Thank you for watching - this is a fast moving video!!
You can get the pattern for the "Diamonds and Stars" quilt by going to the website OnPoint-TV. I am sorry but the cost is no longer "free" - is is $2.99 - thank you for understanding.
Tumbling Block is a classic quilt pattern. There are so many different ways to make this quilt block. Nancy shares several of her quilts she created. Nancy used Linda Franz's "Quilted Diamonds" and Tim Holtz's Eclectic Elements fabric on the featured quilt. She shows how to sew a Y-Seam using two techniques. Nancy shows how to do one technique using the 60 degree angle on her ruler and then follows with a second technique using Gyleen Fitzgerald"s "Butterfly Seam" technique. Using a jelly roll or design roll really helped to speed up the process to make the blocks. If you want to try hand piecing, Linda Franz's book "Quilted Diamonds" has the best instructions out there and her book is a really good read especially if you love a Jane Austin book!
If you have any questions or comments, please email Nancy at quiltingwithnancy@gmail.com.

Thanks for this informative video-I always like learning different ways of doing things. FYI: for those who don’t (want to) remember geometry--isosceles, equilateral and 60 degree triangles are all the same thing.

So glad you demonstrated these two techniques with a roll of novelty fabrics cut from large prints. I have some of those fabrics and find them difficult to classify as light/medium/dark, but your rather fearless use of these colours (or 'colors', as you Americans like to spell it), has given me the confidence to try it too! Thanks Nancy (and Athena!). ~Diana from Toronto

Nancy, thank you so much for a super tutorial (I had to pause to grab my notebook - then realised that all of the info was in the description section); the two techniques were explained and demonstrated so well (great camera work) I thought I would never attempt a tumbling block. Now I certainly would give it a go as I'm sure my grandson would really love this design. Again, thank you for all of the links to more information. Hello from Dublin.

You make the Y seam look so easy. Neither way worked for me. So, I sewed it with the butterfly on top and I can stop exactly on the seam of the butterfly reach under and pull/pivot the diamond forward and finish the seam. Perfect every time.

I really love your videos! I would have never attempted a Y seam if it wasn't for your video. I am now doing it your 1st way, but laying my diamond on top and creasing at the seam so I have a line to stop at. No peaking under needed. I can't tell you how happy I am that I have mastered this technique. Thank you so much!!!

I was so inspired by your tumbling blocks that I decided to try! Have some Asian fabric from a quilt show, very pretty. Have to say I was not sure what size I was going to make, and I learned a lot about how to get the all the angles to fit together! I now have about 80 to 100 tumbling blocks pieced with the triangles attached and by the way I cut them the same size as yours. not in rows yet, kinda nervous about how they will go together. I was just wondering how big a quilt 80-100 blocks will make? I could do the math or lay them out but if you already know that would be great. if not no worries, Ill put them together either way.! thanks for your tutorials, i really enjoy them ;-)

I love your tutorials. I started this with pattern link below right away. I printed the pattern for this, but can't get the 4" sized printed out. It says to cut a 4" strips, and 2.5" strips, but the templates (with seam allowance is 4.5") it is 4" without the seam allowance. The heights for strips is given, 4", 4" and 2.5", on the templates for the fabric strip pieces. What are the widths of these pieces? (I tried reducing the pattern but can't get an accurate 4" height template.) Thank you.
@QuiltingWithNancy

Hi Lisa, first thank you so much for watching - second, sorry. I just printed them off and you are correct. The diamonds and half diamonds template are too big. I would recommend that you cut your strips 4 inches and use the 60 degree angle on the ruler to cut them like I show you in the video. that way the template for the elongated triangles will work. I would recommend (and maybe you already did) that you follow up by watching the next video we did in the series on the settings - kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=vHA9THV522s I hope that will give you all you need to make your quilt :)Nancy

Hi Sis - I have no idea 😋. Depends on how many fabrics in the roll and how many work in your design. I figure to get at least 15 diamonds out of each strip and 3 strips for 15 Blocks. I’m hoping for a crib quilt for my new great niece.

No. If it’s listed as free, then it’s free. It’s still listed under the heading, “Free Stuff”. If the price has had to change, it’s incumbent on you to place a disclaimer on your video. Sure, it’s only $2.99. That’s not the issue. I don’t like bait-and-switch. I don’t like being lied to. I won’t be following your YT channel.

Hello Sharon, I'm sorry but I did just double check on the website and it doesn't show that it is under the "Free Stuff" anymore. I have been there four years again but I had moved it quite a while ago. I am sorry you are disappointed but in order to continue making free videos I had to start charging for my patterns so that I could make a live. I hope you can understand and I certainly never meant to lye to you or anyone else. Nancy
