Diarmuid is honestly the only character in Fate I’ve seen hated for literally 0 reason and most of it comes from his “tantrum” when really, I can’t blame the dude for being salty. King Arthur wanted to have an honorable fight with him to the point she’d honor it by using her fully revealed Exaclibur. Who wouldn’t be salty about this???

Diarmuid on the otherhand did his best to be loyal to kayneth, he also thought that saber was tricking him the whole time, it's two completely different situations, diarmuid also has his moments where he shows his chad energy like when he was fighting rama, mash and nightingale with fionn, or when he helped scathach against Artemis, or when he helped artoria against gilles, lancelot and dark Iri. People just tend to not appreciate characters that have a good personality and rather prefer the badass cold blooded ones.

Cause I totally agree, what else is he supposed to do when his masters are dying, and he’s been blindsided and betrayed? Brush it off and say “It is what it is.”? If that’s the case Cu would’ve let Kirie do his dirt and toss Rin to the Grail? His curse on the one involved in tarnishing his fight honestly played out perfectly in the end. Kirutsugu not only lost Sasha to Kirie, lost Iri to the grail, made it to the grail after fighting Kirie to the death, only to reject it after learning about its true filth. Then dies slowly after watching all his ideals crash and burn.

@@Fragesed Exactly, watchers don't even take time to see the meaning behind why a certain character die the way he did, and only care about the "cool" factor. I mean just look at Gil, one of the most likeable characters ever, yet got some of the most disappointing deaths throughout the series. Still doesn't change the fact that he is an amazing character. Same thing with kiritsugu, kirei in ubw, shirou in hf, ilya in ubw, saber in zero. They are not meant to just accept death, because they had a goal, and dying wasn't something they could just accept.

man it's sad that in lore, diarmuid's strongest weapons were Móralltach and Gáe Dearg, a sword and spear respectively. But in his lancer spirit origin, he has Gáe Buidhe and Gáe Dearg while in his saber spirit origin he has Móralltach and Beagalltach. So regardless of which class he's summoned in, he's never truly at his strongest

funny thing is he's not suppose to. He never fought with 2 spears during his life. he's got 2 magic spears and 2 magic swords and he always carried one sword and one spear with him. This also technically means he probably shouldn't have that god like mastery over dual welding spears that saber mentions. Unless of course he did use 2 spears at some point and its just not mentioned anywhere.

A reminder that Fionn mac Cumhaill, Diarmuid's king and the leader of Fianna warriors is one of the inspirations for the creation of King Arthur, and that pretty much grants Diarmuid the same status of that of a Knight of Round Table's. Consider how strong each of the KotRT are, I won't be surprised that Diarmuid would more broken than KotRT when he has all of his weapons at disposal.

He only married her for real once Fionn had initially said it was okay. Second, the story with Grainne and Fionn was not the first time he was betrayed. There were a few more instances in his myths of him being screwed over by others.

I think Cu Chulainn is the cooler more badass Lancer in terms of who he is & how he acts, when it comes to him as a person himself. I think his character, persona, morales, & personality/attitude & personality traits overall etc etc.. are the cooler of the two. Cu is just a dope & cool ass dude in his personality in general overall, more so than Diarmuid I think.. though, I gotta say.. Diarmuid by far has the most slick, badass, cool & sickest character design out of the two lancers! He definitely has the the better physical look & design I think, no doubt. The Q&A’s comparison of FSN Cu Chulainn and FZ Diarmuid was that “Diarmuid received more backup from his Master (magical energy supply), thus in terms of pure firepower, Diarmuid was stronger.” The answer never responded to the question of who would win, just that Diarmuid has an edge in pure firepower due to his greater supply of magical energy. Based on a brief line from Fate/Strange Fake, it seems like magical energy is akin to weight. “It was a ceaseless rain of blows, perfectly in sink with the movements of her galloping horse. She was struggling to bridge the gap in the magical energy contained in their Spirit Origins with skill”. So even though both are roughly as strong and as fast, Diarmuid’s blows would be more powerful due to having more magical energy. I think Cu Chulainn should be winning more than 90% of the fights though, simply due to his beast-like movements and Gae Bolg causality reversal. But in a normal clash of spears, Diarmuid will overpower Cu Chulainn.

Having more mana would give diarmuid a massive advantage. You seem to not know so I'll tell you, in Fate/Zero's light novel, literally tokiomi considered diarmuid a threat to them BECAUSE HIS MASTER WAS KAYNETH, after he contracted with Sola Ui, tokiomi said that he was no longer a threat, so again, diarmuid connect to a Grail would beat cu easily because his battle performance and physical stats would rise drastically, and his firepower will increase which will affect his endurance and regeneration to levels that surpass even the likes of herc, just look at saber alter, having infinite mana caused her body to heal injuries basically instantly. Besides all diarmuid gotta do is keep gae dearg in contact with gae bolg and cu won't be able to activate since he won't get the chance to gather the mana necessary. Runes are also a form of magecraft, so cu would need spells at least above B rank to even harm diarmuid with his high magic resistance. Comparing kits doesn't matter, yagyuu almost got nothing in his kit, yet he would shit on 80% of the verse.

When a stat has a plus next to it, that means it has the potential to MULTIPLY under certain circumstances. And based off of showings Diarmuid is more skilled of a fighter. If we’re talking noble phantasms however, than gae bolg is superior to the cursed weapons majority of the time. Cu also edges out in survivability because of battle continuation and deflect arrows

Class advantage didn’t exist in Fate Zero, it was only added in FGO as a game mechanic. Otherwise Zero Rider couldn’t use his noble phantasm effectively against Zero Assassin. There are more examples around that, but this is the easiest to see.
