This was the baseline when we started the project, it purred like a kitten after Rob was done with it. Thanks for watching!

@@prestontuckersspeedshop1948 It would serve you guys & your channel well to include all of that in this, or at least a separate video. Only posting video of the engine NOT running properly can mislead a lot of people pertaining to the performance & reliability of this engine. Surely you guys don't want that!!! You didn't even explain it in the description beneath the video! Just giving some friendly advice, no disrespect meant. I truly care about the Tucker legacy, and I've always been fascinated with the man and his machine. I look forward to all future videos. I know it takes a lot of time, dedication, and hard work. Lastly, I'm tickled to death to learn that this is STILL IN THE FAMILY!!! God Bless!!!

Ouch. I'm going to say the old girl needs some head work. A couple exhaust valves are definitely not happy. Not to mention..... did I hear a rod knock at the end of the video? Did we sustain some damage?? This is the problem with a LOT of ultra-rare collector cars. They never get driven anymore. Some of the cars seen pulling huge dollars at auction don't even run! At least this lovely lady still runs but sounds like she needs a mechanic like me to show her some love! I would jump at the opportunity to work on / tune up a Tucker.

Hello AMC guy, this was only a baseline run, and no damage was sustained. Significant maintenance has since been performed on 1044 by our collective team. It has been returned to it's original Andante Green and every portion of the car was refurbished to what we believe is the most historically correct Tucker in the world. If you search "Tucker 1044" online you can see what the car looks like now.

@@prestontuckersspeedshop1948 Very cool. Will we get a video of the refurbished engines' dyno run soon?
@prestontuckersspeedshop19484 жыл бұрын
@@That_AMC_Guy unfortunately we didn't get a chance to film that before the car had to leave for Pebble Beach!

That's not much muscle for a big car like that.

It's also a 70-year old, nearly 100% original engine. Most 6-cylinders wouldn't make 100 horsepower until into the 1970's. This ol' gal is making 94 and from the looks of things is in desperate need of some love.

They did built 8 cylinder engines in the US until the seventies with just over 100 bhp. Just as well (most cars built in the US had drum brakes). Tucker had disks! And looks! And safety! If it would have developed further.......❤️ The competition would be forced to invest!

@@That_AMC_Guy "in need of some love"? What are you seeing that implies that beautifully running, gorgeous machine needs love??
@That_AMC_Guy Жыл бұрын
@@averyparticularsetofskills Well, the fact it was rated for 166 horsepower and barely managed to make 94 on the chassis dyno raises suspicion. Secondly, the backfire at 38 seconds in the video and the engine struggling to keep running beyond that indicates carburetor problems or worse, burnt valves. Flames out the tailpipes is only good whilst playing Grand Theft Auto. Even the Tucker boys posted 3 years ago, this was nothing more than a baseline run and implied there was much work to do to make it run at peak performance.
