2014 07-22: Evolution 2014, the biggest fighting game event of the year, has come and gone! In this episode, UltraDavid and James Chen give a lengthy review of the event overall and each game's tournament and results. In Part 1, they discuss Evo in general and then review the Ultra Street Fighter 4 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 tournaments. In Part 2, they talk about Super Smash Bros Melee, Killer Instinct, and Blazblue: Chronophantasma. Then in Part 3 they finish with reviews of Injustice: Gods Among Us, King of Fighters 13, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Skullgirls, and more.

Re: The hotel : I was talking with some of the sales people on-site with Westgate on Saturday while I was there. 1. They were wanting Evo to be a permanent thing at the Westgate. 2. They're already in the early process of renovations. They had floors and rooms blacked out for reservations that weekend because they were already renovating them.

Good to hear. I LOVED the layout of Evo this year (vendor hall, sitting / relaxing area / main hall). The room was huge, which was awesome. The monorail to the strip wasn't bad at all. But goddamn I'd be lying if I said I didn't think the hotel itself was terrible. Haha! I really just mean the rooms, everything else was fine, but the rooms need some work. If they can renovate the rooms and maybe lower the price on the food for the Evo patrons, perhaps, I feel like it's a perfect home for Evo.

I think Marvel being 3/5 in Tournaments can explain why the results are consistent. If it were 2/3, expect alot of those names in top 8 not to be there.

Melee is more consistent than Marvel.

Snake Eyez has played Ricky several times in tournament (and exhibition) so they are familiar with each others play-style. By analogy, Ryan Hart should know how to fight Luffy better than Bonchan (even though he also got bodied at DH). Also Compare their matches with Xian -- Itabashi took it more convincingly than Snake Eyez ..Snake eyez is still the best gief though:]

When snake eyes got eliminated, I just cried.. he did so well this year and it would have been the most hype thing if he won evo.

I get that bon chan didnt know the matchup, but I dont think it would have mattered. Louffy destroyed Ryan Hart the next major, and he is arguably the best Sagat in the world

That's interesting to know. So Louffy destroyed Ryan Hart after Evo, huh? I mean, frankly, that could just be a horrendous match-up. But Bonchan definitely didn't help himself by throwing so many Tiger Shots.

jchensor I totally agree James. I know Ultra as a whole was amazing but I just didn't feel it in Finals because Bon-chan was getting overwhelmed but in silliest of ways. Especially for a player of his caliber. I said the same thing. How many fireballs are you gonna throw until your realize he gets free super that is easily hit confirm-able. At least make him work for his super meter but nope.
