FXD MN owner here. I really like that GMT, it's an interesting twist. Just wish it had a triangle instead of the 24 on the bezel, to still be able to time things. Otherwise, I pretty much like everything.

Hi Pete, I enjoyed your video. I purchase the FXD GMT a month ago. I have wore it 24 hours a day 7 days a week since purchasing, the accuracy is outstanding. For me, the lume colour in reality when the watch is in your hand, looks considered and right. (If interested in the watch. I would suggest go and look at one, to make your own mind up). My conclusion of this watch. It’s a finally engineered instrument, no nonsense no apologies, it a robust tool watch, that does the job, and in my opinion looks great too.

Pete! What an engaging conversation, ripe for further exploration in shorts. I truly enjoyed reading through the various perspectives; it’s sparked a lot of contemplation on my end. This discussion leads me to ponder: Are some of the more vocal Tudor enthusiasts merely capitalizing on the allure of "The Crown"-relying on its marketing allure, social prestige from industry events, and exclusive junkets? As someone who cherishes vintage Tudors-pieces that have stood the test of time-I find myself increasingly drawn to the newly unveiled FXD range. The design philosophy behind the FXD strikes a chord with me. There's a real potential for acquisition once they align with my price expectations. Recently, while wearing the robust Pelagos, I had the opportunity to explore both the FXD MN and the Ti 39 Pelagos at the boutique. I was captivated by the case shapes and dimensions; they offer an exceptional wrist presence and an effortless style that feels sophisticated yet approachable-a delightful blend of design and rugged adventure. While retail prices don't appeal to me, I opted to assemble a custom titanium FXD for my daily wear while pairing the Ti 39 with a titanium bracelet for a deeper dive into my tropical adventures. The wristability is impressive, offering a comfortable fit that enhances everyday usability. As someone predominantly enamored with vintage timepieces, I also appreciate the alternative lume color-it's a refreshing departure from the ultra-bright white/blue we often see today. The combination of vintage inspiration and contemporary twist-what I’d call the “OMG NTTD” recipe-is particularly enjoyable, encapsulating the spirit of legacy while embracing modernity. Ultimately, Tudor’s FXD line represents a thrilling new chapter, one that merges practicality with refined aesthetics. As I explore these pieces further, I'm excited to see how they resonate within the broader conversation of watch collecting and personal style.

Bought my first Tudor just yesterday, a Ranger. Always loved the design, and always loved that so many seem to dislike it. Uber-popularity is usually a turn-off for me, so the BB range has long failed to appeal to me- although I do quite like the aesthetic of one or two of the models. Was tempted to buy an FXD (black), as I love the left-field - by Tudor standards - nature of it, and may look to pick one up in the future. Don't see me ever becoming a fanboy, but could see myself owning one or two more - including PS1.

I think it’s a cool watch, and it’s fantastic that Tudor look to be expanding the Pelagos collection. They certainly need to seeing they are the black bay brand

Love the FXD, but not a GMT fan so this one is a miss for me purely based on that. It's nice looking though and I like the fauxtina.
@CaptCanuck44448 күн бұрын
It seems to me that the FXD line has become almost an independent sub-brand, which suits me well as the FXD line are the only Tudors that interest me. I would have preferred the new FXD GMT with no date, or the date placement at 6 rather than 3. I don't like it enough to buy it, I'd rather have the timing bezel, but I do like it.

Enjoyed that, thanks Pete. Every time you said "Tudor Folk" I imagined people in doublet and hose wearing luxury watches. I'll never buy one as too bulky for me even though it comes on a fabric strap (I dislike bracelets too) and I like military/aeronautical watches (Fortis FTW for me). I do like the North Flag though.

I'm suspicious of the Tudor Clique, when Tudor pays to take KZbinrs to F1 circuits and give them padlock access I feel opinions have been bought.

I think the best bad example of tudor buying love is the coverage coordinated with hodinkee in 2011/2012 - the most egreggious case of astroturfing I can recall.

Love the original FXD. So when this came out I got hands on and think this is a really great watch and wear great on my wrist. Worthy of adding to the collction except that I couldn't see there were enough occassions where I would wear it, so passed.

The new Tudor Pelagos GMT is perfection. You can’t give an opinion based on pictures. The color is perfect and it’s not patina. It’s the best GMT for traveling purposes ever made , period
@wristopia41017 күн бұрын
Wow, and I thought that I over analysed stuff! Not sure I got the same feeling on the reaction to this that you did, and creating this odd group of Tudor buyers just seems to be giving you something to attack because of your personal preferences. Pelagos Steel needs to be made, but other than that the Pelagos is not going in a direction that I like so gave up after the 39 (which is too small for me). The black FXD was nice enough but prefer the blue. All the others are awful, but this one is growing on me despite disliking off white lume and Nato's

not a group I invented - the term "tudorbros" actually comes from a collection of youtubers/podcasters/commentors that named themselves and its this group that is a little unsettled that tudor isnt sticking in the lane they love. freely admit that this is not all people that are into tudor - there are a bunch of tudor fans that love the FXD GMT. on the tudor steel....I dont know, I guess I feel that having their modern, forward looking tool watch family in modern, forward looking materials like Ti and Carbon Fibre has a certain charm.
@wristopia4101Күн бұрын
@@PeteMcConvill I just find it really odd that Tudor must be the only brand that does not make a ceramic bezelled steel watch, and if they made a Pelagos in steel it would be the first (assuming it did not have an all steel bezel. Rolex are obviously not allowing them to do such a thing though hahaha.

The fxd line is the coolest of the tudors simply cos they cut the wheat from the chaff, want a safe subby - any one of million black bays, all fxds no bracelet tool watches like nothing else on the market, very niche, very much for lovers of tools, love my MN FXD, and love the GMT

The original fxd was a huge hit with Tudor fans
@davidb95318 күн бұрын
Was it? I think it was just made in quite low levels so they were hard to get, easy to get hold of now
@rickfowler37108 күн бұрын
@@davidb9531 I'm just talking about the public reaction. The impression I got from reading coments etc at the time was positive. For the niche it was aimed at I think it was a hit. If you're comparing it to the 58 or something then fair enough
@PeteMcConvill8 күн бұрын
I recall the original fxd had a generally positive reaction amongst tudor fans. There was some disquiet about not having a bracelet but I think most were able to accomodate one weirdo fxd. It appears the growth of the fxd to an emerging complete collection of gmt, chrono, diver is something else entirely and not universally welcome.

actually I thought the same as this FXD looks the best for me but I still wish I could put a bracelet on it but it is still nice.

I've only got two Tudor's and don't love everything they put out so I wouldn't classify myself as a "Tudor Bro" but this watch doesn't do anything for me. I think it's a combination of the pho patina and military markings. Pho patina on an otherwise prestine watch just looks off and I don't want to look like I'm cosplaying as someone with military service when I've got none. If they made a version with normal lume and no military markings I might consider it.

I’m immediately distrustful of people that don’t like bracelets on watches. That makes me nervous.
@PeteMcConvill8 күн бұрын
its pretty simple - when its hot they are to hot, when its cold they are to cold, when they are to loose they flop around, to keep them snug requires big, bulky complex fit systems, all in all they suck.
@uncles20008 күн бұрын
What’s upsetting is that you can’t get one. Tudor is playing the limited inventory game and this wasn’t the watch to do this with.
@PeteMcConvill8 күн бұрын
I doubt this is game playing - I think they are just very careful not to over produce, wait a few months and they'll be everywhere.
@uncles20008 күн бұрын
@ So don’t sell them today and wait a few months and then ‘over produce’ so they will be everywhere. Tudor did the same thing, with 21 MN FXD, when they first came out. Except this one isn’t going to be as popular and peeps are going to move on to the next flavor of the month GMT. This won’t appeal to the masses. Just to the Tudor die hards.

The best thing about the FXD GMT is that it is not a watch for the "Community". I's not for me, fauxtina/sand lume - Nope and a NATO - heck no. But I think it might be optimistic to say that this is the start of a new independent trend at Tudor. I wonder if their licence agreement with the Marinne Nationale had something to do with it.

Like what you like ... I have several tudors. I like them. I agree though, the watch world is toxic and full of overly-sincere old men who use terms like "sexy" to refer to metals. eugh...

Tudor never appealed to me, never will. Too much of a nr 2. And very unclear what they stand for, or where they want to go. There's simply no dream. it is strong quality and some love it. Everyone's preference is different and that's fine.
@tylerbrown44834 сағат бұрын
I never minded when Tudor leaned into their identity as kind of a way To bring the Rolex aesthetic to the masses without actually being a knockoff and to take risks in a Rolex-inspired manner without risking the Rolex name. It’s why they exist in the first place. But to me, in the last 10 years. The dynamic has gone from Tudor being the poor man’s Rolex to Rolex being the overpriced Tudor.

Pelagos have a modern design. So the lume is a color scheme to me. Black Bays are a heritage design so that’s fauxtina to me.
