In today's review we take a closer look at one of Tudor's most important releases in a very long time. The Tudor Black Bay Diver. This time with Tudor's own in-house movement featuring a 70 hour power reserve, and various features to improve performance and reliability.

Always preferred the pelagos for looks but tried a BB harrods on in store and it’s felt so much nicer in real life. Sometimes you just have to try a watch on. Definitely on my list now

Saw this and an Oris Aquis at my local AD. I found it really interesting how much weight difference there are between the two, that extra weight really sold me on the Tudor.

I have the same watch, and what impresses me the most, after the beauty, is how comfortably it sits on the wrist.

This is a very well built watch and you are correct about its crown action, super smooth. My copy is very accurate and surprisingly comfortable on the wrist for its size. Tudor could have charged more for this watch but I am glad they kept it relatively affordable as compared to other luxury brands. I love the gold on red of this watch and the bracelet is extremely high quality. Great review!

Good timing. Been looking at this as my next purchase. Perfect size for my 7.5" wrist but I'm going to try on the 39mm 58 first to see if it will work for me as the reduced thickness is appealing.

I have this same exact watch and it does wear slightly high on the wrist, but since my wrists are 8" it really doesn't bother me. I took the bracelet off this watch and now it's a strap monster, and I like it better that way and feels even more comfortable on the wrist!

Yeah it’s a gem with a lot of character and charm. Might pick one up as a beater while my Rolex Sub takes time away from desk diving scratches. The aged leather strap matches nicely as a backup and adds variety. I wonder how the accuracy measures up with Rolex. My Sub runs at +2s per day after breaking it in over 4 years. You’re right the bang for the buck is class leading. It’s basically a funky Rolex Sub that you won’t have to baby too much.

I never heard that an aluminum bezel fades before. For me, that is concerning. I've been thinking of getting a Tudor BB Red for a while, but now I'm in doubt. Thanks for the review.

I have this watch and took it off the bracelet immediately, this watch is a strap monster for my 8" wrist the bracelet just added un-needed weight and bulk, it rides much more comfortably on straps. I use Barton quick-release straps leather, canvas, silicon, all can be changed out is seconds. This watch will only go back on a bracelet if it is my Staib Mesh!

Case size isn't that bad-I had a planet ocean chrono (44mm) THAT was a hefty size! then it kept going back to Switzerland for repair because the gas escape valve kept sticking then snapping internally. That is why im looking at a nice cheaper alternative.

Great review. Not over the top, just the right amount of detail for my liking. I actually just got my BB and have noticed some misalignment with bezel markers. The arrow point just before the 12 o'clock marker. Is this the same on your loan model you've used in the review? Looked a fair bit online and some say it's normal or potentially just the reflection. But I am positive there is a very slight misalignment there. OCD taking over.

Mine shipped today. It's no thicker than a Mark 2 or any Panerai or the IWC pilots (even the 41 spitfire). Can't see how people want the eta when you get a very Rolex caliber movement from a company so closely related to Rolex. Forget the rose. And it's first gen of the the in house movement to boot. The thickness is in the case cover which mostly sinks into your wrist. Can't wait to get my red devil.

absolutely right man! So many divers are between 14-15mm in thickness ( Seikos, Omegas, Breitling and even Rolex with the Deepsea) and nobody is talking about that.

All well and good until you send it for service and Tudor don't bother servicing your movement... they swap it out with a refurb movement. I'll pass.

All of the Tudor and Breitling 70h PR movements are based on the Breitling B01. Tudor makes the stripped down non-chronograph version and Breitling the chronograph. It was a shared project from the very beginning.
@mattadcock1817
@mattadcock1817 4 жыл бұрын
That's not the case. The Breitling B01 is a different movement architecture entirely from the MT Tudor movements. The joint venture was effectively a swap between both companies that meant that neither had to rely on eta and valjoux equivalents. Breitling had a high quality modern chronograph movement and Tudor had high quality modern 3 hander. 2 very different movements that filled eta based gaps in both companies.
@ChefPelle
@ChefPelle 4 жыл бұрын
@@mattadcock1817 Both movements were developed from the beginning as a joint venture and the development of the B01 and MT ran side by side. At least according to both master watchmakers and several articles.
@mattadcock1817
@mattadcock1817 4 жыл бұрын
@@ChefPelle the Breitling B01 was introduced to the market 7 years prior to the MT movement. So was definitely not developed side by side. Completely different movements.

@@mattadcock1817 Sorry, the B20 and the MT, with both sharing the B01 as their platform. But you probably won't agree on that either.
@mattadcock1817
@mattadcock1817 4 жыл бұрын
@@ChefPelle only the mt5813... Which is pretty much the Breitling B01 (which was introduced in 2009) but with a free sprung silicon balance and different finishing. Every other MT caliber in the Tudor catalogue that is not eta based is in house. Including the MT5612 that breitling use in their higher end divers. Think Breitling name it the B20 from memory. Either way production of the B01 and MT5612 were not a joint venture. They were a movement exchange between both companies.

I have the same reference number! I love my watch! Yes the case size is thicker / taller but it wears very well on my wrist and the height is almost unnoticeable because of the way it seems to sink in quite comfortably! I love the colorway the red bezel, gold indices and black dial complement each other very nicely! I rock mine on the hand woven textile strap, I am contemplating using the leather strap to give it a more sophisticated look. I prefer the textile because of the type of specific activities I do-I don't know how well the leather would hold up to heavy salt water or chlorine water usage. 🤔😂🤣 Overall, this watch is a Keeper, I have zero plans of selling or trading it for another!

Coming from BB58 (11.9mm thick), I'm like repeating this on several forums, Tudor pls make this diver series smaller n thinner, say at 12.5mm or 13mm max (so not to overrun his big bro Rolex Sub's thickness, but hey, 200m WR is not the same as the Rolex' 300m WR). Same d 41mm, smaller lug to lug 48mm x 22mm.
