Well there's two other letters in that acronym. Sure they can't demand you not-not buyt isreali goods. But they can punish for advocating for sanctions against isreal for their actions. And can punish you for advocating for american companies, colleges, government institutions to divest from isreal. Boycotting alone doesn't work at that scale because...well; ya still pay taxes. You still need to engage in the psuedo monopoloy of energy abd telecom companies. Your money is paying for bombs one way or another and with the anti-bds laws they can punisb you for trying to stop that.

PS Boycott laws affect ALL publically listed companies in the United States. It's a matter of legal compliance. I worked for a major US corporation and every contract we signed with a foreign company, or government was vetted for boycott clauses. These ONLY reference Israel as a matter of federal legislation.

I think Brandon is giving too much credit to the right. Yes, when the "left" criticize right wing figures and potentially deplatform or make other efforts to diminish the impact of such individuals, the right wing will often descend into legalistic games as he described, but they will not hold fellow rightists to the same standards with regard to leftist actors. What we see instead is setting up a dynamic where the left are illegitimate and constrained but the right are deemed legitimate and rightfully unconstrained with extremely rare exceptions, such as outright, unapologetic fascists or racists...
