27mm filter & built-in lens hood is economy in good design. My Canadian 90mm Summicron with built-in hood can flare like crazy but it has hi-res & almost covers 6x6. 32mm is not wierd, expecting close focus is. Relative image magnifications of front & back of an obj is determined by FL, this lens may not be appropriate for your intended copying of obj/still life. 32 is a good street lens, I 've used a 40mm for 40 yrs. The 40 is not known to most people until these last few yrs. Enjoy your 32; 48 on crop is not bad either.

The size of the filter is one thing, but in combination with a fixed lens hood that does make it cumbersome to swap filters, unless you intend to leave a UV filter on and never touch it again.
