Remember rumours a few years ago… there so much one can take. No one talk about NHL referees… what happened to them for letting this incident happen? NHL= cheep shots players = referees. 😢

I believe that the referees officiating that game should be suspended! They turned a blind eye, favouring the Canucks, by not calling the infractions perpetrated against the Oilers. This SH_T has to stop!!

Lemieux was pulling guys waterskiing behind him and getting cross-checked in the back 3-5 times a shift. There was FAR more holding, hooking, slashing in the league back then.

Don’t you dare compare the two. Two completely different eras. Slashing was a part of the game. Mcdavid is a constant flopper and dirty player. Guess he learned it from gretskys era with the 4 on 4 rule. Karma finds a way.

Garland deserved what he got. McDavid deserved the suspension, although I did think it was only going to be 2 games

Garland didn't get a holding penalty according to the game's penalty summary. Garland received the same penalty as everybody else on the ice not named McDavid and Myers.

@@ML-my8qq Garland should have received 2 minutes for holding and 2 minutes for being on the ice like everybody else. Pretty clear that Garland was holding and should have gotten 4 minutes and not 2.

McDavid deserved the suspension this time… frustration setting in. Oilers played Wild last week and he threw a Minnie Messier elbow on Johansson for no apparently reason I saw but I only saw third period in which the elbow occurred. Johansson left the game and did not return.

McDavid should just rest himself and skip the 4 nations. The League lets other players get away with murder. You have to almost die to have them hand out a 1 game suspension but they want to FLEX on Mcdavid and give him 3 when their was not only no injury, the "Victim" was laughing and taunting the oilers players after the fact. Definitely deserved a game suspension.... but 3 games... come on. As mentioned McDavid should return the FLEX by opting out of promoting the NHL and its money makers for 3 months.

Wow I agree Have McDavid sit out of the 4 Nations and anything Bettman is promoting!!! Bettman is likely behind the referees terrible pattern of ignoring penalties if it’s against the games stars in Canada. I’m sick of the blatant miss calls this year.

Everybody needs to stop stroking McDavid. He got lucky not to face supplemental discipline for his headshot against Minnesota just before this game. IT DOES NOT MATTER what Garland did to McDavid when considering the suspension for McDavid. He has proven time and time again he is a horrible leader and cannot keep his cool when things don't go his way. His temper tantrums and stupid penalties continue to cost his team.

The refs should have a 10 game suspension for that no call on McDavid. All of this wouldn’t have happened if the called original penalty.

So what if the ref did call the penalty on Garland? That would've been a delayed penalty anyway, wouldn't have helped the Oilers because they were running out of time. Garland would've continued to hold McDavid the same way as that made no difference. The oilers probably didn't want to stop the puck at that point since they had momentum, and they didn't have enough time to lose a powerplay faceoff or reset.

Good call. Mcdavid was Humping Garlund. Like geez, this was all Mcdavid. You don’t have to go and cross check a dude in the head. Learn how to play the game and body check people.

Nobody excuses him from cross check to the head. BUT it was all Garland - McDavid was on top of him because Garland was actually holding his left arm which prevented him from getting up and back into play. Then Garland tackled McDavid.

You couldn’t be more wrong about that . Garland was holding onto McDavid’s arm underneath himself. Why would McDavid worry about giving Garland a shot? McDavid was trying to get up and contribute to the play .
