The pickle and peppermint is normally done wit the round ones so that you can suck on the pickle and get the pickle and pickle taste at the same time. This is a downsouth thing been that since i was a kid

Yeah doing the pickle wrong. You stick the peppermint down the middle of the pickle. And you suck on the peppermint like it's a straw. The pickle juice is going to travel through the center of the peppermint and create a funnel. I've been doing this all my life. When I tell people about it look at me like I'm crazy. But this is a thing. And I also used to put down laters in the middle of my pickles and suck on it that way. Because the salt is going to dissolve the candy. Best thing in the world. Now all you need is a jar of pickled pig feet and pickled eggs right there just to get it all together.

born raised and still live in the MS Delta...we did peppermints inside lemons and oranges, kool aid inside pickles and actully licking kool aid mix with sugar and/or salt mixed in. Go figure Lol. We still do it right today.
