Thanks for this video! I’ve been looking for a good beginner tumble. I tried fluorite, and did OK, but found I just didn’t have enough rough (nor big enough rough, in some cases) to finish, as there was very little left of it after the second stage. LOL But they’re still beautiful. Looking forward tomordering some good amethyst rough and getting it startedmin my rotary!

Did you put these in the first stage for 3weeks?
@Baltezaar5 ай бұрын
What did I do wrong? I bought some rough amethyst; we tumbled them with a mixed batch of rocks; after going through the 4 stages, and a polishing stage (black rubber looking stuff); my amethyst came out cloudy. They looked like I powdered them with dust or baby powder. What did I do wrong? Thx for any advice.

Ahhh now I’ve been re reminded of how much I love amethyst...time to get out my rock tumbler and buy some raw amethyst and get making some shiny purple stones!

It started off looking like a rock, tumbling really brings out those deep colors

Yes! Right after that first week all the brilliant color is revealed. It's my favorite time of the tumble.Thank you for watching! 👍

Hi! I enjoyed your video. I found it after I tumbled amethysts and they didn't come out with the shine I was hoping for. What do you look for when deciding if the rocks are ready to move from course to medium grit?

During the coarse grit stage, should i change the grit every week? If not, how often?
@ReikiGemWellness3 жыл бұрын
Yes, each week the grit is used up, so you rinse off the old slurry and add new grit and water. 👍
@modernmysticlearning2 жыл бұрын
Do you change out the grit each time or keep the slush going for the 5 weeks of grit 1?

Hey, wondering how your diy barrels are working out now? Ive seen other videos of people who have done this and it eventually wears through the pvc. Did that happen with you or maybe you are using diffent thickness pvc? Im kind of suprised the the first two barrels "ribs" havent worn through at all. I wonder if you can buy tubes made with same tough rubber stuff that lortone uses for their barrels then you could make your own? I also wonder about a diy vibratory tumbler maybe using a cement vibrating motor which are really cheap. The vibratory tumblers dont ROUND the rocks but smooth them ALOT quicker. 2 to 3 days for each stage. But they often cost twice as much. Plus the "barrels" are alot different. Just thinking...

So I've been using polly grit to tumble my rocks and gem stones like amethyst. Tge rocks come out shiny and perfect, but when I tumble the amethyst they come out dull and looks like they have white stuff still on the rock after they dry. Any tips? Or tricks to get the amethyst to look shiny?

just discovered your channel & loving it so far!! I have seen some other youtubers add little pebbles as well. I was wondering if I could possibly use aquarium pebbles?? or should i just gather some from outside? :)

For a larger tumbler I bought a mix of small pebbles in the gardening section of Home Depot 😀

I am looking in to tumbling.. what tumbler do you use please?? I see so many different ones

I recommend both the Lortone and Thumler tumblers. Both come with a small 3-lb barrel option for beginning hobbyists 👍👍

Hi actually I want ask you that in how many days amethyst can be tumbled
@ReikiGemWellness4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sajjad! Thank you for watching and asking your question. Towards the end of the video I post the exact timeline I used to tumble this batch - that should be a helpful guide when you tumble your own Amethyst 👍
@pwilly12124 жыл бұрын
what do you use for polish?
@Isbes013 жыл бұрын
Hi Shannon. How full do you fill your tumbler? I’m afraid too much they won’t move. Too little they bounce around too much. Does that make sense?
@ReikiGemWellness3 жыл бұрын
The very first week about 75% full is good. Then 75-80% with ceramic media after that because you want your Amethyst to be nice and cushioned as it bruises easily 👍

Jaspers are wonderful for beginners. They are very forgiving and shine up really well 👍👍
