"...instead of something that's in your basement." You achieved it alright! This WP 8th sub layout is awesome- from the intricate buildings, lots of various interesting industries and foreground sets to the lifelike back drop artwork. Cedar Creek Canyon is a neat idea forcing viewpoints. I love where the layout goes into the back drops at roads and crossings, seamless. Good job Rob and team. Nice camera / production work as well.

Really nicely done. I appreciate the philosophy of the layout. I, too, have used the concept of a partial building along the fascia with the back simply flat along the fascia. I agree that not all the industries need to be fully modelled. Great layout, thanks for sharing it with us.

Love the hidden turn-back, it’s such a unique way to transition between scenes. The farm scene and creek are superb.

Great to see a new video featuring Rob's wp8thsub. This layout has been an inspiration for the layout I am currently working on with what little hobby time I have. I've already learned a few scenery bit's from Rob on the MRH forums that he used to frequent including how to make scrub brush from paint stripper pads and river bottom colors to simulate shallows or deeper areas. Thanks for presenting this video and it's nice to see the industry building feature here. There is a lot of food for thought - so many excellent elements to create scenes that look real. There are definitely some great idea's that I can take into consideration as I work on my own layout based on the D&RGW at Grande Junction CO and west into Utah!

Well done structures, scenery and backdrops - very convincing and realistic. I started following the WP in 1980, and by that time even the modern paint scheme locos were starting to look tired! The lack of upkeep on the rolling stock told its own story and visually foreshadowed the merger with UP. Anyhow, great layout and video, thanks for sharing.
