People need to remember that Eli's throw was a dot after slipping multiple sack attempts, only to have Tyree hold onto that ball despite future HOF Rodney Harrison having a firm hold on his catching arm and Tyree getting bend backwards the entire time! The entire game has moments of sheer willpower, determination, and grit that drove the NYG to victory all because of the crucible of the away game victories they had to survive over the season. They enter the playoffs as the #5 seed, face the #4 seed, (TB) #1 seed (DAL), and #2 seed (GB) - all AWAY games only to face the unbeaten and record breaking offensive juggernaut of a Brady lead NE team!

And outside of that, he crossed midfield in only 3 of 15 other drives? On top of all that, he barely beat a team that was 1/13 on 3rd down and outside of one play, the opposing QB barely had 100 yards. Remind me what he did on the "game winning drive".... Just here to remind Tubfrog Brady has a losing record to NFC East teams in the playoffs. These are: -losing TWICE to the Giants in the SB, including one where NE was the one seed and undefeated and NY was the worst (or second worst?) seed. -Losing to the Eagles in the SB. Not gonna discredit the award or the significance of receiving it but there’s really no reason to mention it concerning someone’s HOF chances. What does him being a good man(which I am in no way saying isn’t important or a good thing that more people should strive to be) have to do with his ability to throw a football? There are tons of guys in the HOF who were,in their playing days, definitely on Santa’s naughty list.
@Gungho73
@Gungho73 Ай бұрын
@@Jrseydevil Actually, behavior/decision making off the field can impact the Halls decision making and if a player, like Eli, is on the edge of being a Hall of Famer, you take every positive you can. Even players who should've been in the Hall, often wait years as punishment (such as Alex Karras). For a player not considered on the edge though, it's not as important and I get why you'd question it. It's kinda like how the Hall reportedly will pass on a defensive player to next years list immediately nowadays if they don't have a ring (despite it being a team sport). Anything that can stop your name from getting veto'd, and keep the talk going is a big deal. The more time they spend talking the more it helps these edge cases.

@@Gungho73 I suppose I see your point. I mean it is a piece of hardware for the professional trophy case, it’s right next to the Super Bowl MVPs. I guess I’m only really questioning it because as much as I do think the award should get more attention then it does, if we’re talking about athletes going down as a HOF caliber player we gotta keep it to the sport. I don’t think this is gonna happen but what if people wanna leave Aaron Rodgers out of the hall because of his personal off the field choices and habits and what not? A lot of people never bring this up about Eli’s career: He didn’t have a losing season as a starter until after his 2nd SB. If unforseen circumstances made him retire after SB46, he would’ve retired with a 69-50 career record, 185/129 TD-INT ratio, and 2 Super Bowls/SBMVP’s in an 8 year career, one more than his brother. He also set the NFL record for 4th quarter TD’s that 2011 year, perfectly showcasing his clutch gene. None of those numbers jump out at you but it easily tells the story of a QB who overachieved despite what he was given. That’s about as unbiased as I can be with that take because I’m a diehard Giants fan and Eli made my childhood with those SB’s. If you ask me he deserves the gold jacket and a statue built in the middle of Times Square 😂 great video

I never said it but I've been watching you since you were at like 20-30k subs, the 100k is completely deserved. Your style of content is so unique in a space full of unique creators and manage to somehow be high quality while still having that "slightly more obsessed than the average fan" vibe (which I mean with complete respect btw, I think it makes your videos really accessible and relatable to almost all fans). This video is another banger and the amount of work must have been insane, especially trying to quantify a stat as vague as "clutchness." I remember being like 10 and rooting for Eli cuz I grew up hating the Patriots (dw I came around Tom is the goat fr fr), I don't see how he couldn't be in the HoF when you look at what he did during this insane stretch of his career.

I’ll say this. Eli will probably enter the HoF because he’s a Manning and is well respected, but if you ask me, he hasn’t really done that much outside of those two Super Bowl years especially still having the most interceptions than anybody at this point since 2004. However, if I would use the logic that “since the playoffs matter more than the regular season”, then having two really good playoff runs that ended with a rings against Brady would be a big accomplishment for a career. Being clutch, I will say is a great way to judge QB in his career, but I don’t know if he should be in the HoF. So far, Tub has done a pretty good job breaking down the timeline of Manning’s career.

Eli manning is basically Bob Griese. Griese had an undefeated season, defense and run game. Eli took down an undefeated season, had a defense and a run game. Both had two super bowls. About the same amount of pro bowls. Bob should not be in the hall of fame but because of the historical implications and being on that team he is. Same with Eli. They both were in the right place at the right time. Both played well at times but both struggled when they were carrying the weight themselves. Eli did carry that 2011 team but was inconsistent majority of his career.

The clutch stats communicate the experience best. Those 5 years of Eli's prime, if a game really mattered and it was close, you felt unnaturally calm knowing that Eli was the one with the ball. He didn't win them all, obviously, but you felt like he gave you the best shot you were gonna get. There are so few quarterbacks whose entire demeanor changed in those high-stakes situations. Most of them live up to their regular season selves. Playoffs Eli was a different beast, as long as the team could keep things close.

I don’t recall the Giant’s defense orchestrating two of the greatest game winning drives in the history of the game. That was Eli Manning. He led his offense to victory twice in the Super Bowl by making multiple plays that we still hold as potentially the best clutch passes ever. Eli threw those passes. Eli avoided those game sealing sacks and stayed level headed enough to still make some of the best throws we will probably ever see from a QB. To say the Giant’s defense was solely responsible for the Super Bowl wins is honestly laughable. Yes, those defenses held firm. They are all time great units. They had the GOAT flustered and running for his life on every play. They did their job so Eli could do his. They all deserve credit. Especially Eli Manning. A quarterback is by far the most important player on any team. Teams win or lose mostly on the play of their guy under center. Eli was clutch on the biggest stage in the world against the greatest QB and dynasty we’ll probably ever see. He’s a Hall of Famer. No question about it. Anyone that disagrees clearly doesn’t understand the purpose of the NFL’s Hall of Fame.

I think this nugget of info describes Eli pretty accurately: Eli is 8-4 in the playoffs in his career. Those wins came against a middling Bucs team, a Matt Ryan-led Falcons team, a win over the 1-seed 13-3 Cowboys, a win over the 1-seed 15-1 Packers (with MVP Aaron Rodgers), an NFFCG win over Favre’s Packers in his last game with the team, an NFCCG win over a 13-3 Niners team with a HoF caliber defense, and two Super Bowl wins over the Brady-Belichick Patriots dynasty, one of which denied them a perfect 19-0 season. All 8 of those wins came during his Super Bowl winning seasons. He never won a playoff game that wasn’t part of a title run. (I write this as a Giants fan who think he deserves the HoF)
@JahWontPayTheBill
@JahWontPayTheBill Ай бұрын
From a Steelers fan, I agree. Eli is 100% a Hall of Famer. I’ll even say he’s more deserving than Big Ben. Why? Well, Ben has the stats of an all time great. His numbers are eclipsed only by names like Brees, Brady and Manning. Ben has 2 rings just like Eli. Ben also orchestrated one of the greatest game winning drives we’ve ever saw in Super Bowl XLIII. That pass to Santonio Holmes in triple coverage may be the best pass ever thrown in a NFL game. Let alone the Super Bowl. Now, as for why I say Eli is still more deserving than Ben.. it’s because Eli worked his magic on the biggest stage against the greatest QB and dynasty that we’ll probably ever see. Ben could never do that. Ben could never overcome Brady and the Patriots when it mattered. Ben has the statistical achievements that people say a HOF QB should have. Eli literally wrote the lore of what are potentially the two greatest playoff runs of l time. They’re both all time greats. Definitely belong in Canton. Still, without Eli Manning we’d be looking at a very different NFL today. That’s something I can’t say about Big Ben. He didn’t make history like Eli did.

Just name one playoff team Eli beat that scored the NFL average of 21 points. Oh, that's right. In 2019, Eli's last full year, I did a comparison of Eli to Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers. They were all drafted the same year, so it makes sense they were all 6th, 7th, and 8th all time in yards and TDs. Yards: BR 56194 EM 55981 (-213) PR 54656 (-1538) TDs: PR 374 BR 363 (-11) EM 360 (-14) But, let's take one more stat in consideration. No, not interceptions, but we all know how that would pan out. Let's consider attempts. Attempts: EM 7972 BR 7168 (-804) PR 7000 (-972) Eli basically needed 804 more attempts than BR to have fewer yards and TDs. He needed 972 fewer attempts than PR to have fewer TDs and more yards. The bottom line is that Eli needed HUNDREDS of more attempts to not keep up compiled stats with good, not great QBs. Seriously, this guy should never get into the HoF.
