Tuck & Roll Pleats were mostly used in old carriages and cars, but nowadays this design is still 'in vogue' and has been adopted for some auto upholstery interiors.
As you can see, this design is not so difficult to do, because foam material makes it easier to perform.
In old times, before having the foam in the market, upholsterers should have had to do it filling the channels with cotton, wool, horse hair, etc...that's why the name of 'tuck & roll' in upholstery.
These basics would help us a lot in a near future when we, together will be tackling 'real size upholstery projects'; free of charge videos on you tube.
I hope you find this video useful!

There are some people only dedicated to disqualify the work of someone without providing a minimum. I think that the right thing would be to give an opinion about what seems wrong or demonstrate with facts instead of 'clicking' in a nonsense way. I want to note all of these videos are free and aimed to people who only is really interested in learning something.

I love your videos, a great resource for learning. I hope that you haven't had a bunch of people trying to tear you down and criticize your work. You mentioned in a earlier comment that English is a second language and your embarrassed to speak on video, don't be. You should hear my Korean that is embarrassing. Which country are you from and what is your native language? Thanks for your videos they are great

First, thanks for watching these mute videos(lol)! Regarding your question, as my English speaking is not so good I have opted for not to do it because I could cause confusion instead. But, I am not stopped...I'm training more each day to improve my English learning. Besides, to my videos I use a 'visual method'. The interested person would learn just by watching. Many people have found this method effective. I am located in Mexico and my native language is Spanish. You are welcome anytime!

+Barry Jones I'm so happy the videos are useful! ...most of these videos are basics that would be of great help to perform real upholstery projects in a near future. If you like this design, try to use a 'high density foam' to preserve the shape of the pleats for a long time...maybe, you want to use the traditional tuck'n roll materials cotton, horse hair, etc.

Cechaflo, Great tutorials. I have an 11 video series on a boat cushions. Started this 1 and 1/2 years ago as hobby. I currently do boat cushions and bimini tops. I learned from videos on KZbin. Your videos have given me an added insight into things I do and things that are too difficult for me to tackle at this point in time.I do my work for free and charge for materials, everything I do is 100% better than what I started with and my clients are always happy... Some projects I do are perfect (not like yours) and others have flaws that only you and I would see....lol !! pdanker1, Jules Danker...
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 9 жыл бұрын
Jules Danker Hi Jules, Great! you have found these videos useful...I think to this point of your upholstery learning process, have realized that everything is summarized in some sewings/trims: 1. The most important and basic sewing, 'the blind sewing' as it name says, used to close the pieces of our project. 2. 'flat-felled/oversewing stitches used to decorate and reinforce on top of material. 3. 'French seams/double stitches' o top, mostly used as decorative and should be reinforced with a backing on the reverse. 4. 'Welting/Piping' used to decorate and reinforce the edges of our projects. 5. 'The binding', a very useful 'trim' to give the finish to the edges of our project. Besides, we find the 'channels with on-top sewing ' and 'channels with inside-hidden sewing'(like the one of this video) Furthermore, it is important to take into account the sewing machine/tools and the materials. Check these links for 'marine vinyl and 'marine thread': www.dltcorporation.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=marine+vinyl (it has warehouses in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky) www.albrightssupply.com/category-s/1895.htm (the main warehouse is located in Corinth, Mississippi www.superiorthreads.com/shop/category/?q=marine+thread This an interesting and useful forum to get in: www.thehogring.com/auto-upholstery-forum/

Do you prefer a PFAFF 1245 over the JUKI 1541s if you had a choice? I like your machine in the videos Sir. Thank you for all of your wonderful and educational videos. You are a true master at this craft.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 жыл бұрын
+Booth Covers I'd choose the new version pfaff 1245, 8 mm stitch length, original, made in Germany . The Juki dnu 1541s is also a very powerful and good sewing machine; it has a 9 mm stitch length and a jumbo bobbin also...supposedly, these machines are japanese but if I'm right are manufactured in China. The same happens with some pfaff 1245 which are manufactured in China also...they do not have the embossed serial number plate in the back...they have a sticker instead. My sewing machine is a pfaff 1245-706/47, 'old version', original, 6 mm stitch lenght and standard or short bobbin. Thanks for following me on you tube!
