It all looked delicious! You're exactly right saying the trick is to not over cook them. I crab on the south end of Lake George and grilling is my favorite way to cook them. If you cook them to long though the shell gets brittle and you'll get tiny pieces in your meat when you pick them. (I know from experience😁)

Bluegill large enough to eat are excellent table fare. Usually out here in the west, the orange/yellow belly is a female somewhere in the breeding stage. Good job. When I lived in Ft Myers, we caught lots of them up the Caloosahatchie River. Also, they had a red ear sunfish that resembles the bluegill. Also great eating, and often a bit larger than bluegill. Keep up the great work, and stay safe.

I am from Maryland. I know blue crabs. First of all the gills are called deadman. Here crabs are steamed live. You're throwing out some of the best parts of the crab. You open the cooked crab by first pulling up the tap on the belly. Then you pull the top off at the hinge of the crab.First get the bit of fat at the pointy ends of the crab top. Then pull off the deadman and all the bits around the mouth and the brain sack then discard. Then grab the fat and intestines and eat that. You have just the sweetest parts of the crab.

I haven't seen anyone on you tube use the trick my father taught me growing up crabbing at the Atlantic Highlands in NJ. Take a can of cheap cat food, and punch some holes in it and put it in the trap. The oils and smell attracts the crabs like crazy. We always went home with at least 2 bushells full of crab. We also used chicken as bait. we would use metal wire to tie it to the bottom of the trap.

Like the video it’s just amazing to see how everybody crabs a different way. I’m here on East Coast and Baltimore. Normally when we run Crab Traps like that we throw them out let them soak for 45 minutes or so come back around pick them up empty them and about time you’re done with your first pot you’re making your second round. Or we run a trot line which if they’re hitting good, you can have a bushel in under two hours anyway, great video love to see more

I used to do it this way. Now, 2 pipes, anchor a net flat, rectangle in between the pipes, trout line with chicken legs and wait a bit, then scoop everyone's limit up in less than an hour and no worries, just plenty of time to fish while crabs gather on net.

I have always prepped my crabs like that to throw in my marinera sauce with a little crushed red pepper. I usually rip off the little legs. Serve with the pasta of choice topped with that crabby marinera. People love that you have done most of the messy work before they dig in. I never thought of putting them on the grill with butter sauce. When your guest are sucking on the shells you know it's a hit.

I passed through there on my way to the keys to fish with South Florida Fishing channel, Florida fishing couple and Marathon sport fishing doing some sword fishing and deep dropping and had a great time.
