I picked a Ranger up yesterday and every time I watch a review of people hating on it, I wonder if I bought the right watch. And then I look at my wrist and realise it’s the perfect watch for me. The clasp and build quality are brilliant, COSC certified at a great price and I can walk around London without fear of being stabbed for my watch!

This watch caught my eye in the jewellers window so I went back the next day and bought one. The dial is clearly marmite but I actually love everything about it. Your comment about wearing it in London caught my eye because I'm off there tomorrow and didn't want to wear a Rolex for the reasons stated. This watch is classy, smart and I love it's retro look.... Well done Tudor and this will now be my daily go to watch :)

Don’t care what others think. Wesr what you like. I just bought a Serica 5303-1. Watch U Seek has some criticisms over it that almost had me question my decision. Then I glanced at my wrist and realized I bought it for me, not for them or acceptance. Wear that ranger with pride my friend !!!

You are totally correct, there is no perfect watch, only the perfect watch for you. I bought a classic Datejust 36, fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet, silver dial. It’s the quintessential Rolex, I loved the watch. But it didn’t look good on me, my style of clothes and everything didn’t go well with it. Had to let it go, nothing wrong with the watch, just not for me.

It's funny how different people's opinions can be. Whilst some find it ugly, I just think it's a stunning piece... the understated dial contrasts so well with that gorgeous satin brushed case and the yellow numerals add a unique touch you won't find in other watches. Throw in that 70hr power reserve, T-Fit clasp, and cosc certification and you have the ultimate tool watch. P.s. Your camera work is fantastic, amazing lighting.

Haha I agree. There’s a watch for every wrist out there and some things I might not like someone else might love and vice versa. That’s why i show the watch as much as possible(with my own opinion mixed in of course) and people are free to make their own convulsions. And thank you on the lighting! Excellent review. I have this watch and your review matches solidly with my experience. It's a great watch, love your description of the light play and colouration of the dial. Regarding lume colour, I like it, not sure if Tudor sourced genuine 7995 models from the 60s and tried to colour match perhaps. 39mm is a great size and the watch wears very stylishly and elegantly, a welcome and needed extra line for Tudor aside the Black Bay mania (I'm not criticising Black Bay btw). I hope this video rises above alternative KZbin nonsense out there!

Great review! I’m a huge fan of the Rolex Explorer, and have a few, including a birth year one from ‘57, and a 1016, and one from the early noughts. What I don’t like about the more recent models with the glossy dials and the white gold surrounds, is they look too much like jewelry, and less like an everyday watch ought to look- to me. Frankly, my older explorers are my favorites, but they are now worth so much money, that I probably shouldn’t wear them everyday. This is a really great alternative for me. It’s got the same kind of look as the 1016, but with a much nicer bracelet- and as you pointed out in your great video- it’s a strap monster! The great look with the bracelet makes it in a tux, and the straps make it great for everyday wear! I think you convinced me that this one punches my ticket, and I thank you!

I own the new Ranger and I agree that it is not perfect, but it is still a great watch. The lume color is a bit strange indeed, but we all know that clean white wasn't an option and there are so many shades of yellow that it is hard to pick one that pleases everybody. In most lighting conditions it looks more like off-white than green to me, so it doesn't bother me at all. I suspect that the thin application/printing of the lume could make it more prone to fading/aging, so it could actually get better over time. I don't really agree with the clasp adjustment remark, since I own both a Submariner and a Seamaster with microadjustment on the go, and in my personal opinion, the Ranger clasp is just as good as the two others. They were all a bit tight at the beginning and got a bit looser after a while, and none of them is really great at showing by how much you adjusted it, certainly not when keeping it on the wrist. All in all, a very good review!

Thanks for the kind words man. For me the black bay pro is ok. It’s a little on the thick side but nothing crazy it’s still wearable. Again with the dial it doesn’t have a white printing for the lume which usually bothers me. Something feels off visually about the bezel too to me. Of course it’s just personal opinion! And ya I did a collection review at the maybe a year possibly two ago at this point. I’m going to be doing an updated one in about 2-3 weeks after my last big piece of the year comes in.

When this first came out I was on board, I was going to trade up my BB36 silver dial for it but as time has passed and I've seen it more I changed my mind. The problem is the dial and size. This should have at least had a 36mm option, I get they want to split the middle but they have plenty of other watches with multiple sizes. Then the dial, it saps a lot of versatility out of the watch and this is the main reason I'm hanging on to the BB36 - it truly can do it all, this, not so much.

The lume color they chose it’s not going to be for everyone on this new Ranger. That said a new watch like this is not going to patina over time. With that in mind, I see no reason for a watchmaker to choose a color other than white. If you look at 1960’s Rangers today- that yellow color is what you’ll see. It works well on those vintage pieces. There are lots of calls for Tudor to have offered applied batons and numerals, it’s not that kind of watch. It is a watch that the more you wear it, the more you’ll like it. Look at the Rolex Explorer which does have applied indices, it’s no longer a tool field watch. It may be a better or more beautiful watch, but it’s a different animal now,

Blah blah blah. The previous version is the better, just look at the used prices of 79910 version. 39mm sucks. 20mm lug width is to small. Size matters people. I do like the new Nato strap. But typical Tudor/Rolex take a good thing and make it worse.
