TTArtisan 17mm f/1.4 Fuji X-mount lens review

Hi Chris, especially for lenses with such a big disparity between center and corner IQ, it would've been great to take a look at sharpness at the third-lines - since a lot of people are going to compose by putting subjects on those.

Also please refocus to the spot you are measuring. e.g. if you focus the middle and the lense has a warped plane of focus you are comparing an out of focus corner to a focused middle. But in practice if I want a sharp corner I focus in respect to the position of the object in the corner.

@@DilanChecker what for? Do you want a corner focused image but an outer focus center photo? If the lens has a sharp center and misses the focus on the edges then it’s a bad lens.

@@dalexa No, it's just a lens with a non flat field of focus. There are many of those actually and they are not at all just all bad. It can be a decision to make a lens smaller, it can also be a way blur the background more than just the use of aperture would allow. Some can clean up very well if you actually focus the spot that you want sharp.

I recently got this Lens for fuji X mount. I am really surprised by how good it performs. Especially for b&w.

Oh, man those corners! I'd love to see how bad is the field curvature, maybe one could compensate by focusing on the corners when the subject is there ⭐

Good review man. I have two TT Artisan M-mount lenses which are beautiful in design with good performance. However, they can't seem to stick to a consistent design style. Too many of their optics look very different and out of place with each other.

I've had this lens for about a year. To confirm what Chris suggests, although it's not in any way a clinical lens, it is a wonderful image making tool. To get a fast, wide lens, in a very small package, at this price means you get a joyful shooting experience. Wide shots with blurred out backgrounds and decently sharp landscape corners stopped way down in a pinch. The ease of taking it around and the unusual look of wide angle images with a lot of background separation more than makes up for optical flaws that will seldom be meaningful in actual photography. And the price... Oh. Yes. Chris is right that the lens cap is less annoying than some screw-ins. Still it's easy enough to get a cheap clip on cap from China in this size. The hood I got though, caused vignetting, so you'll want to be careful with that.

Their 11mm fisheye is rather decent and fun to use. Try get your hands on that one.

Interesting for video. You could get sort of a “Cooke look” with the soft corners and low contrast wide open. The biggest issue for video would be the focus breathing. I’m thinking of buying one. Maybe an used one for less than 100 eur.

Huh.. this seems like a decent option. THere are VERY few manual focus lens options around this focal length. I'd probably only use this lens at f/2.0 and narrower.

Guys I'm going for the 23mm f1.4 Viltrox for the E- mount (A6100). It's the only affordable 35mm equiv on Sony APSC. The Sigma 30mm is a bit too tight while the 16 is too wide. Any reviews from any owner?

I have this lens for mft. It fit in the lower end of my vintage prime lens collection. But i like the canon fd more. It s a funny, cheap lense but not really good in my opinion.

I have one. It's a great little companion on my X-E3. IQ seems perfectly adequate and the build quality is decent too. I would much rather mount this on my Fuji's than an adapted SLR one. And given the price also over a LTM or M mount one! Though my Voigtlander RF lenses are quite exquisite, thinking with my head (and wallet) rather than my heart, the TTartisan 50mm f2 is a great option. I prefer it over the older but also very good 50mm f1.2 due to its compact nature and because I am not a close up bokeh freak.

Had it for few months and despite the fact is pretty useful it has some… “ugliness” in rendering.Colours are … maybe it’s enough to say that you’ll be tempted to do much more in black and white than usually. It’s small, light, sharp-ish, cheap and usually these are qualities that I love when combined in any configuration- this lens has them all and I still don’t like it.

Could you please review the neewer 35mm f1.7 "CCTV" Lens (Sony e mount) Which is the cheapest e mount lens available on amazon India (₹4500) & Not a single video about that lens is available on KZbin. So please review that lens. "It's not the regular 35mm f1.7 lens; it is a CCTV Lens with a c mount to e mount adaptor."
