TTGO T-Display: use the ESP32 flash tool to update the firmware
I want to do an update video on the TTGO T-Display to address some comments from the previous videos and try some new things out. Checking the TTGO T-Display GitHub page, I see there is a firmware update. Having never done this before, it seems like a good topic a video. So I downloaded the ESP32 Flash Tool, the new LilyGo_T_Display_20200414.bin file and got to work. The new firmware now shows something new after the initial startup routine. Stay tuned as we go further with the TTGO T-Display board.

Thanks for the video. I can I make the Flash Download Tool "reset and run" the ESP32 target after download?

Do you have any sense of what's actually changed with this, and is it possible to roll back to the previous firmware if I don't like it?

Additional information is displayed on the screen and the return from deep sleep function works correctly. There is not a means to roll back the update that I can readily find. I am trying to answer every question one might encounter working on this and the firmware update is the obvious change from the last time I worked with this board. It seemed like it would generate more questions if I skipped it, rather than showing how to incorporate the update into the board. Thanks.

I tried downloading the ESPRESSIF Tool from the link above but my anti virus removed it as a threat.

I just downloaded this now and scanned it with Windows Defender. No threat found.

@@ShotokuTech Interesting. I tried a couple of times with not luck. I am using Norton 360.

@@pandytbox I am not telling you to deactivate your AV. But that seems to be what you would need to do as a workaround. Not sure if there is a way to whitelist in Norton.
