How is it different from basic ttl? Here the open collector is connected to a 5V battery which is equal to be connected with the remaining vcc an a pull up resistor. Then what is the difference from basic ttl? I cannot understand! :(

there is cases where we can only use an open collector Gate. for example when connecting two outputs together. first connect them then add the pull resistor. the purpose of that is to avoid damage in case one output is high and the other is low (they act like you're connecting plus pole to minus pole). hope the example helps

How is base collector reverse biased at 5:31

From my understanding, the supply voltage Vcc supplies voltage to b1. Since no voltage is actually being supplied at the input, by default the B-E junction is forward biased(as it always is). Thus, current flows through it, and since the voltage is above Vbe(sat) B-C junction is reverse biased.

Recall that when in active region, one transistor junction is always forward biased and another reverse biased. I hope I made it clear
