I am not trying to start a business. But I bought a house with a bad tub and this video will be very helpful.

The worst part is definitely the waiting for materials to set up. KZbin isn't even helpful. 😂 Second would have to be split level apartments ALL the way in the back somewhere during the summer.

I’ve painted for years and always tell people just to refinish the tub, much easier than replacing. Great job and very professional.

Great video and info. One question: can you estimate the cost of the materials -the etch, paint, tape, air filtration, etc.- that you used for that two hour job? Thanks!

On average all the chemicals cost about $75 per tub. This does not include what I would pay for taxes and insurance divided into a daily operating cost. In the end, I pay myself 50% of all checks received. Of all the systems we tried, This has been the simplest. I get a check or checks and deposit it, then a day later I withdraw half and immediately deposit that amount into my personal. This system has allowed me to purchase whatever I need for the business at any time without having to wait for a payment plus my wife being able to pay any business bills without having to ask me for any extra $$.

I would think that the tile should have been masked to protect it. Also, the tub drain should be removed to allow new glazing to be applied under the drain cover.
@thetubguy2293
@thetubguy2293 Жыл бұрын
If you know how to control your air to product correctly there's no need to worry about covering all the tile. As for the tub drain being removed, That's a potential nightmare that you only suffer through once and then you never do that again.

You are absolutely right. Once those cross pieces break and the drain is just loose the snow ball just keeps rolling.

I'm not a licensed plumber to remove any major fixtures. End of story. Major repairs around the drain due to rust will require removal by a pro if that's what we decide upon. Hit me up when he's finished. The drain isn't an issue if it's masked properly and water isn't allowed to collect and sit around it. A bad tub technician and a bad client who won't follow instructions = drain issues.

How much time do do leave after spray to put silicone around?
@thetubguy2293
@thetubguy2293 Жыл бұрын
I don't use silicone I use regular caulking. Usually If I have nothing else to do in the apartment, I'll blow dry the edge for a few minutes with the turbine and caulk the tub

Hi, What equipment are you using to spray ? I have a 5gal compressor and purchased both a gravity sprayer gun Hvlp and the siphon gun both husky. the spray fan isn’t getting very large and I think it’s because of the compressor idk. any idea ? Thinking of getting a airless can spray. starting to do more tubs might be worth the investment
@thetubguy2293
@thetubguy2293 Жыл бұрын
I don't think an airless sprayer would offer enough Continuous pressure to refinish tubs and tile. As for the 5gal compressor not sure. Maybe there's a little junk in the gun tip that affects it only when you pull the trigger. Not sure I don't use that kind of system.

Ya wanna come do my kitchen sink? I have one of those old fashioned "Signature" white double sinks, with the large drainboard on either side of the sinks, really popular in the 60's and early 70's... and I LOVE it. Our house was built in 1972. My mom in law asked me, when my husband and I got married... because at the time they owned the place, if I would like to have a more modern sink, and I said absolutely NOT! I do a LOT of canning and that sink is amazing when blanching sweet corn or other veggies. My mom had one on the farm when I was growning up but it didn't have the double sink like mine, and she replaced it with a stainless steel in the 80's. The thing about these sinks is that you can fill them with water, add a bit of bleach and let them sit... and they get WHITE again with little to no scrubbing. They are easily scrubbed clean of any stain with a bit of Ajax and little scrubbing, but those silly stainless steel sinks never look as nice as when first installed. I have a good friend who had her kitchen redone and added a stainless steel sink and she actually told us that she uses a plastic tub inside it and doesn't want to use it because it stains and doesn't look as nice as when installed!!! If you feel you can't use it because it stains.... what is the point? We were adding onto our house 10 years ago and while I was gone, one of the work crew either came in and used the sink or dropped something in it, and I have a chip in the porcelain edge of one of the drainboards.... very frustrating! I sanded and coated it with a little bottle of appliance paint and it seals it pretty good and lasts a long time, but OH how I would like to have it completely refinished back to the baked on porcelain!!

Yes, a new tub is "cheaper" except the labor and the 3 surrounding wall that usually get destroyed when removing the tub.
