About cards. After people you love pass away, those little messages in old cards mean so much. I'm a 75, almost 76 year old senior, and have too many relatives who have gone now. I recently became the oldest left in my family when our last Aunty passed away in her 80s from Covid. I was 10 when she married one of my uncles. I have no siblings but thankfully a lot of cousins, plus my own children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and sending and receiving cards is very meaningful to me. I have an old letter from my mother in which she mentioned some recipe ingredients for a traditional dish we liked. I keep it in my recipe card box. I can look at old cards from those who are gone and recognise the writing and the writer without seeing their name, and remember them. I know I can scan and save on the computer but computers can go Klunk and you lose it all. Happened to my younger son, he never could retrieve everything. A laptop died, not as much lost but still. Hard copies last longer and aren't just images. There is touch and scent, which is the most sensitive to memory. I guess I'm lucky to have space to save several boxes of old cards and letters and documents, and never had a fire and lost everything. Keepsakes can be your most valued possessions, even ephemera.

Every year, my husband I will go through his desk drawer and organize it. He lets me do it and I just ask him what he wants to keep. You should do the same for Austin's drawer. Make it organized so he can enjoy it. I also suggest you get drawer organizers. They will change the way you organize. Then, for the screws get one of those plastic organizers that have the compartments in them with the lid. Just like the one you have for picture hanging stuff. I have one of those and I store all my random nails and picture hanging stuff in my closet, with my tools that are kept in the house for hanging stuff. Also, I save all the iPhone boxes. I actually use them as drawer organizers for my husband's random musical stuff, like his cords, things that go to his instruments, etc. He has so much little stuff and the iphone boxes work great for organizing it all. Another tip is to store all your housewares stuff in the garage in a drawer. Have a drawer that is for random knobs, shelf brackets, etc. Anything that is home related put in that drawer in your garage. We do this in our garage and it works great for us. The old keys, we keep in a small bin since we don't know what they belong to either. For the cords, I actually wrap them around my arm, then I will use a tie to gather the cord. Then I store all my cords that way. I like the idea of having them in bags like yours. If you wrap your cords with a tie, then your cords in your bag will be more organized and neat. I am for sure going to do the same idea and will do the travel idea as well. That I idea, I do love. :)

Screw storage what I really like is a really cute apothecary type storage system. Because you always need screws so to throw them away seems pointless. It winds up being pretty freaking cute and I wish I was at my house so I could show you a picture.

I will eventually make a letter/card scrap book out of the letters my friend and I send each other (she moved away). The birthday cards or sentimental cards are going to go into my scrapbooks. The little baggies, are good for putting you Bobby pins, clips, or little elastics in, so thing don't get mixed up with each other in your drawers. You could even put your erasers in one, or some nice smelling herbs also to place around the house (or one in your car).

Here it comes all my advice for decluttering. I declutter regularily and if I haven't used something since the last declutter and have no concrete plan to do so it has to go. I also bought a roll of ribbon for my wedding some years ago I stored it with the gift wrapping supplies and used it up for wrapping big presents. It made my happy ever time I used it. I use old phone boxes etc. for organizing stuff like miscelanious screws. I stopped saving the physical instructions of anything. Every time I get a new furniture or texh gadget I download the instructions and when I need them they are on my computer. Things like bags, boxes and empty glasses I love to keep to store stuff. I have a big box to store those and I keep only as many as fit in that box. That's a great way to restrict yourself and to have a place to put and find those storage options. I love to keep old cards. Every couple of years I go through them, read them again and it makes me so happy. I also have a box for them to contain the mass. When the box is full I get to decluttering and reading.

Something I've heard before that's useful for deciding whether or not to keep items is "if it got ruined (ex: if you spilled red wine on a sweater), how hard would you try to save it?" if its not very hard, then get rid of it. Applies more to sentimental items/clothing than things that have a use but just not at the current moment but its something you could think about!
