I REALLY love a diver, but there are some times that you need something solid, but REALLY understated. I tried this on at my AD, and it's an absolute keeper. What a watch. Never feel I am looking like I'm posing, or making anyone feel uncomfortable for my watch choice. To sum up. It's pure class.

A dress watch on a bracelet is barely a dress watch. These aren't really dress watches either. With a date, solid case styling, screw down crowns, WR, they are perfect everyday watches for business casual or smart casual wear.

grade a watch and review it for hows its made and what are its strong points. everything has its cons and when reviewing please keep your opinions and taste out of the review. i review these to determine if i should pull the trigger and buy it. I want a watch without what your likes or dislikes, so since you express your dislike on some things about this wonderful watch, then allow me to choose to dis like your review.

Just needed to add a comment to this review. I own this watch and the legibility is fine. Did not like, whoever this reviewer is, flashed the light on the watch to kill the legibility.

You're missing the point of a dress watch if your complaint is it doesn't do much but tell time. That's all you need a watch to do in a business setting. You don't need it to tell you the moon phase or calculate lap times or keep track of how long before your dive tank runs out of oxygen or whatever. If that makes it seem like little more than a piece of jewelry... well, again you're missing the point of a dress watch -- yes, it's basically a wrist brooch for men. Everyone is entitled to their own sense of style, but wearing a Submariner with a suit strikes me as the wrist equivalent of wearing a suit with John Lobb trainers-- suitable brand and pedigree, but mismatched to the occasion.

I have a feeling the reviewer does not like / need a dress watch :P I don't see how the reviewer not having a need for a dress watch is a problem of dress watches. Dress watches have a time and place that he just so happens to not be. I agree with the date window problems though.

I have to say that I really like these offerings from Tudor. They need to change the 'Style' name however, it's a little low-end sounding. I think the understatement of these pieces makes them quite fetching and I would wear one based solely on the fact that the watch looks like quality and is gently refined. I think a crocodile strap would assist in raising the overall quiet statement of the watch, a greater visual impetus without shouting, just what the piece deserves really. Dress watches have a very important place in the watch world. There is a time and a place, just look at the PP Calatrava or the VC Patrimony among others of all varying price points.

So, this is what you call a dress watch these days? It looks more like a casual, everyday watch. And it's quite large to be a dress watch.

Why don;t you do Movado reviews?
@AardvarkAdventure9 жыл бұрын
BeautyofScent Not a lot to say about most modern Movados, right?
@BeautyofScent9 жыл бұрын
Greg Stella yes indeed the modern (plasticky looking) Movado's are terrible, but the older ones are great no?
@BeautyofScent9 жыл бұрын
Abhishek Srivastava That's interesting indeed. I knew that Movado made ESQ but never knew they made low end designer watches for Juicy. I have noticed that some reputable department stores like Macy's now carries mostly the newer plasticy looking Movado's and not many of the older versions anymore. By the way Movado and many other swiss brands are owned by the Swatch group.
@AardvarkAdventure9 жыл бұрын
BeautyofScent Absolutely! Some of those old Movados with the Zenith El Primero movement are to die for. This channel only does new watches, though, as far as I've seen. Also, there's something to be said for a timeless design, regardless of all the other Watch Nerd stuff, and Movado definitely nailed something unique and has [largely] stuck with it.

Greg Stella Yes they have created an iconic style and I love them. especially the 24mm automatic sport edition.

A good review should not consist of the reviewers personal preferences. Your personal preference in a watch has NOTHING to do with the build quality or particular styling of any watch, or how others may love this styling. Sorry, but very amateur review of a good quality watch.
@Millahtime9 жыл бұрын
Eh, a review is always going to contain personal preferences. Quality is subjective, design is subjective, everything about a watch is subjective. It's not much of a review if you're just reading off a list of specifications or just saying, welp the quality is nice but I hate it, 10/10. You find reviewers who see things similarly to yourself, and then you tend to trust that persons opinion aligns most closely to your own. But you're never going to find a truly, 100% unbiased objective review. It would be rather boring if that were the case.
@jmflyer559 жыл бұрын
Millahtime Sorry, but I disagree on some points. First, build quality is not a subjective issue. There are most certainly industry standards that can be compared against in a review. These standards are very well known in the industry. Now I do agree 100% that "looks" and "styling" are totally subjective. Not necessarily design though, as design can play into the build quality and function on some levels. I'm saying that a reviewer, should always use an unbiased approach. Now, if you're asking a buddy with limited knowledge of watches for a recommendation on a watch he just bought, now that's a different story all together and personal opinions would be expected and appreciated. But, not so much in an actual review. Just my opinion. 8)

@spilias1119 жыл бұрын
My friend Dimitris, the accuracy of the 6R15 movement is equal or exceeds that of ETA2824 and I can personally attest to that since I have regulated multiple watches with that movement. As far as the case quality, I find it equal or superior to Tudor as far as craftsmanship goes. You just need to hold both watches in your hand to see that. Of course, the millions of "internet experts" that cannot even spell will tell you that Tudor is "better" because all their "expertise" is based on brand perception and price.

Disappointing review- I highly recommend you don't review another dress watch or review them with a more subjective view and minimize your own biases. We don't really care what you like or dislike about a style of watch. We care if you think the workmanship is excellent or poor & shoddy. We are here because we DO like dress watches and want to know the details about the watch. I already know it's 41mm diameter but was hoping to find out the lug width? The bracelet taper dimensions etc. Details like that are good information to include-

You can get much better watches with an eta movement like Hamilton , Longines, Glycine to name a few. I would not pay extra for the Tudor name !
@westleygreenhalf23385 жыл бұрын
Tudor does a lot of work on the ETA to make it a better performing and more reliable caliber. Also, Tudor finishes cases way better than the brands you mention. If you take a Longines and then a Tudor, the quality difference is stark. I would say, if you can't afford Tudor, Hamilton is a good bet, but Longines, pay extra for Tudor or save money and get a Hamilton.

And you want to correct him with this little semantic game? Montres Tudor SA is a subsidiary of Rolex SA, and the definition of a subsidiary is a company that is controlled or owned by another company, known as the parent company (in some countries they call it the mother company) or holding company.

Tudor's sapphires are charming. I much prefer the one on my BB36 to any of the SARX models I used to have. I really didn't like the hyper clear SARX055. Something about it made the watch feel cheap, like a render or 3D printed watch. No soul or character.
