My mother used to make salmon croquettes and I make them still. We always added some mashed potatoes, onion, parsley, garlic minced and the bread crumbs too. I am sure yours are just as wonderful!

I made your recipe today and they were delicious. I didn’t have bread crumbs or celery so I substituted oatmeal. I did use the cheese, egg, onion, mayo, mustard etc. and fried in EVOL. Just ate them plain. Thanks!

I had a version of this tonight except it was made keto with ground pork rinds instead of bread crumbs.

My mom had a special cone maker tool thingy-ma-bob to make these. Think retro aluminium ice cream scoop retrofitted into a cone shape Also instead of breadcrumbs she rolled them in Kellogg's Corn flakes and then drizzled them in Cream of Mushroom Soup. She called them Tuna Rice COnes so they must have had rice in them too. I just can't remember so vividly anymore once I hit 53. They are awesome! Just don't leave out the pineapple. It' really makes the dish.

That brought back memories. My mom made them too, but she added sweet pickle relish and omitted the cheese. 👍

Noreen, you're too young to remember Horn & Hardart's which was a chain that had rows of columns containing 6" windows that displayed freshly made food; to obtain the food, you inserted nickles (YES I SAID NICKLES!!) into the slot by the window of your choice, opened the door and pulled your dish out onto your tray. They also had steam tables, but the joy was in getting food from those windows. My mother always bought their fish cakes, which I have NEVEr been able to replicate, they seemed to be cod & potato based, dipped in crumbs, but they were very smooth and a perfect foil for simple spaghetti w very simple red sauce. What a sweet memory but I will make your version:-)

My Mom used to make these. In the filling she used potato chips instead of bread crumbs. She would of coarse use bread crumbs once the patties were formed. We ate them in a hamburger bun.

This looks totally yummy! Only thing Id personally do is omit the cheese only because I dont mix cheese with fish. Aside from that; this reminds me of a fresh whole tuna pattie I used to eat on a bun at a restaurant of a mall I used to eat in.

Cheese and fish go great together in the right recipes. Tuna casserole needs cheese and tuna melts are awesome.

WOW. I remember my mom making salmon cakes. I tried but...…..big flop! Now I have a recipe going to try again. I have to ask about the mayo-you said no Miracle Whip-then what do you suggest. Thanks again for these great ideas.
@noreenskitchenchannel4 жыл бұрын
You use mayonnaise. Not miracle whip. Miracle whip is not mayonnaise. It is salad dressing and it has sugar in it and it is gross.
@PrinceSaschaVykos4 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend Duke's Mayonnaise, Walmart carries it. I'm not a mayo lover, but I really like using Duke's in salads and melts!

Tuna Melts are a classic sandwich. A slice of American cheese adds some richness to the sandwich. I like making them like a tuna salad grilled cheese, but they're also good on half of a toasted English Muffin with a slice of cheese melted over the top of the tuna
@audreynanapreps25434 жыл бұрын
Mine wouldn't stay together. WHAT IS WRONG?
@noreenskitchenchannel4 жыл бұрын
either you didn't drain the tuna enough or you didn't add enough bread crumbs. Sometimes, depending on your tuna you will need more breadcrumbs. Additionally if you tried to use miracle whip it will be much softer and cause problems.
