Tudor has come a long way. 4 years after the launch of the BB58 Navy Blue and we now see a piece that has all the trimmings. T-Fit, 5 Link bracelet, Brushed dial and as a Chronograph. I purchased the new Tudor Black Bay “Blue” Boutique Edition as a 60th Birthday gift for myself since I always wanted a special proper chronograph watch all my life but thought that my family and business were always priority than me spending a crazy amount of money on a watch! Finally all that changed 2 days ago at the Tudor Boutique in LA’s Century City Mall. Couple of things: *This blue variant looks great!; *I still think that S&G variant is the prettiest (personal taste); *It's still chunky; *Tudor is in a place right now where Rolex was many, many years ago... Actually decent tool watch with a touch of a high end watch making; *Tudor wants to be like an Onega and maybe one day they get there but it's still a case for the future; Great video as always. I'm unlikely to see this watch in the flesh but from what I have seen on the web it certainly looks great. I have the panda chrono that I plan to keep as it just works for me. I live too many miles away from most brands boutiques and cant afford or be bothered to take the time off to probably walk out the door with nothing and that's OK. If a brand wishes to use boutique only releases as an advertisement for the brand for the more affluent buyer that's fine as well. It's marketing to elevate the brand that may well boost sales of the brands other products. If it gets more people into the idea of wearing a watch that doesn't need an app and a charge every day then I'm all for it.

Blue Zenith chronomasters are really beautiful! I have a Charles Vermot limited edition and the sunray corporate blue is stunning. Anyway, the BB Chrono. I appreciate how Tudor continually refines its products for timeless appeal. These design choices are quite evolutionary and intentional. We're already looking back fondly upon the original Black Bay ETA's and the BB 58. Remember the silly debate over the Pelagos 39 and the sunray finish?

Solid discussion as usual! This new release looks great and I agree with your points. I like Tudor’s direction and I love these chronographs… the pink and the blue both offer amazing styling opportunities with NATO straps as well. Tudor has a burgundy NATO that looks amazing with the pink dial version and I bet the blue would look very cool on a blue NATO or a Blue NATO with red or white stripe. Now let’s hope they keep their prices and availability under control.

The problem with this is that you need to see them in person. The reason the Tudor Black Bay aeries (non-58), the chronographs, and the older GMT get tons of hype is thatbthey look great from the front. The reason they nose dive in price and everyone sells them off after 1-2 years is that they are too thick, and that the slab-aided case wears terribly for larger watches. It's especially egegious with steel watches on a bracelet. You need to see these in person to understand this and evaluate them, because videos and photos highlight the frontal shot, the dial design, and all the press highlights the value. But when it comes to the real-life wearing experience, they just don't work dor nose people. It's a huge design flaw with almost all popular Tudor watches. The proof is in the secondary market value.

I agree, I stepped into my Tudor shop last week and they just got this blue boutique model. They had 2 left. I was stoked. UNTIL I tried it on. I have an almost 8" wrist but still felt too thick to me. It is a Beautiful looking watch. But I wear 41 mm submariner and that is a perfect thickness so I just couldn't pull the trigger on the BB Chrono. However I did try on the new BB 58 GMT "Coke" and that watch was about perfectly sized. I loved the feel of that one on the wrist

For me the five-link bracelet has been a game changer for Tudor. I really don't like the standard faux rivet three-link bracelet. Earlier this year, however, I got a BB Heritage 41 with the new bracelet and T-fit clasp, and it is wonderful. Of course, it looks good, but between the fine tune fitting and the smooth articulation of the bracelet the comfort is unparalleled. I've already busted this year's watch budget, but I'll be keeping an eye on this piece.

I'm a fan of Tudor watches because I think they are such a great value for money with a wonderful design aesthetic. It's interesting you touch on how they are more available now and it's true. I do see Tudor has opened quite a large number of boutiques around the globe over the past year. They opened a new boutique at my local AD and when I visit they have quite a lot of models available. I'll be curious to see how things continue for Tudor because I also see quite a number of "new" watches being sold on the grey market for a hefty discount(and they sell quite quickly). The boutique blue chrono is interesting and wonder if this will be a short lived offering? I originally thought the pink Tudor chrono would be super exclusive when it came out, but I recently bought one at my AD. Did Tudor see the demand and keep making them because they sold so well? No matter, as long as they keep their progression towards METAS movements in all watches and making the Rolex-style updates I'll keep adding them to my collection.

The Tudor 7750-based pre-Tiger “Small Block” 792xx chronographs remain the benchmark for the brand. These watches were elegantly cased and incorporated the best of the Daytona design elements. Additionally, they are vastly underrated. Unfortunately, the configuration of the B01 movement would have a negative impact on the dial layout, but the rest of the design queues could most certainly be incorporated into a new “Heritage” line of chronographs.

The problem is the slabby case weight and size. The TAG Heuer glass box comes in a reverse panda with an hour register and you won’t have to kiss the AD’s ring to get it. It’s also smaller. Tudor is sold by Rolex ADs and they tend to insist on a lot of BS.

I am not sure when the shift happens to smaller thinner dainty watches. I particularly like a bold heavy watch and the feel of quality. @IDGuy just a quick observation; Our hobby has come to the point where I feel this is the peak of the market where it is greed filled. Look, if you do certain things for the love of money and not for passion or intelligence, you build a hard heart, with a hard heart, you can never have true feelings and emotions. Therefore, greed in this industry will absolutely destroy the passion ppl have for the hobby. There is so much of an elite behaviour in our segment and the latest example is this pink bb chrono, they will make it available to certain figures like Kevin O Leary, he will make a video of it, Watch Society will make a video of it and we the commoners get shut out because we only have money to offer the brand and no exposure. Watch collecting has become to much of an investment hobby but guess what? I promise you they will lose, no one cares about expensive watches when they have no money and the natural state of the global economy is to go up and down. I am having a field day in the secondary right now, 3 years later some watches are still at their retail price, LOL!

Spot-on Joe. This is why I've never wanted to be in that spotlight (especially during the early 2020's when the numbers for the haute brands (Rolex etc) were crazy)) We are going to see a decline. I bet this will be on the agenda for the next generation. Smaller and slimmer case, 5-link and rivet bracelet (maybe rubber) as options 🥃

The designer in me tells me that you can not use the chrono between 10 & 4 O’clock and 8 & 10 O’clock AM or PM as the hideous hour hand covers half of the registers. Thoughts please @ID-Guy

I have just purchased the Mono and the bb 58 gmt! Two weeks ago. Tudor will drive me to bankruptcy. The mono has lost 20%, but I buy what I like. More importantly I can get them, unlike Rolex! But tbh a Rolex is no longer an impulse buy, way too expensive. Whereas a Tudor is!

Agree that it’s too thick. Tudor needs to improve the slab-sidedness of these watches. I routinely wear a thicker Fifty Fathoms, but it’s more visually appealing because it’s not a flat side.

I fail to understand why a chronograph needs so much water resistance.Makes it thick and the screw down pushers look awkward and I don't want to unscrew for timing.Still content with original BB58 after five years.

I’d say the same, it should be 100m. Most folks don’t understand just how ridiculous 10m’s is underwater… let along 50-100 🤣 100m would be excellent, just enough for the rating AND could maybe work around screw-down pushers 🥃

OMG!!! They released the SAME watch???? In BLUE?!?!? OMG!

Tudor is definitely dumping the chrono case before the upgrade/change of line

Seems like it, right? Old case to be phased out for a slimmer 39mm ;)

I’m liking this blue chrono ❤

If you can get past the 14.2mm thickness 😉 The colour is right up your alley! Hope you’re enjoying this pitiful summer of ours, sir! 🥃

Tudor is killing it. Gonna get them all. Have the BB 41 burgundy, need this and the coke gmt

I seriously dislike the shiny sunburst dial, just like on the Pelagos 39. But hey…who cares

There’s a place for them, sure but if all of their collections go this way? Might be an issue 😆 Well said 🥃

Old watch plus new color equals hype. That’s a classic Tudor equation. They’ll control supply…build hype…and then magically more and more will appear. I don’t dislike the brand. I have the panda version and like it although its wearing dimensions are a bit ungainly. But there’s nothing new or exciting to see here. Just a bit of marketing.

The Shield and Crown always seem to have a finger on the pulse of their marketplace. But “let dogs be dogs” as they say 😉 Great seeing you sir! Can’t tell you how many hours / days / years of your channel I’ve enjoyed 🥃

I have several AD that I have a relationship with. All of them sell Tudor. Travelling to one of very few boutiques in Germany to buy this piece is not really an option.

Her is where our tastes divide. Yes I like Zenith but Tudor does not have my heart.

I’d be taking the Zenith 8/7 days a week given the choice too 😉🥃

I think I'd choose it on an Oyster bracelet...

A cynic might suggest a blue release is appropriate now they've run out of mugs to buy the pink one...😂
