My hood I bought brand new fits super bunk lol it’s not just gaps but it’s like raised from the fenders. I’m sure I did something wrong but seems like they’re using the same mold from 6 years ago

Can you give me a link to the shop where you got the hood or to the hood itself please? 🙂

Is it me or does the inside of the hood look like normal plastic? Maybe i've seen it wrong because it was a little dark at that shot, or is there a thin layer under the carbon? Some people say this is a mix of glassfiber and carbon and the dry carbon version is fully carbon?
@17Nesti7 жыл бұрын
RickkertJonge there is a composite material kind of like metal, maybe some type of heat shield? But no it's not plastic.
@pablotorres73036 жыл бұрын
MrYaris it’s called frp.. double carbon hoods are much more expensive he won’t get anywhere near 750 if it was double sided carbon. That goes for most parts

Update on the hood if you need hood pins or any cracks on it ?

Hey! No cracks and no hood pins ever need it. Unless you’re going to track the car you won’t need them.

i recently installed a CF hood and i was curiouse about hood pin issues. is it a must to run with them or will i do fine with out them? iv been driving and fastest iv been so far is 65mph i have a little flap on my left because my head light has a slight droop and i also had to remove the left rubber bump stopie because of fitment issues. i have the pins sitting here but didn't wanna drill into my new hood.
@Ryan-ue9ve6 жыл бұрын
JDM Delsol what happens (from my knowledge) is that the composite type material used to fuse with the carbon fiber, sometimes fiberglass, needs to bind with the latch because you cant weld it on like a steel or aluminum hood, so they use a very stong glue. This process can lead to stress cracks in the material and eventually overtime it can snap off, which if it happens while driving will either fly off or smash into the windshield. Now ive seen plenty of cars with carbon fiber hoods not run hood pins and be just fine. I have yet to read, hear or see a hood fail in an 86. For safety and legal reasons its recommended to use. If it were me id check for cracks near the latch every now and then just in case but for the most part if the hood is new you should be fine.

looking to buy a brz ... the one i am looking at has a seibon fa-style carbon hood.. it has a pretty gnarly hood scoop and i’m debating if it looks a bit rice. seibon has awesome hood but do you think the hood scoop is a little much or no ??

do you need hoodpins for a cf hood? im looking to get one but dont want to drill holes for hoodpins on my own.
@17Nesti7 жыл бұрын
+Jasper Guan you need hoodpins for the ones that do not fit well aka the cheaper ones.. but you might lucky and find a cheaper one that doesn't need modification (people put the pins for extra safety) I did not lol

would water getting through the slats damage the engine at all?
@17Nesti7 жыл бұрын
+Chrispy Chrispo it gets it a bit dirtier but not too much water doesn't get in any important components, mainly hoses and covers.

Hey dude, I'm looking to get a vented hood for my FRS. Have you noticed any changes in performance, due to the new hood? I'm mostly wondering about engine temperature. Do you notice any difference about the heat in your engine bay. I dont know how to word it exactly, but I'm sure you get what I'm saying.
@17Nesti7 жыл бұрын
Rehab Junkie not really, it's around 105F where I live so I haven't noticed but I'm pretty sure more air goes to the engine so the heat is not trapped as much
@dsgrts6 жыл бұрын
If heat issues is really your worry(honestly most want it for the looks) you should go for a radiator upgrade and let the ECU do it's job controlling the temp.
@jesse5842 жыл бұрын
@@dsgrts true, i want the looks, but it would be nice to know if the vents would make a difference, otherwise id just go for oe style hood... if they help with heat, then it is worth the 6 holes in the hood... if they don't help with heat at all, then there is no reason for the vents...
