You just answered all my questions after you showed the much sharper photos from the Sony!

Wow!! Those photos, the blurry background is fantastic! And of course, who's that dog?? So cute!!! It seems great especially that bokeh, it is a winner for sure.

Thank you! It's my in-laws dog! :)

I have been tempted by this lens for a while, I love fast manual lenses for my full frame 61mp Sigma FPL. I finally ordered one because I noticed that on their website the lens is only available in M mount, and they confirmed that they have discontinued the other mounts. I found an L mount version listed on a trusted website for what seemed like a discounted price, $449 us. Seemed like an opportunity that I did not want to lose. When possible I try not to adapt my lenses. I am very excited to play around with those extra creamy backgrounds, it should arrive tomorrow.

Nice review Aaron! The photos looks super nice and the bokeh looks amazing 👍🏻 Great to know some pros and cons you shared with us in this review too. It’s very helpful for anyone who considers to buy this lens.

That was a fair and balanced review and fair play for highlighting the issues. Not one for me but I'm sure it has a market among some.

@2:10 You say it's not great for video but the sample looks kinda good!
@RudyVisuals2 жыл бұрын
In terms of the image quality yes it can get nice results, but it's not easy to keep things in focus.
@sirelegance892 жыл бұрын
Is it hard to get shots in focus at such a shallow depth of field?
@RudyVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Generally yes, the shallower you go, the trickier it gets.

loving the amazing bokeh! yeah! but the weight puts me back a lot! :(

Yeah the weight is a killer!

The aperture and focal length seems perfect for portraiture. No AF just really puts me off as I'm not confident in my own shooting ability 🥺

It's definitely not for everyone!

Loved the review as always and really nice sample images. Is that a new dog, what happened to Mina? I think I agree it looks like a lens I would use for fun but not sure I would rely on manual focus on a shoot.
@RudyVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Thank you as always! We still have Mina she is retiring in Poland with the in-laws! The dog is Kiara, who my inlaws have adopted to keep Mina company :)

I saw Kaiman Wong's video about this lens as well. It looks like a fun lens just not one you'd want to keep. Like a muscle car.
@RudyVisuals2 жыл бұрын
I think that's a good analogy. The lens has quite a niche and specific use case so it's not really an 'every day' lens.

It's a new dog for you? Cool looking lens but in 2022 I don't want to mess around with manual focus..

The lens cap and screwing mechanism of the hood is a bit weird and the image quality really just doesn't look that impressive to me. For portraits the sony 85mm would be waay better.
@RudyVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Yeah we are not fans of the cap and hood design at all.

400 pounds for a manual focus lens seems pricey to me, I would definitely prefer to get an AF lens for that much even if it's not as fast
@RudyVisuals2 жыл бұрын
I think we would generally go for an AF lens as well in this case, but there are some niche use cases where an f1.25 could be needed.

The TTAtisan 90mm 1.25 is too heavy, the built quality not up to what I expect and the optical image quality too bad ! I have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM which is sharp from aperture 1.8, but it is also a big and heavy Lens, so because I rarely use autofocus, then I now most use the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5 which have outstanding optical image quality, it is built like a tank, but is is smaller and lighter than the Sony 135mm.

Great video Aaron! You took some lovely photos of Wera 🥰 The blur on this lens is amazing very smooth and buttery, if it had autofocus I would consider getting it for myself at that price it's a steal. I'm too impatient to deal with manual focus only lenses. It's 2022!!! We should not have to deal with that by now!
@RudyVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I do agree with you to an extent but there are some situations where manual focus does come in useful.
