good work!

Ha ha crawler innovations that's so awesome I see all there stuff in my RC channel, I don't know if my polygon D5 had tubeless ready wheels but I went tubeless but I used the new flatout quick strike not as messy as what your using just a little clear liquid comes out in spots and the flatout stuff never dries out so your tire will wear out before you have to replace it...may want to try it out next time.

Gorilla tape, dump the sealant in before you finish mounting the tire, rotate valve to top, then use an blow gun instead of an air chuck and then throw the valve core back in. The mess you made is awesome!!! I love it.

When I do tubeless prep, I do one layer of electrical tape first. Then I use Stan’s rim tape on top of that. I also use a heat gun when I apply it. That really helps it seal up.

It aint easy being green. I get the ear questions all the time as well. Had an elderly woman grab my right ear *the really messed up one* while in line at a grocery store and she couldn't believe how hard my ear was, said it felt like my ear was turning to stone. I just told her a lifetime of grappling will do that to you unless you get them drained. VERY often, which as a kid I wanted nothing to do with needles. I just suffered lol

I tried using pool noodles as an inexpensive alternative to cush core....and it was WORK getting the tubes to fit on the inside of the pool noodle...and ended up initially seeming very bouncy...but then the pool noodle foam compressed and the extra protection may as well have been an extra inner tube on the outside of the one doing the air holding functions.... Nevertheless I still ended up swapping out the DIY cush core and instead just went old school tubed....AFTER getting a flat...😅🤣😂

I run full pressure on my tubeless Maxxis DHR II's, ~38psi, and its absolutely a better ride. Tubes change the shape of the tire (as intended by the maker) making them rounder with less contact patch. I find they roll about the same but traction and cornering is significantly improved. Also, thorns are always a problem around here.

I love tubeless. You need to try wider tires with tubeless. 2.6 inch on a wheel with 35mm internal is amazing. With narrow tires you don't as much benefit. I run 2.5 rear, and 2.6 front
@cancer8343
@cancer8343 Жыл бұрын
Tubeless has less rolling resistance at the same pressure! Less internal friction. And with a tough enough casing tyre squirm is not an issue unless you are a pro freerider.

Looking forward to the test ride. That is going to be sketchy! Looking at this, it reinforces the reason I don’t go tubeless. It’s too messy and about 90% of people riding MTB’s won’t benefit. For most of us, going tubeless is about as useful as Quasimodo visiting a beauty salon.
@RuezgaDaniel
@RuezgaDaniel Жыл бұрын
I recently bought a flat bar gravel bike with tubeless tires and the ride is noticably more supple than riding tires with tubes. I never used to care about tubeless tires, but now that I have them, I don't think I can go back. They add suspension to my rigid frame and running over thorns is less of a worry now. I'm not saying you should run out and convert your tires to tubeless, but I would say try them out if you have a buddy with a bike that has tubeless tires. Also, don't be desuaded if you are looking for a bike and find one that has tubeless tires. You might end up preferring them once you try them, if you haven't already. Have a good one!
@harcormor
@harcormor Жыл бұрын
It’s not that messy when you use ACTUALLY tubeless tires and rims…tubeless tires and rims are made to fit more snug and they are easier to get them to seal up without all that much sealant coming from the bead. The feel of being able to have 25 psi on trails with tubeless, as opposed to 35-40 with tubes, is so amazing and you have so much more traction in turns, and over rocks and roots.

Have you guys ever considered a wider rim? That fights tire roll. A 2.6 tire should have like a 30mm internal width rim.

Maybe it's me, but once I installed mine I feel the fork responds a lot smoother on initial compression. Plus it is cheap and SUPER easy since they will already have the fork opened up to install the 130 mm air shaft. Which btw is almost as super easy to install. Going from 130 to 150 mm on my bike made such a positive difference.
