@@BarkandJack Not quite sure why some are still questioning and believe that the bracelet will tarnish the skin. I have discussed this at length with the Tudor boutique in Dubai, which confirmed it is a proprietary Bronze alloy that they have spent some years perfecting; this will not affect the skin and even the bronze will patina in a more unique fashion (more a darker and richly coloured bronze, without the greenish formations). Tudor understand completely what they are doing with this release and I firmly believe, by far, it is their most exciting option to come out this year; with a serious amount of R&D invested by the brand.

When I first got my Bronze/Bronze Oris, I wasn't keen on it because it looked like gold and far too bling. However, nearly a year later, it has become my favourite watch. I've loved watching (pardon the pun) the patina develop and little flecks on it come and go. It's all down to taste I suppose. My wrist has only gone slightly green on a couple of occasions when the weather was hot.

Great insight, as always but I must counter your relative dislike of bronze due to its unpredictable patternation . . . that's the joy!! I'm an aviation engineer and my watches must not only be resistant to intense electric fields, immersion into petrols, oils & lubricants, they must also look rough & reliable. My NOT-TUDOR bronze watch quickly adopted a rugged & fantastic appearance which I love! I know its not for everyone but if you want a watch that looks like it has endured a hard day's labour, get a BRONZE one

The problem for me with the way they have been releasing watches is that i'd be reluctant to buy one as i'd be worried that i'll prefer the one coming out next. Great video Adrian. Yes 1. Tudor is going toe to toe with Omega, offering a £3,500 Tudor alternative to a £4,250 Omega 2. they are market testing BBs to see which are most popular materials/design combo and 3. they are also trying to persuade people who won't do the fictional waitlist dance with the AD for a new Rolex to buy a new, hip Tudor rather than go into the grey market. Will be interesting to see which BB variant becomes most popular - I suspect the BB black. Mind you it would be amazing to see a full gold BB. Rolex have allowed Tudor to attack mid-market niches that it doesn't want to get into, so that it can concentrate on displacing Patek.

Lately though I've taken an interest in bronze and when I saw the BB bronze on a matching bracelet, I thought this might be it. Well, this vid clarified things, it's a no go. I thought the bracelet had some sort of treatment at the side in contact with the wrist. To be honest, not just the stained wrist put me off, passed 20 years opt out aluminum inserts and BB doesn't want to use ceramic...Took Rolex several decades to use it, Tudor won't be different. I would like a burgundy 58 so that there’s a black, blue and burgundy 58 (and a black, blue and burgundy 41mm BB) and upgrade all those forementioned with dive watch bracelet extensions. Then with those core colours, make a 58 red/blue GMT and keep the 41mm GMT (without dive watch extensions). THEN the gold, silver bronze and ceramic’s can all become METAS and remain as higher-level novelties. Every other BB gets discontinued and you finally have a cohesive core product line.

What a beauty!!! I have to admit that I've always hated those fake rivets on Tudor bracelets, but in bronze however, it just WORKS! IMO it evokes a sense of olden bronze dive helmet. love it!

Excellent review and I believe you’re right about Tudor/Rolex having Omega square in their sights. As to their expansion of the BB58 line and specifically the solid gold models… they’re nuts to enter that arena as it’s paradoxical to their specific niche. Just one guys opinion. 👊👍

Tudor now have so many models in the Black Bay collection, that you need a specially designed stick in order to wave a stick at them all. Eye protection is recommended though

Adrian. I think you are on to something. I also believe these improvements (Metas/clasps ETC) are deliberately constrained to niche lines as a tester. I would add that they are also likely to be outsourced. One thing that really screws with a stable industrial scale production run is little one offs - my guess is that the ceramics/bronzes/special bracelets etc are coming from independent third parties and tested before tudor commits resources.

If they kept the current BB clasp (with the shield motif and the ceramic pips) and added the on-the-fly adjustment, that would be the perfect clasp.

The blue one in steel on a bracelet is still the one to get. Tudor is now the black bay company and it’s only the 58 that has it’s proportions sorted. The others are way way to thick and the 41mm version is a bodge. They made it even thicker by bowing out the case back to make the in house movement fit. It’s only a matter of time until this clasp makes it way on to the stainless steel models with a price hike. At this rate it will probably be next week. I don’t think Omega will be loosing to much sleep as they have many sorted models that have excellent proportions.

I have bronze watches and love them not for looking like golden. I like the patina, but I don't think a bronze bracelet is a good idea. It will paint the wrist green :) My Helberg is with a titanium back and still some green stains on the bronze where my wrist touches the case especially during summer.

In the videos, the watch looks great. I love my Navy Blue Black Bay 58. I managed to order this version from a boutique. When it arrived, I could not warm up to it (I tried). You need to wear mostly earth-tone clothing. It was never going to work with my blue shirts (in the videos, it's hard to understand this). Many photos make it look dark, like it would go with a wider variety of clothing. In person (in most daylight), the bezel looks like a beautiful copper, and the chocolate brown on the dial dominates it. I even tried my shirts that are camouflage green. The combination did not pop for me. I dumped this watch quickly within a day (at a significant loss). DO NOT ORDER IT ONLINE WITHOUT TRYING IT ON FIRST. It's not the bronze metal that is the problem. It's the copper/chocolate combination on the bezel and dial. More than any other Black Bay, try this on before buying.
